IF it makes any difference, this comes from a blog that seems to be an arm of Scientology.
China has moved away from enforced egalitarianism and stultifying conformity.
But the damage wrought by the Cultural Revolution was immense. Rule of law is slowly coming to China and democracy is at best decades away.
No, the young do not know everything. A society is too fragile to be the plaything of ignorant youth.
I think we need more similarities to how freedoms begins to end. Something at the beginning of the Red Revolution that looked like today.
Just hearing about total loss of freedom will NOT connect with young voters thinking Bernie makes sense. It’s too great a (whoops pun) leap for them.
Good article. Maybe the tyranny of political correctness can be seen through by enough of our young people to turn this tide. There is a minority of youth that are analytical and independent enough to push back forcefully.
I excerpted all the relevant text so there’s no need to even visit the reference site.
What got me curious was why all that would have been done by an unknown Chinese writer, so I went to the site.
The piece could just as easily have been concocted from thin air, Scientologists having no ethics whatever.
The reader has a right, I think, to know what well the water he is drinking springs from.
I verified from Wikipedia and CNN, this is Bernie.
...I think we need more similarities to how freedoms begins to end. Yes, if you could see the history of how a Soviet or Chinese communist society grew step by step, that would be powerful. Sounds like a great project for someone in Hollywood. Maybe a guy like Trump can encourage and publicize the work of film makers who really care about preserving the fabric of the republic -- the civil society. We need to help make those films financially viable. It can be done, I think. My wife is from Japan, so we get the national TV channel NHK by satellite. They feature a once-a-year drama that runs for 50 weeks, 45 minutes (no commercials) every Sunday night. The drama is about Japanese history and centers around the life a particular hero -- or often a brother or sister of a famous person. The series highlights the struggles of the time, the politics and battles in the samurai days and in more modern periods. Besides the splendid acting and production values, the series educates the nation morally. You learn what heroism is, and so in this case you do get a chance to see the progression of events that lead to tyranny and liberation. The series is called the Taiga Drama and here's a YouTube showing 5 minutes from this year's first episode Sanada Maru. You'll get a flavor for what it's about. But I see what you're saying, Yaelle. To make the leap from their life today to a future tyranny is hard to imagine. Hey Gaigin, Curious, did you follow the Taiga Drama when you lived in Japan? |
Well, that's true. To me (and Google who put it high on their search engine) the writing seemed authentic, so that's why I excerpted it. We an assume that the Chinese could not speak English, so someone translated it, or it could have been a compilation from dozens of personal stories. Perhaps another Chinese person in the FReeper community can collaborate and verify. The piece certainly seems to parallel the narrative of the movie I pointed to, "To Live". |
Interesting. So Bernie was at the University of Chicago stirring up the rabble way back in his college days. Perhaps he was a friend of Bill Ayers. So maybe Obama and Bernie are acting like a tag team. "Obama you take first 8 years and I'll finish off the country in another 8 years after you." A guy like Bernie, I wonder if he ever really enjoyed his life. His face seems to always speak anger and impatience. |
Thank you for the article and the pictures!!!!!
I was born into this, lived in it, revolted against it, and had to escape from it. Paid big price by not being able to say good-bye to my family/relatives and close friends (all for their protection/safety), and ruined my career, too. Socialism / communism are the same anywhere on Earth. At that time, I escaped from one of the so called 'Eastern Europe' countries.
"I'm curious what successes FReepers have had in teaching kids/young adults about communism and basic economics."
This is the best question should be asked every day!
Good image, Travis. Perhaps powerful images like this are the best way to make people see what Bernie really is: and old village idiot from Vermont. And I like very much the contrast between Trump's life and this guy's. |
Thank you, OneHun. I am sorry that this is your life story, but at least you are a free man today and can teach the rest of us about the terror you lived. I hope your career is back on track and you formed a new family in a new world. Cheers, my FRiend. |
The under-30s barely read. If it’s not a 30 second video, it has to be a very simple meme.
They just don’t read. Without reading, it’s impossible to grasp the concepts required to sustain a complex civilization without veering into tyranny.
I have very little hope for freedom’s future, given this reality.
Your efforts to cast FUD upon an expose of the Chinese Cultural Revolution and it's similarities with the American Left, under the guise of protecting Freepers from bloggers, is noted. Your reward of thirteen pieces of silver from the Clinton Foundation is in the mail.
ping for later
