Liar, Liar, Pants on Fire!
Townhall.com ^ | February 15, 2016 | Rebecca Hagelin

"Liar, liar, pants on fire!" The schoolyard bully that would be president, Donald Trump, now daily reaches such new lows of sophomoric language and behavior that even seasoned political watchers who have "seen it all" are shaking their heads. He's being so childish that it would have been no surprise had he added the "pants on fire" part to his tantrum against Ted Cruz Saturday night.

If the stakes weren't so high, it might be amusing to watch the Donald have his temper tantrums: from the bright red face, to the dagger stares, to the wagging finger and explosive yelling, I half expected Mr. Trump to spontaneously combust during the South Carolina debate. In his attempt to lure Evangelical voters - many of whom are NOT doing their homework - the Donald became irate with Senator Cruz after Cruz exposed Trump as a supporter of Planned Parenthood, the now notorious seller of baby body parts.

Trump, sexist that he is, knows he can't cast Cruz a sexist. Trump, after proudly slurring minorities as a course of habit, knows he can't call Cruz (a Latino) a racist. So, the Donald has settled on a sordid slur to bludgeon the most honest, trusted candidate in the race: Liar.

Conservatives don't fall for the "sexist" or racist" labels. The question is: Will they fall for the "liar" label?

It's the oldest trick in the political war-game book: call someone a name equated with disgusting behavior and that becomes the headline. Name-calling has always been the liberal ace-in-the-hole for seducing the drive by media and low information voters (to quote the great Rush Limbaugh). But God help us if conservatives - Christian conservatives - don't wake up and see the "liar" label as the playground slur that it is.

We've seen this before.

Senator Cruz is running on a sterling record of advocacy and achievement of conservative principles. He is one of the few in our lifetime who has done exactly what he said he would do after being elected and sent by the people to take a seat of power in Washington, DC. From fighting against the unholy alliance of Rubio/Schumer that attempted to grant blanket amnesty to millions of people who have broken American laws and, many of which, are now feeding off the backs of hard-working immigrants and Americans who play by the rules; to challenging the Washington cartel of the "Good Ol' Boys Club" that is the Republican Establishment, Senator Cruz has exhibited both courage and integrity. He fights for truth; he fights for the Constitution, he fights for freedom.

When Establishment GOP types unite with hot heads like Trump in name-calling in order to defeat an honest, fearless man like Senator Cruz it reveals something I wish every Evangelical and conservative would see: Senator Cruz must really be the Ronald Reagan of the new generation. Reagan was hated by the liberals and held in disdain by the party power mongers. But the voters saw through it. The decent men and women who were desperate for limited government, lower taxes, a strong national defense and a country based on the rule of law did their homework. They looked at the principles on which Reagan stood and his record as Governor of California, and they were able to see through the slurs and the name-calling. They showed up at the polls in droves and voted with knowledge and confidence and elected Ronald Reagan in one of the biggest election landslides of all time. Because they did their homework, because they did not buy the ugly labels at face value, they ushered in a new American day and restored our country to its place as "A Shining City on a Hill."

Do your homework. Go behind the name-calling. Look at the records, the history, and consider the maturity of the candidates. You owe no less to freedom and future generations than to study before you cast your vote. When conservatives do their homework and then vote for the tried and true, Ted Cruz will become not only the GOP nominee, but the President of the United States. Freedom, opportunity and civil society will see a new day in America.

We can do this. We must do this. Will you?

Trump was for abortion before, but now he is only pro “Planned Parenthood”. After all they have only killed 25,000,000 American Children and committed a few million felony’s in the human organ black market. I am sure it is his moral values system that has him supporting them.

He is all for spending your money to continue to support them. I see you agree... Pity that.

You’re right...he talks about it. But what has the billionaire ever DONE to demonstrate that what he says about those issues is sincere. Because he sure has DONE a lot to show that what he says now is NOT sincere.

But I’m sure you won’t bother to refute that. You’ll attack me, attack Hagelin, or attack Townhall. It’s what trumpeters do.

Why are you confining it to pro life? What proof is there that he’s conservative anything? Where are the foundations he’s started with his “billions” to advance ANY conservative causes? Where is the evidence that he’s done ANYTHING to advance the conservative agenda?

