After a disappointing finish in the New Hampshire primary, Chris Christie is expected to drop out of the race, according to CNN. Morning Consult polling shows Christie's backers could head to the candidate the New Jersey Republican took down in Saturday's debate: Florida Sen. Marco Rubio.
In four separate national polls conducted in January, Rubio was the top second-choice pick among Christie supporters with 17 percent. Donald Trump was a close second, getting 15 percent of Christie supporters, followed by Texas Sen. Ted Cruz at 14 percent and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush at 13 percent. Ohio Gov. John Kasich, who took second place for the GOP in New Hampshire Tuesday night, would get the smallest slice of Christie supporters among all other candidates, picking up just 7 percent.
Morning Consult asked 5,456 registered Republican and Republican-leaning independent voters, including 164 Chris Christie supporters, for their first and second choice in the Republican presidential primary across four separate national polls conducted in January 2016.
So in other words, Christie dropping out is a non-factor in the race. All 4 benefit about equally. Essentially this polling demonstrates why Christie failed, he didn't resonate with any particular voter segment. Glad to see the drumbeat for Rubio continues on..../s/
Christie supporters are generally Chamber of Amnesty types.
They will go to Yeb! or Rubio.
Yes, hope springs eternal from the GOPe and MSM for a Kid Rubio comeback!
All four of them?!
or Kasich.
Well maybe one or two will just sit out this election in disgust like some have have threatened.
All of them? Is that several dozen people? As long as Rubio doesn't pick up Gilmore's supporters, the other candidates shouldn't worry.
All 37 of them?
I’m betting on an even split between Cruz and Trump.
Christie savaged Rubot in the last debate. So his voters are going to Rubot?
Just another example of the drug crazed mediots trying to support an open border thug, Rubot.
We were told early on that Christie was having trouble gaining traction as a hard nosed “truth teller” because all of those supporters went to Trump.
Programming complete, Marco awaits the signal to start spouting the same tired lines (over and over again).
Anything that extends Trump’s lead helps Trump.
Some eye opening comparisons here from the announcement speeches of Cruz, Trump and Rubio.....Rubio just didn’t have much to say except talk about himself. Cruz just kept asking for us to ‘imagine’....
Here is what Rubio, Cruz and Trump had to say about OBAMACARE, HEALTHCARE and Education in their announcement speeches
