With Donald J. Trump absent from the debate stage, critics had a chance to focus on the rest of the Republican field. While the verdicts varied, Senator Ted Cruz of Texas was seen as starting strong but fading late, while Senator Marco Rubio of Florida had his moments but grew testy at times when faced with tough questions. Some thought Jeb Bush, the former Florida governor, had one of his most energetic performances, while the retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson barely registered.

That’s like saying the bat boy was the team player of the game
I would love to see the ratings for the Faux debate. I’m guessing well below 10 million viewers.
I didn’t watch a single one.
What doesn’t kill you only makes you stronger. Clinton hiding in the bushes as this political battle rages isn’t going to help her. It’s going to take a hell of a lot of voter fraud for her to win the presidency.
There was a Republican debate? On Faux News? Who knew!
Like all other debates....Cruz placed second place on the Drudge Poll..(even though, if it had been a poll of just the attendees, he would have won it) He had a weaker start, but he got better as the debate went over all.
Bush did better in this debate, but his bar is set so low. If all a person does is fail, a slight success will look like a huge one.
What I thought was dishonest was the way Megyn went after Cruz on his amendments to stop amnesty on the gang of 8 legislation in the debate. After the debate Megyn admitted to Cruz she had fully researched it, and Cruz was correct that it was designed to be a poison pill to stop the legislation. Only one purpose with that was to hit Cruz to make Rubio look better.
All the losers were over there.
Trump’s leading with 65% on Drudge’s poll! LOL!
And Obama has promised his faithful that a Democrat WILL win the Presidency in November. Trump, or whoever else, had better suss out where the fraud is and get in front of it!
She missed a lot for backing amnesty for George W. Bush to many speeches.
Trump is right Kelly not a Journalist there are many U-Tubes with Cruz backing amnesty
Ted Cruz did well and so did Marco Rubio, but to me, Ben Carson was the winner. He got the hardest questions and answered them well. Jeb Bush, on the other hand, looked wooden.
Bush actually was better than he had been at earlier debates, but no matter how good he is, he’s nothing new. That is, he’d be surrounded by the same old advisors and follow the same old policies as his father and brother. And every time he said something last night, that was essentially what he indicated.
Cruz and Rubio were too busy arguing with each other, although that was partly because the moderators had obviously structured it that way. By the end, I wasn’t sure what either one of them thought, although Cruz unfortunately came off as a little screechy.
I thought Christie was surprisingly good and I think he was the strongest one on the economy. The others? Carson, kasich and Paul were just cluttering up the stage, although Paul had a couple of amusing moments.
I watched the undercard debate first and I liked Fiorina - I wish she could get back into the running.
So last night was actually pretty interesting because we finally got to listen to the candidates actually addressing the issues. I don’t think anyone really “won” it, though.
I honestly think Trump won by not attending. The other candidates needed to change the status quo and they didn’t.
And, Jeb was at 0.9% last time I checked.
11 million according to CNN.
Well below the 24 million they had WITH Trump.
Huckabee and Santorum, for going down the street where some real work was done.
And he handily won the Time Magazine online poll of ‘who won the Republican debate’.
He won, without even showing up!
I disagree. The more she's out there and people see her and hear that awful voice of hers the more Sanders looks good to hardcore leftists.
