Well its a complicated issue. My belief is that it was Ok the way it used to be. You cannot be turned away from the County hospital. They have to treat you. Do the rest of us bear some financial burden in our taxes? Probably but if we could get rid of the 11-20 million illegals who clog the health system and cost billions we could likely easily afford to treat the people who are too poor to afford insurance at the hospital. That’s not health insurance coverage.

You can't be turned away from any hospital. They have to treat you...and they get to eat the costs. Which they pass along by increasing the charges to paying customers. That's your solution?

Agreed. But everyone but Ted Cruz talks about repealing and replacing. Repeal and be done with it. Nothing that the government could come up with would do anything but make it worse.
