Former Mexican President Felipe Calderón told CNBC Saturday that his country would not contribute âa single centâ to the building of Donald Trumpâs proposed wall.
âMexican people, we are not going to pay any single cent for such a stupid wall!â Calderón, who served as president from 2006 to 2012, said. âAnd itâs going to be completely useless.â
âThe first loser of such a policy would be the United States,â he added. âIf this guy pretends that closing the borders to anywhere either for trade [or] for people is going to provide prosperity to the United State, he is completely crazy.â
Trump appeared on MSNBCâs âMorning Joeâ Tuesday and offered a response to Calderónâs comments.
âI heard the head of Mexico said âno way,â and I said, âNow the wall just got taller,â the Republican candidate told âMorning Joeâ hosts.

NICE!!!
Double down, dude!
YES!!!!! Build it TALL and W I D E!!!!!
He’s so quick-witted.
THAT WAS YUGE!
Good walls make for good neighbors...
I don't hear Mexico caving in to the threat.
Trump should make a pledge to eradicate all street gangs in this country.
:: Now the wall just got taller ::
Ain’t that the sh*t!
Trump comes back hard everytime. Entertainment...bread...circuses.
Man, this guy is making the 2016 campaign season FUN (again).
I’d hardly call quick witted a complement. It’s akin to outsmarting the Special Olympics participants.
Ronald Reagan would now be saying, “Mr. Trump, build up that wall!”
From what I gathered in a documentary about Hadrian’s Wall a few years back, it actually ended up promoting trade in the area.
Nah...but, get 10 million illegals together, pay them for wages and have them build the wall from the Mexican side of the border.
I don’t care if Mexico pays for it, Trump is full of crap on that anyway. But I’ll be happy for my tax dollars going to building the wall, as long as it gets done.
It sure is nice to see nice to hear tough words used in defense of Americans rather than directed AT Americans. Thanks, Trumpy!
Since when is a FORMER president “Mexico’s Response”? That would be like George W. Bush opining on a deal with TPP. He’s not a player.
