Justice Department May Probe Alleged Bergdahl Ransom Payment
The daily Beast ^ | February 19, 2016 | Shane Harris

The Justice Department's top watchdog is considering whether to review the legality of any payments that the U.S. government may have made for the release of Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl and what role the FBI played in efforts to free the soldier from captivity in Pakistan, The Daily Beast has learned.

The department's inspector general, Michael Horowitz, wrote a letter to a member of Congress earlier this month saying that he had opened a "preliminary inquiry" into the matter, which concerns allegations that the U.S. government paid a ransom for Bergdahl's freedom, and that in February 2014 the FBI sent a representative to the border region of Afghanistan and Pakistan expecting Bergdahl to be released.

Bergdahl didn't show up and wasn't freed until May of that year, when the Obama administration traded five Taliban prisoners held at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, for the soldier, who had left his post in Afghanistan in 2009 and was captured.

If there is anything that this administration has done that is not illegal I’d be amazed to hear of it.

Bowe Bergdahl defense could call Donald Trump to witness stand

Donald Trump could receive a summons to testify during the trial of embattled ArmySgt. Bowe Bergdahl, accused of deserting his post in Afghanistan in 2009 which led to his capture by the Taliban.

Sgt. Bergdahl’s lawyer has argued that Mr. Trump has compromised his client's right to a fair and impartial trial. Over the past several months, Mr. Trump has continually made statements at campaign events calling Sgt. Bergdahl a traitor and saying he “should have been executed.”

Agreed. But they’ll get to spend money(we don’t have) to put on a show so that people that believe this administration is actually doing some thing. Just more smoke and mirrors.

Maybe I should have read the article, but my first impression of the headline, and reading a small portion is...."I'm supposed to believe THIS Justice Department is actually investigating some action of THIS President!?

RIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT!

.... Well ...... The Obama administration paid the meager trivial amount of 5 billion taxpayer dollars and released five top Taliban Gitmo detainees in exchange for deserter traitor Bowe Bergdahl ..... Why would there be a need for an investigation?

..... Heck ..... It's only money .... and look what we got in return!!!! We got the traitor that nobody wanted returned, and 5 Billion Dollars squandered to the hands of the enemy and a whole bunch of new high power ISIS and Al-Qaeda Commanders sent out into the field to help destroy America! What a great deal!!!

..... Well ... for the enemy right! Who cares about America any more anyways?

Wasn't trading 5 TALIBAN COMMANDERS FOR BERGDAHL ransom enough? WTF? As always with 0dunga, AMERICA LOSES. He should've been prosecuted for NOT informing Congress of the illegal trade in advance of the trade.

Also, put Susan Rice up before a Congressional panel AND HAVE HER EXPLAIN HOW BERGDAHL "SERVED WITH HONOR AND DISTINCTION" which is a direct quote from TRAITOR Susan Rice.

I am wondering if this isn’t actually a warning shot across the bow to the FBI.

The DOJ and Barky know the Stuff is going hit the fan on the Hillary Emails if they don’t indict and the allegations are leaked out of the F.B.I.

So they are making a threat to the F.B.I., back off Hillary or we take you down on Birdog.

Sounds scripted, like they’re going to absolve their god of any wrongdoing just in time for their master’s “legacy”.

Ha! the US Justice Department? A load of crap they are..

The only reason for that trade was for the United States to be weaker and enable ISIS to be stronger..

obama is pleased.
