Maybe Trump will hold that lead over the next few days, who knows? As a perpetual reminder, Rick Santorum trailed in Iowa by 15 points a week before he won the caucuses in 2012, so it's very smart to assume that things could change dramatically.
But polling often does a poor job of predicting one of the most important aspects of what will happen on the night of the caucuses: Who will turn out and for whom. I've been on a bit of a kick to this effect for a few days now, but I can't reinforce it enough. If Trump or Cruz can't get their people to the polls, an easy race can become a close race and a close race can become a disaster.

The courts have never litigated the meaning of natural born citizenship as it applies to eligibility to be President. It needs to be. We do know that Cruz was a citizen at birth of Canada, which also has birthright citizenship,
Donald J. Trump has been closer to more Iowans than most, if not all of the losers. He attracts crowds whoever he goes. Nobody else has commanded such loyalty when weather is nasty and waiting times are lengthy.

In Iowa this matters. I will also tell you, I actually talk to people who support other candidates not just those that agree with me.
My take is the momentum and passion is with Cruz. To be fair there are some very passionate Trump followers but Cruz is a person many undecideds are still considering.
Another thing NO ONE talks about Cruz’ eligibility, and they are really angered, not just the Cruz’ supporters, at the Huckabee ads questioning Ted's faith. Also Trump missing the ONLY debate in Iowa is irritating people. They feel dissed.
I have been called my every campaign multiple times except for Trump, I answer all the calls, I have only been called once and that was to announce an event he was having.
If the massive turnout happens then Trump may win, but I have heard about this tsunami many times in many elections and it never quite happens. In Iowa caucuses a candidates ground game matters.

I really like Cruz but the eligibility issue is too big to ignore.
Thank you GodGunsGuts for all of your posts and assistance putting out information about Sen. Cruz. The 2016 election is one of the best opportunities conservatives and the GOP will have to win the White House. We have Hillary Clinton belonging behind bars, and a potential firestorm from FBI and intelligence community resignations when HRC is not indicted. And then we have Bernie Sanders, whose candidacy could lead to a 40-state Republican victory. The Dems could always try to counter with Joe “Gaffe” Biden or recycle Al Gore or John Kerry, two long-time losers. And with that backdrop, we have many Americans and too many people on this site supporting Donald Trump. THIS IS SO SAD. Our Founders always believed that the American people would always elect as president a man of the best character among us. Well, that’s gone out the window with Clinton and Obama. And now Republican/conservatives are going to support their own man of dubious character. Maybe the many Trump supporters on this site can defend Mr. Trump’s serial adultery (described in two of his books) and the breaking of his marital vows. So I would imagine that even though Mr. Trump broke his marriage vows, he apparently, in these people’s eyes, won’t break his word about building a border fence or making Mexico pay for it. We’ll see how those promises and everything else he says works out. Where’s his track record of keeping his word? And then we have the matter of Supreme Court justices with four of them at or close to 80 years of age. We going to trust him with the future of our out-of-control judiciary on the federal level. The Trump supporters are going to trust a long-time Democrat to appoint justices to the SC. Maybe he can appoint his sister, a federal judge, who authored a partial-birth abortion decision and would in Trump’s mind, make a phenomenal SC justice. After 60 million abortions, we’re going to trust Trump w/ the Supreme Court nominations. This man leaves much to be desired not only in character, but in judgment.
Visual cues because reading is not a strong suit for the average Trump supporter or canvasser.

I will point of that the son of a Cuban, born in Canada to an American mother is not what the founders would have thought of as a natural born citizen of the USA.
In fact until 1934 Ted Cruz would not have even been considered a citizen of the USA. A natural born citizen requires no laws to make them a citizen they just are. Cruz citizenship depends on naturalization act passed by Congress. He was naturalized at birth via Congressional legislation. He is NOT a natural born citizen if we follow original intent.
Now if the constitution is a "living document" then yeah "what ever". However not going by original intent is what gave us abortion on demand, same sex marriage and the IRS. So you might want to rethink that living document argument you are making.
Trump just holds rallies then flies back to New York.
That is because he has Santorum’s Iowa campaign manager who won it for Santorum in 2012. Guess what? Trump delegates and trusts his workers to get the job done. That is leadership. Trump wins this on Monday night. I wasn’t 100 percent until I heard about Santorum’s campaign manager who knows Iowa like the back of his hand. Now I am convinced.
