I come from a ranching family and I’ve been on the ranchers’ side for decades in this fight.

Lavoy could have been such a positive force. It’s a shame he acted idiotically and got himself killed for nothing.

As much as I support the movement to restore our land to the states and people and get it out of the hands of the Fed, and as much as I think the homicide of LaVoy Finicum was absolutely unnecessary and government negligent aggression, I still think, and I’m pretty sure about this, that Bundy and Finicum put together a poorly thought out operation in Oregon.

I also think they monitored their operation in Oregon poorly. After about 2 weeks it was evident that had dug a dry well, and they should have hit the road. It really was evident after one week.

Someone might ask me the parameters of a worthy operation, and I’d have to say I haven’t thought about it so much in the land debate. But I know this wasn’t it.

[[I still think, and I’m pretty sure about this, that Bundy and Finicum put together a poorly thought out operation in Oregon.]]

I’m sure most of the revolutionary war peeps didn’t think things out well either, they just knew they had to stand up at some point because no one else was going to do it- At some point it does no good to keep rolling over- at some point it’s time to act- After having witnessed the occupy wallstreet protest, the protests in fuergeson- and watching how the feds and police stood back and did nothing- it isn’t such a stretch to think the Oregon group felt they could make a statement, and remain relatively safe, by occupying a building AND not committing crimes like the other two incidents did- But nope- they were wrong because they were white- and the government can’t have uppity white folks- and so they sent yet another loud clear message like they did in ruby ridge and Waco and ohio

Not Washington. He was intentional from the beginning.

I am extremely sensitive to and supportive of these people, Bob434, but I know a poorly thought out operation when I see one.

Agreed.

They took an opportunity and turned it into a loss for the ranchers.

I so much agree with you here that they might have thought that, but there is also the issue of monitoring your operation. They needed an outsider, perhaps, to have made that call and not one of those on the ground in Oregon.

Lessons learned is all I can say. I hope they write it down and file it.

He was, but many who fought were not- especially those In the civil war- and other uprisings against government abuse- What other peaceful action did they have? protest with signs? The government could care less about such protests- Hunger strikes?

One problem is that they didn’t have enough people willing to die for the cause if need be- but really, there wasn’t much else they could do other than make a peaceful-ish statement by occupying a building- How long have they petitioned their governors, mayors or whatever? Noone was listening-

This isn’t a loss because now the people see that our government will murder those that don’t comply- it reinforces the fact that our government is willing to do so (if the groups are white) and has brought attention to this fact- tragic as it is-

The peaceful protests don’t get very far we think, and especially when it’s not from some liberal group.

Perhaps the death of LaVoy Finicum will lead to something. I hope it does, but I also don’t think that was the plan. I never considered them harmful or suicidal. I still don’t. I don’t think they would have done this if they’d known ahead of time that their friend would be killed.

” America , stand... The night is far spent , the Constitution has been shredded , but it lives n your heart , you know what freedom is , and what freedom isn’t . STAND . Because when you stand others will stand with you . And God can’t stand with you if you don’t stand . And once you stand you can expect the hand of providence to be over you . It don’t matter how it ends , it matters how you stand . “

*LaVoy Finicum – American cowboy – RIP *

I’m an American cowboy too. My family came to Texas in 1823 with Stephen F. Austin. I’m descended from an Alamo Defender.

Don’t associate me with that fool.

I feel terrible for his large family that has to go on without him. He was a lot more valuable alive than dead.

Exactly. Ranchers and Patriots are under attack. LaVoy Finicum was murdered. They did not have to kill him nor did they have to shoot up the pickup with the other passengers in it. This was classic excessive force.

Now this little piece of breaking news. Shawna Cox the only woman that was arrested was released from jail last night. Her son in law was killed in a suspicious fire/explosion in Kanab Utah. The media are silent.

I have watched the video several times , along with close up enhancements

it was murder

like Ruby Ridge

You try and resist the Feds , they can and will murder you ,
and then hide behind the law to get away with it .
