Pakistani police have arrested the imam of a mosque for inciting violence after a 15-year old boy who was told by the cleric that he was a blasphemer went home and cut off his own hand.
Shabbir Ahmed was delivering a sermon at a village in the east of Punjab province when he asked the gathering if anyone did not love the Prophet Mohammad.
Mishearing the question, the 15-year old boy raised his hand. Ahmed quickly singled him out and called him a 'blasphemer' in front of the congregation, police said. After returning home, the boy cut his hand off and then presented it to the cleric on a plate, an act welcomed by the boy's father who told police he was proud of his son.
Police filed anti-terrorism charges against Ahmed and arrested him on Saturday, police chief Ali said.

Your recollections make no sense. Plenty of instances of purple vestments worn by priests. Some orders even wear all purple.
To trip over a stone in the bubbling brook when there is no wind.
...and yet they call Christians crazy for believing that it was Jesus who paid the price for our sins; that we don’t have to punish ourselves or be punished by the ‘church’...
didn’t Christ condone fasting, a form of self-punishment?
The sermon was probably on penance. You should have talked to someone to clear up your perception.
I think if you looked into the colors that priests wear on different occasions, it might give you some insight.
Sounds like allahu hackbar.
Nope. Fasting is not a punishment, it is merely refraining from eating in order to focus on prayer and communing with God.
Words fail me.
I was very, very young, and probably not old enough to realize, if I misunderstood the message. Then my parents divorced a couple years later, and the priest told my mother not to come to that church any more.
I’m a “recovering Methodist” and even that sounds strange to me.

Prior to our First Communion, we had our First Confession. I was told to say five Hail Marys. Not understanding that the priest meant the entire prayer, I said Hail Mary five times, and left. I made my first communion, and wafer didn’t even burn my tongue.
"And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me. But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea. Woe unto the world because of offences! for it must needs be that offences come; but woe to that man by whom the offence cometh!"
- Matthew 18:5-7
When we were young we did pinky blood. This takes it to a whole new level!
LOL, I like your style!
He was great in confessional, too. 3 Our Fathers and 3 Hail Marys.....no matter what you did. You made sure you got in his line.
But the biggie was on an Easter Sunday.
We had a morning paper route and someone gave us candy. I forgot and ate a piece. I was probably 10 and had to make a "fast" decision. I went to communion.
I must be old. We were genuine blood brothers (even though I'm a girl). Used the razor in the snake bite kit. I think my brother just wanted to see if I had guts. Sure did!!
No more muzzies.
If he raised his right hand and used his haram left hand to inflict allah’s punishment in cutting off the right hand, that is even more blasphemy and he’ll have to have the left hand removed. How he will now wipe his ass is anyone’s guess.
Omg! The kid will be crippled for life now — Islam is such a terrible, Satanic cult— it really must be eliminated