His point of Saddam may be right, maybe not. But his calling GW Bush a liar is out of line in my opinion, because not only all of our people speaking in congress since 1998, but intelligence around the world agreed on the WMD production and deception.

“But God help us if conservatives - Christian conservatives - don’t wake up and see the “liar” label as the playground slur that it is.”

In the New Testament, Jesus called the Pharisees liars, snakes, sepulchres, hypocrites, robbers, murderers, etc.

And this snowflake thinks Christians should be upset with Trump’s rather mild terms.

Sorry detch...big ol fail on your part. Why don’t you to try to be a very rare trumpeter and instead of attacking the messenger or the source or another FReeper, why don’t you address the issues that the article discusses.

Intellectual honesty....try it, you might like it.

...you know, you could have taken it as a sarcastic comment on his tendency to tell fish stories.

BTW, the word "Schlonged" fits pretty well between his hands in that picture, too.

Trump on Trump
February 15, 2016

DONALD J. TRUMP RESPONDS TO THE LIES OF SENATOR CRUZ AND WARNS OF LEGAL ACTION
Ted Cruz is a totally unstable individual. He is the single biggest liar I’ve ever come across, in politics or otherwise, and I have seen some of the best of them. His statements are totally untrue and completely outrageous. It is hard to believe a person who proclaims to be a Christian could be so dishonest and lie so much.

Cruz said I would be appointing a liberal judge when in fact I will appoint a great conservative and I am the only candidate who has gone so far, at the debate, as to suggest two individuals I feel would best represent the conservative values we need to protect: William “Bill” Pryor Jr. and Diane Sykes.

Cruz says I am pro-choice, when in fact I am staunchly pro-life and have been for a long time. Like Ronald Reagan, on many issues, I have evolved.

Cruz says I am in favor of ObamaCare, when in fact I have spoken about repealing and replacing this disaster of a system at every speech throughout my campaign and since it’s inception. Meanwhile, Cruz was responsible for getting Bush to put in the judge that failed to vote against ObamaCare twice.

Cruz says I will try to take away your second amendment rights, when I am one of the strongest proponents of the right to bear arms and I say so in every speech that I have made for years. I am a proud member of the NRA and so are my sons.

Cruz has become unhinged and is lying with the hopes that his statements will go unchecked until after the election and he will save his failing campaign.

In Iowa, Cruz told thousands of Ben Carson voters that Dr. Carson had left the race and to instead vote for Ted Cruz. He apologized when the race was over. Likewise, his fraudulent voter violation form sent to Iowa voters. If Ted is going to continue to lie with such desperation, I have no choice but to fight back.

One of the ways I can fight back is to bring a lawsuit against him relative to the fact that he was born in Canada and therefore cannot be President. If he doesn’t take down his false ads and retract his lies, I will do so immediately. Additionally, the RNC should intervene and if they don’t they are in default of their pledge to me.

I am the strongest on the borders and I will build a wall, and it will be a real wall. I am strongest on illegal immigration, strongest on ISIS, strongest on the military and I will take care of our Vets. I will end common core and preserve the second amendment. I will renegotiate our trade deals and bring our jobs back to our country. I am the only person who will Make America Great Again.

So his being in favor of planned parenthood does not bother you? I mean, what’s a few thousand babies if he is going to make America great again.

This is the first time he has run for President...has he been President of the United States before? No, so we can take his word on what he will do by what he has done with his billion dollar world known business? I say yes...we need to run America like a Business and get it back on it's feet to save it....

Instead of ‘governors’ and ‘politicians’ that are ‘owned’ by super packs, lobbyists and special interest groups that tell him how they are going to do what...lets try someone who is funding his own campaign and knows people who can make deals instead of someone like Kerry (the Iran deal) and a 3 term Senator who is our pResident now that doesn't know anything...

GO.TRUMP.GO!!!

I was truly thrilled to see Trump stand up to the media and say the things I was saying about about immigration and radical Islam. Then then the character assassinations against true unquestioned constitutionalist conservatives began. I would like to see Trump attack any legislative actions Cruz has taken or to debate the substance of the issues with him. I guess I'd vote for Trump over a democrat but I'm embarrassed by the extent of my support for him initially before he began these scurrilous methods. I know the hard core Trump supporters will flame me but I'm pretty sure many of them are having second thoughts as well.
