Associate Justice Antonin Scalia was found dead of apparent natural causes Saturday on a luxury resort in West Texas, federal officials said.
Scalia, 79, was a guest at the Cibolo Creek Ranch, a resort in the Big Bend region south of Marfa. According to a report, Scalia arrived at the ranch on Friday and attended a private party with about 40 people. When he did not appear for breakfast, a person associated with the ranch went to his room and found a body.
U.S. District Judge Fred Biery said he was among those notified about Scalia's death.
"I was told it was this morning," Biery said of Scalia's death. "It happened on a ranch out near Marfa. As far as the details, I think it's pretty vague right now as to how," he said. "My reaction is it's really unfortunate with any death. And now, politically, in the presidential cycle we're in my educated guess is nothing will happen before the next president is elected."

Yeah. He’s a Constitutional scholar and all...
I agree with you that the nation must repent. However, God never sits anything out, even the smallest things are sustained by the wise, free, unchangeable ordinance of his will. All faith comes from Jesus, it is his gift.
This is one of the reasons I’m a Cruz supporter. I think he’s strongest in terms of the Supreme Court.
I wonder if this might get the RINOs to think twice about their effort to oust Senator Lee. Lee is Cruz’s friend. Could you see President Cruz appointing Mike Lee to the Supreme Court?
Hitlery has already said she thinks 0bama would be a great Supreme Court Justice.
Do you think Sanders and his supporters are going to let that stand?
BTW, the MSM is more inclined to back Sanders than Hillary.
Which is what prompted my question: What would be the Constitutional result? It seems to me everyone is all about putting that aside for a year, as if that would be the Constitutional "right" thing to do. That kind of "convenience" stuff is the kind of stuff I am already sick of.
If there is a reason for the Senate to oppose Obama's appointment, then so be it. But to just say oppose it period, or a candidate for office to say it is theirs to appoint, to me, seems counter to the Constitution.
It seems to me that there will be three person tickets in the Election: President, Vice President, Supreme Court Justice. That also isn't Constitutional, but how could that be avoided? Then you have some of the Senate seats that are up for Election which will be dragged into this.
I think the Constitution is wise. This needs to be handled according to how our government works. Assuming of course that Scalia passed naturally, and assuming the President submits an appointment that can be reasonably confirmed.
Falling on deaf ears, I’m sure.
McConnell must keep the Senate in session. No recess appointment. (Yes, Obama can make a recess appointment.)
We should break up some of the circuits into at least two and maybe more, thus creating a bundle of Circuit Court vacancies for President Cruz or President Trump or whomever to fill.
Oh, my!
Oblama will NOMINATE A BLACK PERSON to fill this vacancy, THEN SCREAM ‘RACIST REPUBLICANS’ every single day over the course of the next year THROUGH THE ELECTION if Oblama’s appointment is not confirmed!!!
Jim MacDougal died of a “heart attack”, as I recall. Heart attacks can be induced.
It only takes one or two to filibuster — although hopefully, we have more.
Another report said that Scalia told his companions he wasn’t feeling well the night before. The next morning, his companions went on the hunting trip, came back, and when he still did not get up, they checked on him.
If true, seems odd that *no one* in the party checked on him before they left.
He was less than a month from turning 80. Let's not get silly.
First you bottle the nomination up in committee for as long as possible, then you filibuster it. That should run out the clock.
Trump didn’t like that Scalia invoked race (Scalia said minority students who were not qualified for admission at elite universities would perform better at “less-advanced schools.”).
Why not leave it at merit...why bring race into the equation, for the libs to go crazy over?
Pointing our your disgusting post politicizing the death of a conservative icon who was found dead a few hours ago is a personal attack?
Climb back under your rock.
I disagree, this is a political decision. Who is up for a vote is the potential nominator and confirmers of the next Justice.
The Constitution lays out a process. Executing that process is a political decision. Since this is an election year, let the public weigh in through their votes first before we get a nominee.
“In Eric Holder’s America, white people will have no rights...”
“Can they get enough RINO votes to get 2/3 for whichever bozoid Zero chooses?”
We will have to make sure no one gets to the floor for a vote. because you can’t count on the likes of Ayotte, Graham, Corker and a few others who think that “the president should get what he wants” (and at the same time, they line their pockets with some back channel cash).
