Donald Trump remains the top choice among S.C. Republicans in the first poll released in the state since voting in the 2016 presidential race began this month.
The New York billionaire received 36 percent of support, well ahead of U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas, who has backing to 20 percent of likely Republican primary voters in the poll from Opinion Savvy.
The margin between Trump and Cruz was similar to the past four S.C. polls taken since mid-December. He leads among voters identifying themselves as evangelicals, moderates and very conservative...

Rush is what he is. Listening to him nowadays is like going to a Styx concert in 2016. They’ll play their greatest hits for you but you’ll get nothing new and you lose interest fast.
Heck he had a great run and still has a voice but it is both less informative and less funny. Times have changed too - no need to look forward to noon the next day for a take that differs from the MSM, they’re everywhere online and TV. I guess you can give him some credit for bringing about that change but it has made him mostly obsolete (and rich haha)
Things can change fairly quickly but it’s almost 20 points in SC. That’s a lot in a week. Not impossible, but a real mountain to climb.
I think Jeb beats out Kasich and winds up close to Rubio.
Trump 38
Cruz 20
Rubot 14
Bush 13
Kasich 9
Others 6
So I think Trump widens his lead instead of the race tightening. He’ll get 38 and possibly the magic 40
I’ve seen some closer polls. The battle is the Lords.
Poll: Alabama is the Most Conservative State
Poll: Trump leads GOP field in Alabama
These two articles are from the past 2 weeks; AFTER Iowa, but BEFORE New Hampshire.
If Trump is 20 points ahead of Cruz in the MOST conservative state, how does Cruz compete?
Alabama votes on Super Tuesday, which is 17 days from now.
Can Cruz overtake him here (in Alabama)? Not from the people I talk to. They're pumped! 2009 TEA party level frenzy.
Dixie wants to see some Washington UniParty A$$ kicked. Trump is seen as an A$$ kicker. I'm betting on Trump taking the South.
Care to wager?
Because we didn't fix our border situation and education system the nation is DONE!
Given his relationship with his own chamber, could he be confirmed? Serious question not a mocking.
LOL. No why tempt God? He has every heart and mind in His hands. His poll is perfect every time. I'll praise Him for His outcome even if my head is over the toilet.
We’ll see. Iowa voting was different then ever before plus Microsoft counted it. Cruz pulled several dirty tricks. Cruz has no class.
If a President Trump nominated Cruz to SCOTUS the Senate wouldn’t dare to obstruct him. No way, no how. For one thing, the slimeball Senate Republicans would be glad to be rid of a genuine conservative in their little club at any rate.
Agree. He is too crazy like Beck got.
He has no cool guido tan either.
Yes, and Trump’s ahead in those, too.
I ocassionally have friends; otherwise very faithful Christians, get so wrapped up in their favorite sports team, they say prayers to God hoping their team will win.
I really don’t think God has a favorite team. I also don’t think he has a favorite in this GOP primary race.
Go!!
It is what it is, but thanks for noticing. I wish we would all be able to just discuss the facts. Unless the people who did the poll are lying about their methods and data, and I have no reason to think they are, I’m just taking it at face value. We’ll see what the next few polls show: will the trend hold, etc.
“We all love Ted”
You are either trying to be very nice or you haven’t been paying attention. There are a lot of folks here at FR who have been saying the most awful things about Ted Cruz for the last few weeks. Liar, sleazebag, cheat, etc.
The majority here like and respect Ted Cruz. Just because they may favor another candidate doesn’t change that. I ignore the crazies and accept the fact that no candidate is perfect.
Any links for other polls?
