On his radio program today, Rush Limbaugh dropped a bombshell report that the rumors of Ben Carson dropping out on Monday were actively encouraged by the Rubio campaign.
[Listen]
CNN reported that Dr. Carson was on his way back to Florida after the Iowa Caucuses. Staffers working for the Cruz campaign reportedly heard the story and began telling caucus-goers Monday night that Dr. Carson planned on dropping out of the race, allegedly attempting to swing voters for Cruz.
According to Limbaugh, however, there are reports that the Rubio campaign is just as much to blame for spreading these rumors, trying to convince Carson supporters vote for Rubio.
So why is the Cruz camp being attacked from all sides while Rubio is ignored?
Because "Cruz is the frontrunner!" Limbaugh says. "They don't think they can go after him on issues."

Rubio should get more blame than Cruz.
Well we know it wasn’t Trump because he had no one on the ground during the Caucuses. Also is Trump saying he won’t get any of the Carson voters if Carson drops out? Whose voters will Trump get if it comes down to two candidates?
Exactly, I stopped listening to Rush after the Obamacare lie about Trump. Quite frankly, I am getting more done around the house in my retirement time.
Why would anyone go from Carson to Rubio if they knew anything about the politics of today. It does explain Rush's phony connection that Rubio is running as a Reagan candidate. He needed to make that connection the other day to justify this hogwash.
Wait! I thought Rush was in the tank for Rubio!:)
“You too are more than welcome to present statistical analysis that shows Cruz benefited more than Rubio...
Of if in fact any significant shift occurred. “
I dont have to. The story lends credence to the fact that something happened. Cruz’s people cop to them doing it. Cruz apologized to Carson.
Saying “What difference does it make” doesn’t make it ok.
You are a blessing, Sister. Thank you.
Question is whether it comes down to Trump/Cruz. I can see more moderate voters going to Trump. We will see very soon if Cruz has a broad appeal or not. I think the rest of the country is more like NH than IA.
“it sounded as if he was withdrawing”
That’s BS and Ted Cruz apologized for it.
“Cruz is the frontrunner!” Limbaugh says. Let’s see, Trump is at 40% Nationally, Cruz is at 13%, but Cruz is the ‘Front Runner’ according to El Fatso.
It did sound that way — and they should have confirmed it before spreading it around.
But Rubio’s people were already spreading it far and wide.
Hi McGruff —
I saw this King tweet before. But, being a simple, easy to confuse, man that does not use Twitter (but is familiar with photoshop), what is the explanation for King’s tweet bearing the date of Feb 2 when the caucuses were on Feb 1. Is Twitter really that messed up on dates? Or are tweets “embargoed” for a time before being released?
Like I said, I’m confused.
Thought so.
We have a winner!!
It’s is amazing to see FReepers piling on to Cruz about this when the only person it helps is Rubio to do so. I don’t trust Trump at all either. Trump, FNC, and the GOP- e all focusing their attacks on Cruz. I hope he can withstand the onslaught of attacks.
Touchy, touchy. You could be Donald Trump’s twitter double!
If he was just going home to get clean clothes, why did he even announce it? Or was it CNN making a big thing out of it? A tweet from CNN said he wasn’t going to NH or SC. I don’t even take that long to do laundry.
Who knows, all the attacks might even help Cruz. We shall see.
Why would you ‘go home’ at that time if you were still in it?
Rushie promoting the GOPe, quelle surprise!
