What jobs? BLS says 665,000 job LOSSES
Washington Examiner ^ | 02/05/16 | Paul Bedard

Posted on 02/05/2016 9:41:02 AM PST by Enlightened1

New Bureau of Labor Statistics shows that there were 665,000 jobs lost in January, a blunt finding that confuses the heralded report that 151,000 jobs were created in January in non-farm payrolls.

But who got them? The very same BLS finds that jobs to "native born" and immigrant workers dropped. Ditto for men and women.

It is possible that many employees took on a second job, according to analysts. But a difference of 816,000 is too big, one said.

Same for the differences in the two surveys the BLS uses to gauge jobs, household data from the Current Population Survey, and "Establishment" data from the Current Employment Statistics, a survey of businesses. Normally they track but not always.

Still, the household data showed the growth -- and the decline. Consider these BLS numbers based on household data. In January, there were 25,328,000 "foreign born" workers employed, a one-month drop of 98,000.

In January, there were 123,710,000 "native born" men and women employed, a one-month drop of 567,000.

Analysts note that there are several ways to count jobs created and lost but the losses shown among men and women, foreign born and immigrants, is significant, said a congressional expert, who told Secrets, "Maybe big thing this month is just the decline in number of native born workers drops over half million in a month?"

President 0bama would have us believe that only a half-dozen people are out of work in the entire country right now.

In case anyone at the Bureau of Labor Statistics reads FR, I have a suggestion. Drop all the fancy studies. Simply roll one green and one red die, then follow this template:

(green roll X 100,000) new jobs were created while (red roll x 50,000) jobs were lost.

So if the green roll was 4 and the red roll was 3:
400,000 new jobs were created while 150,000 jobs were lost.

That would be as valid as anything else they say.

I get so tired of the spin from the MSM and the Obama administration of how well our economy is doing and how many jobs are being created. To put truth to the lie, all you have to do is look at the government’s own statistics. In 1994, unemployment was 5.7%. Today, it’s reported to be 4.9%. In 1994, the U.S. population was 265 million. Today, it’s 322 million—an increase in population of 21%. Back in 1994, the number of people NOT in the labor force was 66 million. Today, that number is over 95 million, or an increase of 44%. If the number of people that are no longer in the labor force has grown at a pace that’s more than DOUBLE the percentage of population growth, it’s statistically impossible for “unemployment” to be a smaller number.

More Big Lies from the Obama Administration.

Obama actually needs a steady stream of job losses to keep his scam alive.

Obama has done nothing for job growth or economic expansion.

All of his lower unemployment statistics are from laid off jobless exhausting their 99 weeks of official unemployment and then falling off the official roster of ‘the unemployed” only to be fraudulently picked up by Social Security Long Term Disability .

If there were no steady stream of laid off workers signing up and then exhausting their unemployment benefits to replace the ones dropped off from the official rolls, the official government unemployment rate would be close to zero, an impossibility that would expose the Obama scheme for the scam that it is.

Simple. 800,000+ jobs disappeared. 151,000 crappy, mostly low pay and no benefit jobs were created. 665,000 is the balance that gets reported as “lost”.

Depends on what the meaning of "statistically impossible" is.

Good news comrades, our chocolate allotment has increased from 20oz to 15oz. Thank you Dear Leader.

It’s like inflation. They constantly manipulate the inflation figures (1)so they don’t have to increase cost of living increases on social security and other social programs that have a cost-of-living component; (2) they don’t have to pay on inflation-adjust T-bills. So they constantly change their “basket of goods” to conclude there is no inflation by putting in “substitutes.” For example, if once the cost of meat was measured by a piece of steak, it is now cat food as a substitute.

We need a British or Canadian newspaper to give us the truth.

The MSM and Obama has been BS us for years.

Trump says the real unemployment rate is like over 20 percent.

Hannity says over 100 million out of the labor force.

We know that at least 20 million illegals are in the country.

We can’t get the Truth. Lies all Lies.

The official Unemployment Rate is defined by the government as anyone who was looking for a job and did not work a single hour in the specified time period.

So, you retire and you don’t count.

Go on disability and you don’t count.

Stop looking for work and you don’t count.

Go to school full time and you don’t count.

This is why VA disability and SSI are easier to get right now that ever before. This is why they encourage kids to stay in college forever (you don’t make student loan payments as long as you stay in school).

The real number to watch is the Labor Participation Rate. It is published but not talked about, except by people like Trump or Hannity. That’s where the 20% unemployed figure comes from. Even the LPR doesn’t include some categories or it would even be higher (the 100M figure).

The state of the working economy is quite bleak and every new illegal alien, H1B, or outsourced job makes it worse.

What is going on is like trying to hold back a mounting tide. When the wall breaks the end comes suddenly.

Wish I was all in gold and silver.

Bureau of Labor Statistics shows that there were 665,000 jobs lost in January

They've got so many different job lists so we can either come up w/ any number we want for our politics or we can dig out exactly what we say a "job" really is.  My favorite is the biggest and broadest, the 'Household Survey' (the on that headline unemployment's based on) and they agree w/ the article if we leave out the seasonal adjustment --otherwise it's 600k+ added.  Any way we look at it tho the population grew by half a million and the number of folks not officially in the labor force that still want a job jumped by a couple hundred K.
