When socialist Bernie Sanders beat Democrat Hillary Clinton in a landslide Tuesday in New Hampshire, he crushed her among young voters by a whopping 83 percent.
Tuesday night in New Hampshire, 83% of voters aged 18-29 chose Sanders, according to exit polls. And those voters were a full one-fifth of the electorate.
Sander's message of "income inequality" (Hillary has one too, but her Wall Street ties and personal wealth make it transparent) is popular with young people drowning in student loan debt (thanks to liberals proclaiming college is for everyone and by promoting the purchase of worthless degrees without the prospect of future employment) and those who have sympathy for occupy wall street. The sympathy also comes after 40 years of liberal indoctrination in public education, starting at kindergarten and ending in PhD programs, imposed by Marxists posing as teachers.
Sanders sat down with Late Show host Stephen Colbert earlier this week, which is widely viewed by young people, to talk about his New Hampshire victory. Bernie Sanders Explains Why Heâs Different From Trump
Although Sanders excites young people, the reason they do is sobering. According to analysis in the Washington Post, a majority of millennials now view socialism as preferable to capitalism. Keep in mind the millennial generation is 83 million people strong and the largest generation ever produced. Millennials outnumber Baby Boomers by nearly 10 million.
In a recent YouGov survey, respondents were asked whether they had a "favorable or unfavorable opinion" of socialism and of capitalism. Below are the results of their answers, broken down by various demographic groups.
As you can see, overall, 52 percent expressed a favorable view of capitalism, compared with 29 percent for socialism. Republicans, those in families earning more than $100,000, and people age 65-plus had an especially high regard for capitalism compared with socialism, but respondents in almost every demographic category demonstrated the same preference to some degree.
There were just two exceptions to this pattern: Democrats rated socialism and capitalism equally positively (both at 42 percent favorability). And respondents younger than 30 were the only group that rated socialism more favorably than capitalism (43 percent vs. 32 percent, respectively).
The other problem here is millennials have no idea what socialism actually is or what living under socialism feels like. Over to you, Greg Gutfeld: Greg Gutfeld's Socialism 101 Class
Free-market conservatives have a lot of work to do, not just on the campaign trail, but in the education system to reverse this trend.
Tell those same millennials that their 15 dollar an hour job will be about 1.50 an hour after ol Bernie taxes them 90 percent..that is how Socialism works but what do they care, they have been taught in college that Socialism is awesome and Capitalism is evil, once they see their bank accounts reduced to nothing they will ask where all their money is oops the Govt has it now
So, they prefer something they’ve never lived under?
If the Greatest Country on Earth can afford to bail-out all of those Wall Street banks, it can afford to pay my tuition.
Their thinking goes something like that.
How many 18-29 year olds voted in the republican primary in NH???
When they wake up, it will be to late for them.
The Actual Reason Socialism Isn’t A Bugaboo For Millennials - the DELIBERATE Failure of education.
“The advancement and diffusion of knowledge is the only guardian of true liberty.”
- James Madison
With all the scary economic news, Millennials are about to get a dose of reality.
We told you they were stupid.
Our son liked socialism when he studied it in school until we explained to him that he would be paying for it for other people who did not work as hard as he did at school.
I believe it was the first time he thought about it in personal terms.
these are the same people you see in line for the new iPhone yet they cry about not being able to afford health care
They are so in tune with Social Media, they think Socialism is just another form of it. At some point it better sink in or they are in for a rude awaking
Really we been to two Small States with New England Liberal Colleges and Iowa.
In reality the Progressives have these kids with so much debt in College and no Jobs.
The first thing with any sense would ask why is College so expensive?
Where are the debt adviser telling them what it will cost them to repay each year in College and how long.
Does any of them even if Bernie was Elected that this Country is going to pay for their College?
It'll be the millenials who will have to deal with the mess and it won't be pretty. But it is all their choice.
I am worried for the conservative kids. Conservative kids will still have the good work ethic and will be carrying the load of the massive welfare state and of course, the American dream will be gone forever.
All they have seen is crony capitalism where the way to make big money is to bribe politicians. They have never experienced a true free market. Plus they are drowning in debt with worthless degrees and Sanders promises to erase that debt.
The old definition of Socialism is equality enforced from the top down--with the best known example being Communism. The new modern definition of Socialism is equality enforced by bottom up--for example, the Open Source movement for computer operating systems such as Linux and the user-editable Wikipedia. I think the Millenials are going to get into a lot of clashes with older political leaders who still believe in top-down enforced equality....
The same people who want free birth control and when they get pregnant want someone to give them a free abortion.
Going to college is extremely expensive and time consuming. It also contributes to sex outside of marriage because in the 'olden days' people married younger and thus satisfied their urges in marriage.
Our grandparents were not better able to withstand the urges - they just got married earlier. Now men and women delay marriage to satisfy the urge have sex without marriage and don't produce kids anymore. Then maybe they get a low paying job out of college and until they pay their debts they won't have kids or get married - etc. It's a vicious cycle.
A 90% tax rate, Bernie said it will be OK because of all the free stuff you get with it.
Eventually, the few people who actually have jobs, will realize that they are paying for everyone else to get free stuff.
They will ask themselves, why bother working at all.
The BIG EDUCATION cycle
1) make unlimited subsidized credit available to students
2) universities raise prices to tap available funds
3) universities pay profs and admins big salaries
4) profs and admins donate to Democrats
and repeat
