Former Mexican President Felipe Calderón told CNBC Saturday that his country would not contribute âa single centâ to the building of Donald Trumpâs proposed wall.
âMexican people, we are not going to pay any single cent for such a stupid wall!â Calderón, who served as president from 2006 to 2012, said. âAnd itâs going to be completely useless.â
âThe first loser of such a policy would be the United States,â he added. âIf this guy pretends that closing the borders to anywhere either for trade [or] for people is going to provide prosperity to the United State, he is completely crazy.â
Trump appeared on MSNBCâs âMorning Joeâ Tuesday and offered a response to Calderónâs comments.
âI heard the head of Mexico said âno way,â and I said, âNow the wall just got taller,â the Republican candidate told âMorning Joeâ hosts.

“If this is what passes for conservative thought, I fear for our country more than ever.”
Silliness, we have had civil discussion with the GOP for 15 years now and all we get is the finger. So voices and tone are becoming more serious. Before you run to the fainting couch, I guarantee you have done the same with a child or a husband or a coworker. Repeated violations bring us to the “you had BETTER pay attention and listen to me” moment.
That’s al this is. Its not the end of the republic.
I understand the concern about the language. I dont agree with it, think its low class but considering the energy and frustration people are releasing ...it makes me wonder the offense I will cause when we win and I start hanging the heads of dead liberals in front of my house like victory trophies.
Y’all white people be funny...
What action can he do now?
Love him, we did. Saw my first Flyers game at the Spectrum in 1969.
LET IT BE!!!!
RUN THAT BOARD!!!!..GO TRUMP!
Not really, no mexico really has no say...Mexico is in debt to us for the damage its done.
“and certainly more vulgar. Can his Trump or his supporters not speak or post without crude language? Ill buy you a thesaurus”
Oh give it a rest!! In a way, it’s refreshing to hear the words in public that they routinely use behind closed doors. BTW according to that great linguist, George Carlin, “pussy” is not one of the serven words you can’t say on television! It’s your mind that determines whether or not a word is bad. It’s called “CONTEXT!”
You know, my wife and I have 3 adopted special needs kids who participate in Special Olympics. And given the nature of your post, I can tell you that they come off with a much higher degree of intellect than you do.
So perhaps you ought to shut just clamp down on your thoughtless Okie pie-hole before making another ill-considered comment.
That would mean that America was paying for the wall.
It is a shame the former president of mexico is so stupid. DT never said stop trade or anything else. He said build a wall to keep out those who continue to pour through our borders with no intent other than to harm the US. We will have a far greater chance to keep the feeloaders, the drug runners and the terrorists out. You build a wall/fence...anone who tries to cross gets shot. Just like the Israeli border.
And, just in case you didn’t know...
Bob Dole
John McCain
Mitt Romney (and his daddy George)
LOST in the general election.
I revel as expected...
“Don’t telegraph your position before action Its about as effective as dropping warning leaflets on Taliban areas an hour before bombing.”
You are WAY out of your league. And its obvious you’ve never had people come walking towards your position waving a leaflet in surrender. The Germans announced in the NT that they would sink the Lusitania. In WWII we made wide use of leaflets. In many ways we have widely used them and get better results that you would know.
There is something very strong about saying this is what we are about to do, cooperate or be destroyed.
Again, let us know when our book on military experiences and tactics comes out. Stick to etiquette lessons sawbones.
Mexicans will not stop applying for Visas if Trump is elected, and that’s where the money is going to come from.
They will cave.
With a trade imbalance of $40 billion per year, they will gladly pony up $4 billion per year (10%) in import taxes just to continue the revenue flow back to them.
Enjoy your time on your high horse. We'll let you know when it's safe to climb down.
50% tax on all remittances to Meheco. Confiscation of any funds exceed $100 at the border.
Sure, but it would get built (AKA: doing the jobs our citizens don’t want to do) and, when complete, the citizens can just turn around and go home, where they belong.
The USA will pay them minimum wage to work and then go home.
That, my friend, is a free-market business plan.
There is no universal right for any human being to be provided the largess of another sovereignty simply because their country can’t provide it for their own citizens.
Agree it is much more profane that when I joined.
It is not a recent thing I noticed, and DT had no input, as I can see, as profanity was a problem well before he entered the public stage (your linked thread is from 2010).
What has changed, in my view, is FReepers no longer self-censoring and the admin mods—due to overwork, I imagine— easing standards and either missing or allowing things to get personal and profane.
In years past such rants would never get near the low level they are today. . .and such low-level exchanges are not limited to political threads, but any thread.
It seems to take just a few posts, if that, before an exchange is personal and profanity begins to show itself.
A: “I think this”
B: “You are stupid and wrong”
C: “No, you are not only stupid and wrong, but also XX%%@$$#”
D: “HDHGX%#@%$&*%”
And it is not uncommon for this to happen:
A: “I say this”
B: “HDHGX%#@%$&*%”
Cheers,
