Following Rick Santorumâs inability to name a single achievement of Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) 79% , the media sought to answer the question for themselves. Yet many reporters appear to have come up empty handed.
As The Washington Postâs Chris Cillizza writes, a âmajor part of the problem is that Rubio doesnât have all that many accomplishments in the Senate.â
âWhen Rubio is asked to name his single greatest achievement in the Senate, do you hear crickets?â tweeted the National Journalâs Ron Fournier.
Though Rick Santorum was unable to name the accomplishments of the man he just endorsed, there are indeed several accomplishments that are quite noteworthy. Below are a few of Sen. Rubioâs achievements that Rick Santorum could have identified on MSNBC this morning:
(1) The Rubio-Schumer Gang of Eight Bill
The Washington Examinerâs Byron York has described the 2013 Rubio-Schumer bill as Rubioâs âsignature accomplishment.â Although Santorum seemed reluctant to mention it, Rubioâs immigration bill is probably the first accomplishment that comes to mind when anyone thinks of Rubioâs very brief career in the U.S. Senate.
Rubioâs immigration bill would have tripled the issuances of green cards, doubled the dispensation of foreign worker visas, and granted citizenship â and, thereby, welfare access and voting privileges â to illegal immigrants.

If anyone is for Rubio for President, they are for their Heirs ending up speaking Spanish.
exactly. One freeper told me that immigration was not his litmus test. Well it better be , because if we have no country which we won’t under Rubio then all other issues are mute.

You mean “moot.”
We have to vet his possible gaybo past, first.
The MSM will promote Marco through the nomination, then, when itâs too late for us to change candidates, they will drop the gay past bombshell on him.
Standard media question then: “Why won’t you admit it, Senator Rubio? Are you ashamed of your past? There is nothing wrong with experimenting with the gay lifestyle. Please, be honest. Don’t be a hypocrite.”
Christian conservatives stay home, and Hillary/Sanders wins. (The GOP is not called “the stupid party” for no reason.)

Legislators don’t have achievements. For the most part they just vote and deal. I can’t name a Cruz legislative achievement to be honest, not one he initiated and had driven through to implementation. As many as he spoke against, I can think of others he screwed up.
Cruz’s real achievements are as a lawyer with Scotus and Texas.
Rubio’s are as speaker of house in Florida.
Governors don’t really do anything either.
Trump, Carson, and Fiorina have actually accomplished things.
Even that list mounts up to — not much — regarding Rubio’s accomplishments. Where votes were involved, he was just one of many casting their votes.
Reminds me of John Kerry and his 2004 run. Kerry, after nearly 3 decades in the Senate, had so few accomplishments that he tried to claim a couple of bills/chairmanships of former Senator Bob KerrEy’s as his own.

Best accomplishment: he quit.
I must admit #5 was quit stunning to me... I am concerned about Rubio's Hawkish stance and his propensity to follow McCain/Graham.
I browsed through the 97 items in your list. What I noticed was a lot of busy work, talk and no action.
Of the 97 referrals to committees, amendments proposed, failed attempts to defund, etc., would you identify by item number the 10 or so most important accomplishments?
Thank you.
It is a lonely road when you are the only one willing to try and make changes and nobody on either side of the isle is willing to further those changes. They are all cowards and whores and the stupid people of this country keep electing them. I voted for Ted to try and change the status quo. It is not his fault there is not any other people in DC who love the constitution.
I was half expecting a list of the 7 days he was confirmed to actually be at the capitol...
This question was unasked and a completely, totally unimportant 7 years ago — why should it be important now??
And even worse, as a legislator (admittedly a mostly do nothing position as a junior person) Obama largely voted “present” at the State level — not even taking a position.
And now this is an issue??
Rubio isn’t someone I would vote for in the primary, however he is eons better than what is being offered on the left.
If it comes down to it, I don’t care how many bath houses he visited in his youth, I will hold my nose and vote or him in the general. Our country will not survival an additional 4 years of the leftist/faschist onslaught.
Uhh. We have a gay president now.
And Obama’s accomplishments in the Senate?
Joe Biden said it so well: "you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy"
