My Husband Went to the Store and Never Came Home, Deserting His Two Kids
Yahoo Parenting ^ | February 16th, 2016 | Eden Strong

I saw my ex-husband in court last week. It was the first time I had seen him in longer than I could remember; the exact date lost in an 8-inch-thick legal file of court proceedings that is currently lying on my desk. In fact, I could count on one hand the number of times I have seen him since I started that file four years ago.

Up until just a few days ago, I literally could not find my ex-husband.

But before he disappeared four years ago, I was a married, stay-at-home mom of a 3-year-old daughter and 7-month-old son. Then overnight my world turned upside down when my husband said he was going to the store and simply never returned.

Not only was my marriage over, but he left me with two very young children in a position where I was unable to instantaneously support us.

Quitting his job and leaving his work vehicle (his only car) in the parking lot of his employer, he turned off his phone, moved out of town, and became untraceable. His actions were not just an exaggerated statement that he no longer wanted our marriage, but it was a heartbreaking declaration that he also no longer wanted our kids.

And I’ve heard it all; the judgments that people love to throw my way. “Didn’t you see this coming,” and “what did you do to make him leave?” Or “this is why you never should not have been a stay-at-home mom without your own career,” and my favorite, “you had kids with him, you did this to yourself.”

The state will rip off both parents if it can. Contact your State Representative with proof of payments to the state. This is the only recourse I know and I’ve seen it work. It was with great consternation that the State employees had to refund their takings. They actually called and snided “there, are you happy Now?”. They’re all libs and they all believe what’s your’s is their’s.

There are zero upsides to marriage for men, in the usa.

Family court has become a massive extortion racket. Judges and lawyers and court experts rake in over 50 billion dollars a year, they deliberately prolong divorce proceedings to strip money from families, and particularly, the kids in the middle of all this. Discovery finds all assets. They then know what can be taken, they can fofce people to sell them and pay huge fees they cannot dispute.

You explain the point women do not want equal treatment, they want special treatmnt. If equal works well for them they want that. When equal doesnt work for them, they want special exemptions and/or lowered standards.

I’m not sure. The point is that by doing this, the ex-husband has made himself untouchable by the child support authorities.

The number of men who show no responsibility regarding their children is amazing and heartbreaking.

Lord quickly come.

” Really should be constructive emancipation by conduct as the ex-shrew has alienated all three.”

My divorce was similar. I put all my eggs into the basket of being able to be available to them at all times and sacrificed career advancement to to it.

She put all her eggs into the corporate-ladder climb basket and “look at me I’m a success” character. 20 years later one son wants nothing to do with her and the other seldom speaks to her. Both moved away from the hometown and followed me when I moved a couple of years ago.

Given the state of affairs in america, its basically slavery for the guy. Besides a man doesnt need a woman to be a man. Don't be a liberal and force everyone into your personal view, and if they don't hold it, they aren't a real .

I would not say it’s rare, particularly among folks who work jobs that can easily be had under the table.

Family Court is one of the most effed up systems on the planet... What is right, fair or just has nothing to do with it.

Okay so nobody can avoid problems with the system without being a sheep, according to you? Screw that explanation.

My son’s ex’s lawyer knew she’d never see a penny from her client when the judge ruled that they each had to pay their own lawyers. Somehow the lawyer filed a judgment against my son for her fees. He had no idea.

I convinced him to buy a house and when they looked into his credit he was denied because of that judgment. My son took it to court and the lawyer acted like it had been a mistake. The judge was angry at the lawyer and gave her a lecture but he should have put her in jail.

This was 2 years after the divorce and if it had gone 3 years he wouldn’t have been able to challenge it. The amount had almost doubled because of the interest and penalties. I believe she was waiting for the 3 years to be up and then take him to court for lack of payment.

Yes, the husband here may have seen it coming. She’s chatty so I’d say she spouted off what she was going to do beforehand. One day he’d come home from work to find the locks changed. When he knocks on the door a butcher’s knife comes out the window and she starts screaming “don’t kill me” while she dials 911. He’s arrested, accused of assault, has a restraining order issued against him barring visitation and then loses his job due to the publicity and jail time. Then she takes him to ‘family court’.

The smart thing in this all-too-common situation is to get a new job somewhere else and disappear before the trap is sprung, ruining the father’s life. If he still has a job he has a position from which to repair his life and assist his children. Why did he stay away for 4 years? She said herself that she was trying to get him arrested, not get back child support, but arrested. That was her top priority. He made the right move.

“Was it an accident or suicide?”

I don’t think anyone knows. They just found the remains two weeks ago. Most of them anyway - just bones and scattered by animals. Near a neighborhood walking path. I’m pretty sure he wasn’t suicidal.
