Checking Cruz's climate science denial clangers [Left hits Cruz when Court blocks Obama's legacy]
The Guardian ^ | February 10, 2016 | Graham Readfearn

Posted on 02/10/2016 11:13:23 PM PST by Cincinatus' Wife

I have no clue how many climate science denial myths a Republican presidential candidate can fit onto the head of a pin, but given these zingers are generally huge it's probably not that many.

But we do now have some clue how many myths one of those candidates, Senator Ted Cruz, can fit into an eight-minute diatribe. At least six.

When asked about climate change at recent hustings, Cruz has been delivering a stock set of answers from the Little Book of Climate Change Denial (not a real book).

At one such event in New Hampshire, the representative from Texas delivered a diarrhea-like splurge (sorry) of talking points, myths and cherry-picked factoids.

[BIG SNIP of idiocy: Graham Readfearn's list]

[6] Pseudoscience

As a sort of climax to his splurge, Cruz has been saying that climate change is the "perfect pseudoscientific theory" because it can "never, ever, ever be disproven."

This is a little bit like saying you can't disprove that there's a small community of genetically modified clown people living on Uranus (I suggest a quick check with a long-handled mirror).

But what would it take to "disprove" human-caused climate change? Well, here's a few things.

You'd have to first overturn the laws of atmospheric physics, and maybe then prove the atmosphere and oceans are not heating up, that the world's plants and animals on the move across the world are reacting to something else (like, say, messages from Uranus), that the oceans are rising just because they fancy it and that all the recent record hot years could have just come along by chance.

Shouldn't be too hard, eh?

Fraud - as the science community and politicians fix the numbers to get their desired result.

Stunning weather revelations:

When it’s sunny in the summer it’s warm
When it’s sunny in the winter it’s cold

Therefore, it can be assumed the sun can cause both warmth & cold.

Of course the laws of entropy don’t have anything to do with global warming either.

So why was Cruz unable to get ONE SINGLE REPUBLICAN SENATOR to his own climate change hearings? That’s how influential and powerful he is. He couldn’t get Milke Lee, Tim Scott, Jodi Ernst, Jeff Sessions on one other Republican to attend.

Course, they are all RINOS right?

a priori, who the hell cares if the earth is warming? I’ll be happy to buy oranges from ohio. it’s clear you me that there was once a glacier covering those future orange groves and now it’s gone so, yes, the earth is warming and soon, it’ll be cooling again. Life is change, get used to it.

Finally...we agree on something. Go to Wikipedia and look up who the big CO2 ‘polluters’ are. China’s kicking our butts and has no intention to take orders from us.

Therefore we cannot SAVE THE WORLD, even if we wanted to.

Very good, I never met a bacon I didn’t like!
Cruz is my second choice, any other year he would be my first choice. I have reasoned this through.
What we think in nano-seconds could fill a book. I will work out a post that will articulate my reasons in a succinct manner and will post it soon.

Graham Readfearn seems to have a Uranus fixation.

Maybe ‘fetish’ would be a more apt description of his pathology.

I'll take your expanded article headline as a barf alert.

Yes, the AGW agenda is very barfable and contraindicated by the geological record.

The ice is coming. We'll see it in 1200-1800 years, when temperatures suddenly fall off the table. Then we'll be wondering if we generated enough CO2 to keep us all from freezing to death.

Cold equals dry equals crop failure. If that happens, it won't matter if the Communists have total control of what's left of the economy, we're all going to starve, who don't own deep-ocean fishing boats.

[You, quoting Cincinatus] In contrast to the claims of this article, there are multiple alternatives to AGW for climate change, ....

Let me add one. Geophysicists and astrophysicists and astronomers have identified, they think (let's say they hypothecate it), the spiral arm of the galaxy that caused the "snowball earth" episode 600,000,000 years ago, when our planet spent hundreds of millennia transiting a particularly densely-dusty and gas-filled spiral arm that filtered solar radiation sufficiently to refrigerate the planet and turn the oceans into solid ice.

Insolation rates are critical to ambient atmospheric temperatures. The reason the Green Communists don't like to talk about insolation is that it cannot be blamed on (correctable, dirigisme-susceptible) human activity. Similarly, the shrinking ice caps on Mars cannot be blamed on people's economic activity, so the AGW crowd never talk about them, but populate their chat with drowning polar bears (oops -- polar bear populations are up).

Cruz is trying to not be nuanced so he can communicate clearly, but the fact is...the world has warmed up, will warm up, because it has been since the last great ice age.

The issue is the human contribution to the warming, it is so small that it isn’t even registering in any statistically significant way over the natural warming.

The only so-called proof that it exists, is in computer simulations. Anyone will tell you, that you can’t statistically prove anything off a statistical simulation. Statistics on Statistics doesn’t work, it lies.

Was Trump mentioned in this Article?

Yes, FTA:

The Donald, currently leading in the polls for the Republican nomination, also denies the science of human-caused climate change. So does third placed Marco Rubio. It’s a hat trick.

When I was a teen it was global cooling. Now that I’m in my senior years it’s global warming. I lived 30 miles from Chicago were we got lake effect snow,I remember shoveling snow up to my butt as a teen and the eldest, rest to young to do it.

I’ve seen bad winters and summers, and vice versa come and go. If we were going to have global warming it would have happened during the Industrial Revolution when pollution was not regulated and nearly every one used wood or coal to heat their homes. Any one remember the Dust Bowl? http://www.history.com/topics/dust-bowl over grazing is a big problem all over the world.
