The bromance has long ended and the bitter battle is only beginning to rage between Donald Trump and Ted Cruz as the Republican presidential primary devolves into a slugfest now that the crowded field is winnowing down to let the dominate contenders duke it out leading into the New Hampshire primary.
But first, the results of Monday's Iowa caucus continue to be a point of contention days after Cruz was declared the winner.
On Tuesday, Cruz was forced to apologize to Ben Carson's campaign for misleadingly suggesting to caucusing supporters that the retired neurosurgeon planned to drop out of the race in an apparent effort to corral additional voters to the Cruz camp. Carson actually only intended to return to Florida to change clothes before eventually returning to the campaign trail.
After initially shocking observers when he appeared to accept defeat with a modicum of graciousness Monday night, Trump decided to lash out at Cruz Wednesday, tweeting that a "either a new election should take place or Cruz results nullified"
Trump amplifying Carson's allegations of "dirty politics" played by the Cruz campaign surely wasn't what was expected when Cruz admitted fault while still defending his campaign's action as "fair game." After all, the Cruz campaign initially denied the allegations.
"For months, my campaign has survived the lies and dirty tricks from opponents who profess to to detest the games of the political class, but in reality are masters at it," Carson complained on Monday before citing various "political tricks" by the Cruz campaign.
During an interview with right wing radio host Mike Gallagher today, Cruz walked back much of his admission of guilt and shifted blame to the liberal media for turning Carson against him.

I don’t think it was fraud. If God wants to give America another chance to outlaw abortion, Cruz will be the one to do it. Otherwise the US and the world, is toast.
So here is the timeline again:
4:43 CNN says Carson not going to NH/SC, but going home to Florida and then the prayer breakfast
6:29 Rubio repeats
7:00 Cruz repeats
7:30 CNN says it again
Iâm really not sure why Cruz is getting slammed for this.
********************************************
I said that something is really fishy here. I saw Carson on O’rielly last night and he wouldn’t even blame CNN. I think Carson and Trump are in trying to take down Cruz.
“......Iâm not buying it...I think he was ready to wrap it up and somebody talked him out of it.”
Well, whether you are or aren’t “buying it,” the fact is he’s still in and nothing in his statement about returning to Florida comes anything close to an admission that he was thinking of quitting. Cruz sank himself with me. He’s now no better than Mitt Romney. I simply would have a hard time thinking of him as president. No trust!
MEDIA MY a$$$ his staff BLANTENLY SAID they CONFIRMED with Carson camp!!!! LIARS!!!!!
RE: Just another politician
Nope, a clarification based on new information is just that -— a clarification.
See Post #69 above.
CNN’s first tweet was 4PM something.
Rubio was 6:29.
Cruz was late to the game, actually.
Because the butthurt is strong with the trumpettes.
And the fact the The Mouth of Manhattan was 2600 votes from finishing 3rd when all the “experts” claimed he was gonna win by 5-7 %.
Cruz TEAM SAID they CONFIRMED with Carson camp!!!!! YUGE difference this was a BLANTANT LIE!!!!!! media had NOTHING to do with Cruz teams so called CONFIRMATION!!!!!
Cruz is looking more and more like Obama every day.
Your reply to this post was about a minute 40.
Conspiracy theorists think you are a paid lackey for Hillary.
In other words, a pack of oportunistic liars!
<><><><
Is that true of Trump’s social media organization also, or just the folks you don’t like?
RE: Cruz TEAM SAID they CONFIRMED with Carson camp!!!!! YUGE difference
Can you please show us the source for this?
All indication is this — CNN was the ORIGINAL source of this rumor.
Team Rubio and Team Cruz simply repeated this source.
legitimate case against Cruz.
What would that ligitimate claim be? It was based on a CNN report that was based statement made by Carson’s own campaign? This needs to die an early death, it is no more than nitpicking crocodile tears.
But Rubio has momentum from Iowa and heâs being pushed by the establishment. Fox is practically drooling over him. He needs to be exposed for his part in this sleazy scheme. He may be in 3rd now, but he wonât stay there.
I agree 100%. Ted Cruz wins Iowa and it becomes Rubio’s victory
RE: Cruz is looking more and more like Obama every day.
Not exactly if you look at the timeline.
See Post #69 above.
CNNâs first tweet was 4PM something.
Rubio’s repeat was 6:29.
Cruz was late to the game, actually. His team tweeted it at about 7 PM.
From the youtube video I posted above:
33 seconds before the Iowa Caucus start at 7pm, CNN reports the story.
a couple seconds before 7pm TedCruz campaign tweets BenCarson is returning to Florida and making big announcement next week.

With this and the voter violation deception he’s looking more and more like a Lawyer saying and doing whatever it takes to win for his paying clients.
Since when do we vote according to something a staff member of a candidate does or doesn’t do?...Come on.....if it only takes that to change your vote then must be your not an issues person...I am and Cruz stands solid. ...It’s a race and I give Cruz and his team all the room necessary to win....regardless if the media or anyone else likes it or not.... there’s always dirt going on behind the scene...’the media chooses’ what’s going to be thrown out there for public consumption and we know full well they are not in Cruz’s court..
Did Rubio apologize?
