Ben Carson and his closest advisers are going nuclear against Ted Cruz and his campaign for spreading false rumors that he intended to drop out ahead of the Iowa caucuses.
Carson's close friend and adviser Armstrong Williams told The Hill in an interview on Wednesdaythat the Cruz campaignâs tactics were 'nasty, brutal and deceitful.'
'We've been told all along that Cruz's operatives play dirty and were capable of this stuff, but Dr. Carson never believed it, he felt like they had a respectable operation,' Williams said. 'Now we see firsthand that having integrity just doesn't matter to them. It's about honor and character, either you have it or you don'.t'
Williams said he's certain that Cruz knew the rumors about him dropping out were false but says the Texas Republican allowed his underlings to spread it anyway.
'He's a pure politician and will do anything to win,' Williams said. 'It doesn't matter who he does it to, friend or foe, whatever it takes to win. Cruz has been running as an outsider and calling Hillary Clinton dishonest. Well, Cruz is the one running without honor or integrity, and this shows he's just like everyone else inside-the-beltway.'
Carson has demanded Cruz fire those responsible for spreading the rumor, but Cruz has said he won't do that.
"After all the candidates worked so hard, and Dr. Ben Carson had a staff member lose his life working towards this day, to have someone like Cruz and his people deceive and spread falsehoods is unconscionable," Williams said.

According to an Internet search just now "Tricky Dicky" was something that a political opponent came up with in 1950. After that he was chosen by Eisenhower to be his VP. Kennedy apparently smeared him with the same nick name in 1960 also. This is despite the fact that Kennedy is the one who history shows was the cheater in 1960. And Kennedy didn't get a nick name.
On the Carson story: I read Gifted Hands, and this story is in it. Trump’s interpretation told me that the Holy Sprint had a lot more work to do with Donald Trump. It apparently still takes a two-by-four to the head to get his attention. I am sure several little Christian old ladies talked to him about the Carson comments. I would not be surprised if Ivanka or Melania talked to him about those comments.
Donald went to Church the day before the Iowa Caucus, and heard a sermon on humility. The Church didn’t know he was coming, but that “just happened” to be the topic. The next day he places second to Ted Cruz through a series in intricately timed “mistakes” about the Carson campaign.
YHWH’s hand is in this. We are near, or maybe in, Daniel’s Seventieth Week. Look up! Your redemption draws neigh!
âstrenuously objects...â?
Nice!
>>>Apparently, Carson himself disagrees with your take on it.<<<
Yep, because he knows its ultimately HIS mistake. By digging in his heels and trying to make this into something way more than it is, he is trying to change the narrative, look tough, and cover for his campaign’s ineptitude. Because no matter what was or wasn’t said about his campaign - HE STARTED IT by sharing his inexplicable travel plans with the press. WHERE WAS THIS OUTRAGE when Trump was comparing him to a child molester, mocking his conversion story, and savagely ridiculing his character? THAT did far more damage to him as a candidate, both in Iowa and beyond, than anything that happened Monday night.
His is not a winning strategy. The longer this stays out there, the more the truth will undermine him. And frankly, joining with Trump in this “dirty tricks in Iowa, we need a new caucus” shtick, will not broaden his base, and will likely alienate some of his supporters. He demanded an apology and received one. Its time to move on to New Hampshire.
I expect Carson to announce the suspension of his campaign at the National Prayer Breakfast. You know, the one he already suspended on Monday.
Where are the incensed voters who wanted to vote for Carson. Once again, there is no limit to the excuses that Trumpeteers are willing to make to help their crybaby liar candidate.
**The Ruling is you are a moron if you read from ANOTHER contender that your guy dropped out of the race, so vote for him!!**
True. We conservatives like to point out how dumbed down the lib voters are. You are proving how dumbed down many conservative voters have become. Another fact: Smart phones do not necessarily make people smart.
Also, is there any past history of a candidate quitting the race just a couple of hours before a vote? It probably has happened, but I sure don’t recall it. That would be something that would need more info than a silly tweet, imo.
Maybe Cruz got back some of the votes he lost because of the stupid mailer.
is there any past history of a candidate quitting the race just a couple of hours before a vote?...
Best deadpan of the day :)
Come on man, i’m in NYC, and if I got an email from Trump telling me Cruz was out, vote for him, I’d..delete it and not give it a SECOND thought.
Dr Carson should be furious about his staffers passing his schedule to the media which the Cruz campaign passed along to their people.
Its clear how amatuer the Carson campaign is
Cruz lied— stole the election and APOLOGIZES???
Finally, we have a true conservative candidate who is willing to play dirty and get in the mud pit to win elections (at least according to Trump, Carson, et al)! I’m glad to see that Ted and his team are willing to fight for votes. Haven’t seen that in the Republican Party in a long time.
Go Ted go!
Ted should play up that he is willing to fight in this election. Out of all the candidates his team is willing to fight for votes and refuse to let the election be stolen from them.
Go Ted go!
**Holy Sprint**
???? (LOL)
**Donald went to Church the day before the Iowa Caucus, and heard a sermon on humility. The Church didnât know he was coming, but that âjust happenedâ to be the topic.**
Could be true. But, what minister would admit to changing the topic upon seeing Trump come in. I would think that any minister (even a lib one in the PCUSA), with even just a few years of experience, can shift gears and deliver a 20 minute sermon on humility. The story of Jesus Christ’s first coming is dominated with his humility. Hence, most sermons have a humility message built right in. Pretty easy message to relay. Getting folks to model their life after Christ,........not so easy. Paul’s letters prove that.
Too funny, since quite a few of Carson's staff had moved over to Cruz's campaign a while ago, so he should know them quite well. Could this be why Carson is so "incensed", even though he said he had accepted Cruz's apology?
Guess he'll be getting even angrier since he just dumped another 50 staffers and they WILL be going to one of his competitors, if they are die hard campaigners.
I had sympathy for what happened to Mr Carson....but I understood a good part of the blame belonged to CNN. When Carson ignores that, ignores Cruz's apology and continues to focus his slander about Cruz being a "dirty player", he just shows me he's a desperate man trying to "juice up" his campaign since the money and support are drying up........
STOP. GABRIEL DOES NOT WORK FOR CRUZ.
Does it make you feel good to lie?
You know they were purposely deceiving?
Where were the RNC reps at all these precincts where this was happening?
Thanks very much! Don’t ya love it when a sermon “just happens” (to borrow your language) to be about something very relevant. I know that, on a personal level, it always amazes me and I find myself wondering, “How did he (the pastor) know I was struggling with that?”
Cheers!
**Iâd..delete it and not give it a SECOND thought.**
Just got off the phone with a truck driver friend of mine out in Cedar Rapids, IA. I asked him if he had heard about the Cruz/Carson voting kerfluffle. He said his wife is a Carson fan, and at the caucus, just blew it off and voted for him anyway.
He deleted it not long after he tweeted because he LEARNED IT WAS FALSE. he stupidly believed someone that was once was in carson camp but left not long ago.
He trusted the guy. He feels like a dummy now. But Gabriel DOES NOT work for cruz. He’s just a supporter and said he made a mistake .
