Donald Trump has often promised to repeal the “disaster” that is Obamacare and he’s right, it is a disaster.
But at Thursday night’s CNN Republican Presidential Town Hall in South Carolina, Donald Trump embraced what is easily the worst part of Obamacare, the anti-free market “individual mandate” which forces Americans to buy only government-approved health care insurance, whether they want to or not.
To justify his support for the Obamacare mandate, Donald Trump uses leftist talking points of not wanting people to “die in the streets,” as if they has ever happened in America — before or after Obamacare.
Here’s how Donald Trump answered CNN’s Anderson Cooper last night (emphasis added):
DONALD TRUMP:“Well, I like the mandate. OK. So here’s where I’m a little bit different. I don’t want people dying on the streets and I say this all the time. And I say this – look, I did five speeches, maybe six speeches today. We had a lot of rallies. We had of thousands and thousands of people. I mean, we get big crowds.“
Allow me to break down the “logic” of this:

And some - me - have said they could stomach voting for Rubio. But no, I will NOT vote for Trump.
If given a choice between a crazy socialist like Bernie or a national socialist like Hitl... er, I mean Trump, I'll vote 3rd party or write-in.
How dare we use Trumps own words against him! He should sue himself!
No, you’re playing gotcha games and you should stop because it makes Cruz look so untrusTED.
Trump has clarified his position and you know it. Any further smears just make Cruz look like a sleazy win at all costs career politician.
Talk about YUGE promises!
LOL! Where have I heard these promises before? F'n A.
Going to stop lying about it now?

I was asked about healthcare by Anderson Cooper & have been consistent- I will repeal all of #ObamaCare, including the mandate, period.
I was referring to a backstop for pre-existing conditions. I will eliminate the law, in its entirety, & replace it w/ something much better.
I will replace it with private plans, health savings accounts, & allow purchasing across state lines. Maximum choice & freedom for consumer.
I’m self-funding and I am going to take care of the people ââ¬â not the special interests and insurance companies like the other candidates.
Remember, Cruz and Bush gave us Roberts who upheld #ObamaCare twice! I am the only one who will #MAKEAMERICAGREATAGAIN!
Honestly it’s just a matter of people really needing (on all sides) to avoid the quick “gotcha”, and actually take a minute to just ASK.
These blogs could have just tried to call the Trump campaign and ask “hey, we have your statement here. What did you mean by...”.
But no, they all rush to say “TRUMP SUPPORTS OBAMA’S MANDATE”!
It’s so cheap and crass.
- IT JUST DOESN'T MATTER -
Certainly not among the Trumpers. And that is because you cannot reason someone out of what they were not reasoned into to begin with. Trumpers do not act on logic. They do not question anything. They operate on blind faith and almost cult-like devotion. All the reasoning, all the questioning, all the pointing out that their emperor has no clothes is completely lost on them. They operate on faith. An acceptance that just because they may not understand what he will do, or how impossible his promises may be, they still believe that he will do it.
Anyone who will not reciprocate is an idiot and will watch the Republic die. Hillary or Sanders or 0bama will take us to a new country where we are an endangered, hunted (legally) species. Yes, I put 0bama in there on purpose; you can figure out why.

Agreed!
But the morally superior Cruz supporters demand 100% perfection. To them, Cruz is 100% conservative perfection. The only problem is, in order to believe that, they have to completely ignore:
1) Cruz working with Paul Ryan to pass TPA
2) Voting for the Corker Bill
3) Supporting H1B Visas
4) Passing out teddy bears and soccer balls at the Southern Border to ILLEGALS with Glenn Beck
5) Blaming CNN for their misrepresentation concerning Ben Carson dropping out of the primary
6) Sending out those slimy mailers with potential supporters voting records on them for the purpose of intimidation
etc.
Yep, if you ignore all of these things, Mr. Haney is a “perfect conservative.” :-D
It's a full-time job for him, in addition to making remarks that require clarification.
Going to stop lying about it now?
No, they’re not going to stop lying. This is Iowa all over again. It will be nonstop smears and fairy tales from Cruztown for the next day. This is Principled Conservatism (TM)? Ha! The Cruznadian has no clothes but his supporters drank too much Kruz-Aid apparently to notice.
So once again the rational people who actually read the transcript were right and the screaming campaign bots who posture as so much “smarter” then the “Trumpteers” where wrong again.

How about Bloomberg?
Trump Pushes Single Payer Healthcare, Tax Increase on Wealthy

If any one thinks 0’care is bad, they only have to look a Europe’s Nationalized Health care to see how bad Trump’s National Health care would be. And just taxing the rich is not going to pay for it. Doesn’t take a gnat’s brain to figure that out.
a political leader who seeks support by appealing to popular desires and prejudices rather than by using rational argument.
Thanks to you both. Will listen to the video as soon as I can get it to play (recently got HughesNet and it’s very slow).
Where were the answers in that interview? I saw a whole lot of smoke and no real fire.
It’s poo stirirng made up controversy by Team Cruz. Same deal as Iowa where Cruz smeared Carson & Trump on election day. Make the charges and give the other guy no time to respond, basically.
Virtually all hospitals now in deficit

Medicare was designed to provide health insurance for those 65 and over. The fee structure, the cost estimates, the projections for fiscal viability are all based on that. If Trump comes in and dumps millions of young and middle-aged people into the program then what does that do? Will my Medicare taxes go up? Will the premiums my parents pay go higher? How will the poor cover the gaps in Medicare coverage. Will those companies providing "Medi-gap" insurance participate since they also based all their pricing on a known demographic?
This is another instance where Trump just barfs up a proposal without him, or any of his blind supporters, asking any questions on whether it is workable or not.
You have a problem with the very sick not being able to get medical care. Or is this just and election year issue for you.
I don't have a problem with it at all. I have a problem with politicians forcing poorly thought out - or in Trump's case not thought out at all - programs down our throats. Programs that don't work as expected, are much more expensive than expected, and which tend to make things worse rather than better.

It wasn’t just Carson. Cruz smeared both Trump & Carson on election day in Iowa.
