Trump: Unlike Cruz, ‘I Have a Heart,’ I’ll Enact Universal Health Coverage
National Review ^ | January 31, 2016 12:20 PM | Tom S. Elliott

In an interview this morning on This Week, Donald Trump cited his desire to "help people" as the reason he favors government-funded universal health coverage. Unlike Ted Cruz, Trump said, "I have a heart."

"If somebody has no money and they're lying in the middle of the street and they're dying, I'm going to take care of that person," Trump said.

Where it belongs, because Congress has no specifically enumerated power to provide healthcare.

So then you're for President Trump pushing the mandate for universal healthcare onto the states and making them pay for it?

You posted “I am not collecting Medicare”

Medicare is a govt program that pays doctor and hospital bills. It doesn’t pay funds to patients. So I assumed you were a physician that opted out of serving govt funded patients.

The Congress is free to make laws concerning compensation [including benefits] for active military and veterans under its Constitutional authority to raise standing armies.

It's NOT empowered to create a healthcare plan for the rest of the country.

Too many of our citizens are out of work.

This increases the rolls.

Trump will get them back to work and on private insurance.

Geeeee .. obviously you can’t read .. I said, “If you don’t agree with me .. oh well”.

I don’t care what you believe.

And .. just so you know .. you’ve been on these threads for months and months and the only thing you have to say for yourself is how terrible Cruz is. WOW!

I STILL DON’T CARE WHAT YOU BELIEVE.

Well its a complicated issue. My belief is that it was Ok the way it used to be. You cannot be turned away from the County hospital. They have to treat you. Do the rest of us bear some financial burden in our taxes? Probably but if we could get rid of the 11-20 million illegals who clog the health system and cost billions we could likely easily afford to treat the people who are too poor to afford insurance at the hospital. That’s not health insurance coverage.

One thing we can all agree on Obamacare has to go. Then figure out what to do from there.

So then you're for President Trump pushing the mandate for universal healthcare onto the states and making them pay for it?

I'm for whomever the President is obeying the Constitution which he is sworn to support, protect, and defend.

The Supreme Court has already severely limited the Federal government's ability to force mandatory healthcare onto the states. [In upholding the individual mandate, it's part of 0-care that Roberts' majority decision struck down.]

So tell me, how will el Supremo force his mandate on the states exactly?

It’s fun

It's more fun watching Cruz-the-prophet go down in his hypocritical self-made flame. And the more he tries to talk his way out of his self-created fog the more bent-over, snake-like he becomes - like something out of Dante's 'Inferno' that is caught up and exposed in their own sin.

“Trump supporters need to get honest”

You guys are the ones that need some hack at National Review to write a piece of fiction, with a dishonest headline, that you can then post to FR, so like flies to s*it, you can run in and demand that everyone PROVE the fiction is fiction!

Frankly if Cruz is the nominee, I hope the leftist press does this to him every day, just so we can watch you people whine, moan, and cry about how “unfair” it is.

And the funny thing is that they will, and National review, Glenn Beck and Levin wont be able to do a thing to stop it.

He made it absolutely clear this is NOT SINGLE PAYER
is this before he said he loves the Scotish healthcare system or after?
he changes his tune to suit the brainless people we seem to have here. Listen to the pied piper you freakin sheep. After Trump gets elected(God forbid) he will be a vengeful ass who will spend more time punishing those who spoke ill of him rather than ISIS or Illegals. So keep supporting this Mussolini wanna be. After 4 years of his crap you might end up begging for Cruz

The subject of this thread is the dishonest article in NR about today’s interview. Trump said he is against single payer.

In the interview you linked, Trump said there are many ways to cover everyone. On many occasions he has mentioned working with hospitals, charities and churches in order to cover everyone.

He did not say he is in favor of single-payer or universal health care- the interviever used that term. And he clearly said he would repeal and replace Obamacare.

“And .. just so you know .. you’ve been on these threads for months and months and the only thing you have to say for yourself is how terrible Cruz is.”

“And .. just so you know”??? What? is this like Cruz telling me what my voting record was?

You guys helped that along more than anything else to really putting me in a position of disliking this guy. And I stared out on the Cruz side last year.
