Don’t really care if Trump has an outside the RNC debate with Cruz or not. He is free to refuse. Actually, I think both played the issue thinking it would never happen.

There have been six, count 'em, six debates. The RNC put all those folks on the stage, not Trump. They all had their shot. Trump took the bold positions, he took the media shots. And lastly, the other night he snubbed his nose at them. The only thing left is to start voting in the primaries. Enough already.

If Cruz produces a Consular Record of Birth Abroad, it will PROVE that he is naturalized & not natural born. So if he just stonewalls it, he can insist that he’s NBA & ‘’there’s nothing anyone can do’’.

Cruz's mom fulfilled all the residency requirements (see here) to confer birth citizenship, aka NBC.
The U.S. citizen parent was physically present in the United States for at least years, including at least 2 years after 14 years of age.

And just like your typical progressive, Trump wants the courts to get involved and overrule the will of the people, and reimagine the law in his favor.
Trump is no idiot, but he acts like one, especially on this birther issue. He knows Cruz is eligible, and his continued efforts to push this issue is going to hurt him more than it will hurt Ted Cruz.
