Associate Justice Antonin Scalia was found dead of apparent natural causes Saturday on a luxury resort in West Texas, federal officials said.
Scalia, 79, was a guest at the Cibolo Creek Ranch, a resort in the Big Bend region south of Marfa. According to a report, Scalia arrived at the ranch on Friday and attended a private party with about 40 people. When he did not appear for breakfast, a person associated with the ranch went to his room and found a body.
U.S. District Judge Fred Biery said he was among those notified about Scalia's death.
"I was told it was this morning," Biery said of Scalia's death. "It happened on a ranch out near Marfa. As far as the details, I think it's pretty vague right now as to how," he said. "My reaction is it's really unfortunate with any death. And now, politically, in the presidential cycle we're in my educated guess is nothing will happen before the next president is elected."

NO ONE PERSON SHOULD HOLD THIS MUCH POWER OVER 300,000,000 PEOPLE.
NO. ONE !!!
We must reduce the power of the Supreme Court.
One idea: Every state governor nominates a justice. It can be any one citizen (judge) from anywhere in the country. It would be approved by the state legislature. At the same time, a “back up” nominee would be approved so we would not have a long-term vacancy ever on the court.
They would serve 15 yrs and done.
Yeah, it would be political, but it is now.
This is CRAZY.
I met him although I did not know it was him at the time. I was 19~20ish and going to see him lecture. I didn't know what he looked like.
Anyhow I ended up talking to this guy for a couple of minutes about being a student and if we thought the speaker would be any good as I was excited to see him and knew lots about him.
I remember being puzzled when I said goodbye and he smiled and said see you soon. Boy was I shocked when he came on stage. Then he delivered a great lecture.
Every lawyer in Western Washington was there. I remember one women asking - "Justice Scalia if you could have been there at the founding and added anything to the constitution what would it have been?" Scalia didn't miss a beat - "Just some words at the end - 'And we mean what we say'"
May God welcome you home Antonie Scalia. we will miss you, your sense of humor, your love of liberty, your fight to protect the constitution.
Things just got way harder and we need to examine this system that is going to go pear shaped because we lost a justice.
Supreme Court has way to much power
>> Then came, ironically, Douglas Ginsburg, who had some problems relating to his activities as a law professor <<
Yep, he was busted by the execrable plagiarist, Nina Totenberg, who discovered — horror of horrors — that Judge Ginsburg once had smoked some weed.
From a local El Paso TV station...
EL PASO — An El Paso source close to U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia tells ABC-7 that the 79-year-old died in his sleep last night after a day of quail hunting at Cibolo Creek Ranch outside of Marfa, Texas.
The Justice did not report feeling ill and retired to his room after dinner. The source, who was traveling with Scalia, told ABC-7 a priest was summoned to administer last rites.
El Paso Catholic Diocese Spokeswoman Elizabeth O’Hara tells ABC-7 Catholic Priest Mike Alcuino, in Presidio, was called to the ranch, where he administered Justice Scalia’s last rites Saturday afternoon...
EL PASO -
UPDATE: U.S. Marshals, along with DPS officials are escorting the body of late Justice Antonin Scalia to Sunset Funeral Home. The funeral home was selected by his family, according to the funeral director there. He tells us Scalia will be there until tomorrow while they prepare and embalm the body.
ABC-7 has confirmed the body of the late Justice Antonin Scalia will be delivered to Sunset Funeral Home in northeast El Paso sometime early Sunday morning. It will then be prepared for the trip back to Washington. The body will be driven, not flown, from Marfa, Texas.
Need more information on this one, but until other reports come out I will only add it under “Working Theories”. But- there are reports that Obamatron is ‘thrilled’ about this-
http://www.nachumlist.com/deadpool.htm
But it's obvious that it's in RINOs political interest to be RINOs, otherwise, why would they be there?
Take my very own Kelly Ayotte, as example #1.
She would, as a general matter (I think) not want an America destroyer on the Court.
BUT
She is terrified of being portrayed as anti-gay, anti-Muslim, anti-black, anti-brown, anti-cripple, anti-addict, anti-woman (my fingers are getting tired).
So, you can bet your bottom dollar she will vote "aye" on any nominee who fits the above profile, or any other oppressed category I haven't thought of.
And that's because her margin of victory, in the unlikely event she beats Maggie Hassan this Fall, will be older women who attend an Episcopal, Congregational, or Unitarian church and want a Senator who is "nice".
I pray the GOP does resist Obamugabe, for once.
GOP resist? They won’t. They don’t want to end up like Scalia.
I don't know how term limits solves anything here. Justices can die of a car accident or assassination too. What we NEED is a Senate that will do its job.
Stack the Supreme Court like Roosevelt wanted to do.
Congress can change the number of justices on the Supreme Court without a Constitutional amendment. They did it several times in the 1800’s. Maybe it’s time they at least doubled the Court to 18. With more members, it wouldn’t be so dependent on one member to tip it this way or that.
Monitor keeps getting blurry. I am sad for our nation, think about all the men who died for the same Constitutional ideals as Scalia’s from those who crossed the Delaware about 20 miles from where I type to my son’s best friend, LCpl Hunter Hogan in Afghanistan.
I guess I’m just going to have to think of it another way. Reversing the logic. If the Founding Fathers wrote the Constitution based on their Godly worldview, then those who die for and serve the Founding Fathers’s interpretation of the constitution are dying and serving the Godly worldview. It’s a stretch but my God is known for His everlasting lovingkindness and that is in whom I must rest.
May his soul rest with the Father and Son. This man was the greatest Supreme Court judge of the last 50 years.

I can’t remember, but the first two of Nixon’s nominations were rejected by the Dems Teddy K got extra time to get something on them.
Agree completely. This is the one that will tell us what we want to know about each Senator.
Mosby's Raiders was a Confederate guerilla unit operating in Virginia during the Civil War.
More recently, Marylin Mosby is the State's Attorney for Baltimore, who is overseeing the prosecution of the six policemen involved in the arrest and death of Freddie Gray.

This guy, having recently been confirmed for a lower appointment 97-0, would be hard to block, even without the recess appointment:
