Donald Trump has often promised to repeal the “disaster” that is Obamacare and he’s right, it is a disaster.
But at Thursday night’s CNN Republican Presidential Town Hall in South Carolina, Donald Trump embraced what is easily the worst part of Obamacare, the anti-free market “individual mandate” which forces Americans to buy only government-approved health care insurance, whether they want to or not.
To justify his support for the Obamacare mandate, Donald Trump uses leftist talking points of not wanting people to “die in the streets,” as if they has ever happened in America — before or after Obamacare.
Here’s how Donald Trump answered CNN’s Anderson Cooper last night (emphasis added):
DONALD TRUMP:“Well, I like the mandate. OK. So here’s where I’m a little bit different. I don’t want people dying on the streets and I say this all the time. And I say this – look, I did five speeches, maybe six speeches today. We had a lot of rallies. We had of thousands and thousands of people. I mean, we get big crowds.“
Allow me to break down the “logic” of this:

Ha ha...Cruzâs flunkies continue to spread lies and distortions”
Doesn’t sound very American of them.. Oh Wait, They are not doing it for an full blooded American.
Trumpers, can you say that if Trump does not win the nomination you will vote for Cruz?

Yes, if Trump doesn’t win, I’ll vote for Cruz.
Sorry, but a large number of FR Cruz supporters have been emphatic that they will only vote for Cruz...period. Your little challenge would be more aptly directed at your fellow Mr. Haney supporters.
I have seen the truth. The GOP is the Stupid party that promises everything and delivers on nothing. I am tired of holding my nose and voting for another member of the political class who could care less about this country and its people. Both parties have abandoned the American worker.
Two of the polls released in the last few days have Trump under 30% support and if you look at the real clear politics graph his support has been cratering over the past week. He still has a significant lead but he is trending down fast.
Something unbelievably fantastic and good for everybody!
See post 5.
What do you mean that's not what he meant by "mandate"?
Does he just not know what the mandate is? Honestly, that wouldn't surprise me. He offers a lot of vague answers to hide the fact that he doesn't have much depth of knowledge about a lot of subjects.
little Johnnie is one of those who would vote for trump after he killed five people on TV
The difference is between the political class who are bought and paid for by their corporate paymasters and special interests and the people. I want someone other than a politician to run this country.
yes it is....you’re not even trying now.
So once again we're supposed to fall into line and vote for the moderate candidate over the conservative candidate because "he can win"? That was the line with Romney and I fell for it. I won't get fooled again. I would rather go down to defeat voting for the conservative than hold my nose and vote for Trump.
Goodness knows how spamming FR is going to do anything, that’s for sure.
Consider this: There has been a Bush as either President or Vice President for 20 of the past 35 years. Add 8 years of Clinton as President and you have two families dominating the national political stage for 28 of the past 35 years or 80% of the time. And this does not include Hillary Clintonâs four years as Secretary of State under Obama or her failed run at the presidency in 2008. Nine out of the past 10 Presidential election cycles, including this one, have seen a Bush or a Clinton in the mix.
Now we have a Clinton and a Bush vying to be the candidate of their parties for the 2016 Presidential race. Hillary Clinton is securely on the road to coronation as the Democrat nominee has overwhelming support from the Democrat political class.
I have a pre existing condition, too. But like Scalia, I don’t think the government should force me to eat broccoli.
I'm talking about Eric Pode's single payer plan.
It's the plan where every person is entitled to every bit of health care that he or she can singly pay for.
Yes, Terifficcare. Take the rotting fish, wrap it in fresh newspaper, and convince the masses if unbelievably fantastic and good for everyone.
A vague combination of "private plans, health savings accounts, & allow purchasing across state lines."
Of course, that doesn't tell us how his "backstop for pre-existing conditions" would work (much less fit in to his "much better" overall plan), or how he would structure the "backstop" to prevent the free rider problem.
"Hmmmm, the government set up a backstop to make sure I will be covered, even with a pre-existing condition? Well, in that case, maybe I won't buy insurance now, and if I get cancer or some other massively expensive medical condition in a few years, I'll sign up then! Think of how much money I'll save!"
Soooooo, no comment on Trump's support of the health insurance mandate, then?
Well then, I agree Apple should not give the hack to the FBI or gov’t. The data from Syed Farook’s phone? Hell yes. And I believe they will ARREST the 3rd shooter soon. Too many witnesses report 3 shooters and I think the FBI delayed his arrest on purpose to wait and see who he talks to or meets with. Probably Farook’s brother or that Marquez dude.
Forget the labels. Trump is “conservative” on the issues that really matter, i.e., immigration, national security, trade, the 2nd amendment, and the economy.
