Sanders campaign cites ‘alarming’ signs Clinton plans to pack the caucuses

Jeff Weaver, the presidential campaign manager for Sen. Bernie Sanders, D-Vt., says he is worried Hillary Clinton's team is resorting to "irregular" tactics to win the Iowa caucus on Feb. 1.

[Snip]

"I think this raises a very serious concern that they're infiltrating the caucuses with out-of-state paid staffers," Weaver said. "I would hope that the media will be able to get to the bottom of this before Iowans go to the caucuses on Monday night."

The Sanders team is soooo stupid to think that a Clinton would not try to cheat!

This is what Obama did to her in 2008, yes?

Pardon me for being so bold, but isn’t that exactly what you are supposed to do?

Hey Sanders, kind of late in the game to be finding this out.

Sanders should be glad she is just cheating and no using her preferred method of getting rid of obstacles...

If Clinton didn’t cheat, I’d be astounded.

Isn’t that the point of a caucus? That’s why Obama beat her in 2008.

“What difference does it make?” (Yeah I know) But the out-of-state workers don’t get to vote, so are they trained in voter intimidation (no that Cruz) or destroying ballots or stuffing the box or what?

Hey News for ya Bernie, all the campaigns do this. It is part of the game in Iowa. It is one of the reason Iowa is usually irrelevant to the outcome. Iowas caucus system is too easily determined by how strongly organized the candidate is, not on their overall strength with voters.

“Sanders should be glad she is just cheating and no using her preferred method of getting rid of obstacles...”

Exactly, Sanders does not want to find himself committing suicide by shooting himself in the back of the head a half dozen times

"The Sanders team is soooo stupid to think that a Clinton would not try to cheat!"

Technically, this is not cheating. These paid staffers go into the caucus and give speeches, cajole, lobby, offer "information" (which may, or may not be accurate).

They do not vote.

It is precisely the method that Cruz will employ.

Unseemly as hell, and not in keeping with the spirit of the caucus, but legal.

Sounds like the Clinton team learned from the Obama campaign in Nevada in 2008.

All she has to do is show up in a # 12 football jersey. That should cast all doubt.

Packing the caucuses with out of state college students is an old liberal Dem tradition. Paid staffers? Maybe to lead the troops.

Packing caucuses is not "irregular." It's what they're all about. They are based on the idea that candidates whose supporters have the most adrenaline and skulduggery should get extra points.

Common liberal practice...

Just like picking up homeless etc and busing to registration and to polls with promises of cigarettes and/or beer for their vote...

C’mon, Bernie. You’ve been around long enough to know what sort of underhanded kneecapping mob tactics the Clintons will resort to in the pursuit of power.

While I agree with you, I think it's amusing that Clinton would resort to legal technicalities to give her an edge. Once a lawyer, always a lawyer!

On the other hand, if there was some nationally-recognized supporter from outside the state, what's the harm in having them endorse you?
