On his radio show yesterday, Mark Levin rightfully blasted the media for spinning the Iowa caucuses. They are, he explained pretending that Marco Rubio was the winner of the night because he got a larger share of the vote than projected.
He did. But that does not make him a winner, Levin said: Rubio finished third... which is exactly where the polls had him. Yes, he received more voters, but he placed as expected.
As Levin pointed out yesterday, the real winner of the Iowa caucuses was Ted Cruz. Not only did he perform better than thought by finishing first rather than second, and not only did he get 4% more than projected in the RCP average, he also took on the ethanol lobby, the MSM, and the establishment... and he walked away with more voters than any Republican candidate in Iowa's history.
That's the real story here, not that the establishment favorite -- who was supported by establishment politicians, whose Super PACs relentlessly went after Cruz, who was pushed continuously by the media -- ended up finishing third, but with a higher percentage than expected.

Yeah, they went into nearly full media blackout mode on Cruz again so fast, just like they do any time he’s got a great success story to tell. I do wish Cruz had gotten out there to do his victory speech first instead of letting Rubio and Trump get ahead of him.
Cruz was de-endorsed by the governor and campaigned on cutting subsidies to Iowa, and won anyway. If not for the ethanol issue, his margin of victory would have been even bigger, and that’s not a negative in any other state.
I noticed the FR straw poll swung back in Cruz’ direction yesterday, with Trump just slightly ahead now. Be interesting to see if there’s a bandwagon effect on the NH or SC polls.
I will tell you that I believed the Ted Cruz con. I thought he was an outsider.
I really am kind of sick to my stomach at having found this out about Ted.
I don’t know what the long con is on this one. Rove blasts Cruz yet Cruz has so many Bush connections.
I am so fed up with our country and their refusal to protect the US.
I do know Trump does believe in protecting the US. Not happy about his health care beliefs. But my god, I don’t want another Bush in the White House ...whether it is one with the name or one backed by the name.
Megyn Kelly kept praising Rubio’s unlistenable dreck of a speech as brilliant and meanwhile was snickering at Cruz’ amazing, passionate speech and calling it too long. Total bias.
Trump’s making a total jackass of himself spewing profanity in his speeches again. And people still think this guy is a credible presidential candidate?
I’m with you dforest, the game is revealed and anyone with a concern for how this is going to play out, should really wise up.
Just read an article regarding Texas and how many refugees are flooding the place, bringing chaos that fits the barry regime. Did I somehow miss Ted making a stink about this?
Well, this cycle was landmark for corny.
Found what out about him? Trump’s longtime associate writes a hit piece full of spin on Cruz and you act like it’s a major revelation? There’s no new info in there. You think suddenly that every person who worked in the Bush administration no matter at how low a level is evil or something? Where else would any conservative aspiring to rise in the ranks and influence the government for the better at that time want to be? You might recall that no one on FR wanted Gore or Kerry to be elected.
âIt may have been the heavily air Cruz ad showing Trump bulldozing an old widowâs house...â
The sin of omission. What you neglect to say is the Cruz AD was a baldfaced lie. The little old lady’s house was never bulldozed by Trump.
After the National Review article came out, Fox had almost non-stop coverage of people defending Trump and bashing National Review. Fox had no idea at that time Rubio had a chance in Iowa, so they were pushing Trump hard. Now they think Rubio has a chance so they’re pushing him. Fox backs the biggest RINO who they think can win at any given time. It’s the Anybody-But-Cruz network. Cruz is the ONLY conservative running in this race...the ONLY one. And Fox will do everything in their power to destroy him.
Utterly meaningless because he wanted to and would've if he was allowed to at the time.
You can have your opinion. I don’t care what it is.
I have been around the block. This CIA/NSA/CHERTOFF connection is not nothing.
You can't have as many conservative backers as Cruz and not be conservative.
The establishment came out all over the place before Iowa and said they prefer Trump to Cruz. That game is over. We have piles of absolute proof Trump is more establishment than Cruz.
“Utterly meaningless because he wanted to and would’ve if he was allowed to at the time.”
What a crock. Try to disattach your lips from Cruz’s derriere.
Why do so many Trumpsters gravitate to paranoia and conspiracy theories?
Do you think that you may be reading into this a little too deeply? So what if this guy from Chertoff is running his campaign. Maybe he was selected because he is good at running a campaign? I don’t know...it just sounds too conspiracy oriented. No worries if that is you opinion...you are definitely entitled to it.
btw, how in the world do you think Chertoff was low level staff in the Bush Admin? Get real. chad Sweet-Chief of Staff of DHS low level staff??? come on...
Btw, you do know that Directorate of Operations is the Clandestine Service?
“Cruz is Establishment. There is no way around that Bush cohorts are behind his campaign.
Chertoff Group is one well connected player.”
When you look at the GOP establishment of the past quarter century, what have its primary props been?
1. Bullhorn devotion to the Constitution and national strength.
2. De facto meshing with international institutional capital and globalist agendas and ideology.
3. Impressment of piety into a dumbed down, crass amen corner to praise and adore Caesar and the State.
Look at Cruz. Look at his wife. Look at his father. There are the devotees to those three props.
You will see, that closely knit, the synthesis of everything that has supported the status quo GOP that systematically dismantled Reagan’s revolution.
Cruz is the third Bush administration.*
*(Bush 2.5 is flopping weakly, drying out on the dock, and soon to die)
I wanted him for SCOTUS. I have changed my mind.
These people on this site that think his connection to the Chertoff Group means nothing need to do a lot more research.
So...who do support for president? Curious...
“You can’t have as many conservative backers as Cruz and not be conservative.”
The blighted, wasted Bush years prove this wrong.
