Republican primary front-runner Donald Trump leads GOP field in South Carolina by 22 points ahead of the next GOP primary, according to a new poll.
The CBS News “Battleground Tracker” poll released on Sunday morning shows Trump with 42 percent support.
He’s followed by Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) with 20 percent support, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) with 15 percent support and Ohio Gov. John Kasich (R), who has seen a small surge after his second-place showing in New Hampshire, with 9 percent support.
Cruz wins a plurality of voters who describe themselves as “very conservative,” but trails Trump among conservatives overall and moderate Republicans.
The billionaire businessman is also bolstered by an anti-establishment sentiment in the Palmetto State, with respondents by a four-to-one margin describing the “establishment” as a bad thing.
Just 11 percent said the current crop of politicians in Washington knows how to get things done, while 45 percent said they are tired of business as usual.
The online CBS News poll surveyed 1,315 registered voters in South Carolina. It has a margin of error of 5.7 percent.

So how come not a SINGLE one of his 99 senate colleagues have endorsed Cruz? When one thinks he is smarter than all the people around him, then it is time to see a good psychiatrist.
So you are emphasizing a statement made ONE time by Trump, in answering a reporter’s question. Trump was simply standing up for his sister.
But you are IGNORING what Trump has said a THOUSAND times:
Build the Wall.
Mexico will pay for it.
Illegals deported
Anchor babies outlawed
Vets will get much better treatment.
National debt reduced
Abortion restricted
China trade deficit reduced or eliminated
Smacks of hypocrisy!

I don’t see it. He’s constantly saying he’s against bullet, magazine etc. bans at rallies. If you have to make crap up to make a “point” the point is not worth making.
It was a joke, people have to be smart enough to figure that out. Trump commented a few days ago when asked by a reporter stuck on stupid if he’d appoint his sister, “there is a little problem of conflict of interest. No I won’t.”
Keep up.
It’s what the Cruzes do; beg and beg and beg for money and send out stuff to people whose data they’ve mined from only GOD knows where. I get the stuff too and NEVER sent him a dime.
Trump IS going to win S.C. and I promise to NOT yell "I told ya so". :-)
No, I have absolutely no problem with Heidi Cruz working in Houston and managing investments..she has the credentials and a damn fine work ethic from my research. Cruz has a proven record of conservative credentials and fighting the establishment in his own party...pray that supporters of a registered Democrat that spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on Hillary and other Democrats even bragging about his wonderful relationship with the establishment in the Democrat Party..a candidate that brags about bribery..a Kelo supporting, eminent domain abusing crony capitalist that admits violating federal law to hire illegal aliens..who supports abortion and gun control...will be defeated in SC.
Trump is an oily opportunist that tells crowds what they want to hear capitalizing on willful ignorance if his solid record if supporting liberal positions and being a proud Democrat. Ted Cruz has a proven, consistent record on conservative principles and fighting his own party’s establishment. Calling Trump a problem solver is an insult.
We have six more days and your comments are on record. I can be patient.
Save the excuses for Saturday because your straw man argument isn’t working; he expressed the position she would be “phenomenal” on the court. My argument isn’t that he is going to nominate his sister but rather his judgement that she would be a great justice, especially given Scalia’s passing, gives me more than enough cause to reject his candidacy and there’s no doubt that Ted Cruz would be overqualified to choose someone with Scalia’s judicial temperament. He wouldn’t offer anything less. A registered Democrat with a great relationship with Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and Chuck Schumer is NOT who I want appointing a justice to replace Scalia.
What about the two names he gave? Trump was the only candidate to actually give names. Are they liberals? No they are not.
Case closed.

Cruz isn’t consistent when he goes up to NY City has a big fund raiser with the married homos and promises protecting traditional marriage isn’t one of his top priorities and then comes south with the evangelicals and says he’s the greatest candidate ever to protect the sanctity of traditional marriage .. that’s the definition of an oily politician..
