Trump: I'll work with Democrats
The Hill ^ | 26 Jan 16 | Jesse Byrnes

Posted on 01/26/2016 9:45:02 AM PST by elhombrelibre

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is stressing his bona fides as a dealmaker who'd be able to enter the White House and work with congressional Democrats to hammer out agreements.

"I think I'm going to be able to get along with Pelosi — I've always had a good relationship with Nancy Pelosi," Trump said Tuesday on MSNBC's "Morning Joe," referring to the House minority leader.

"Reid's going to be gone. I've always had a decent relationship with Reid," Trump said, referring to Harry Reid (D-Nev.), the Senate minority leader. "I always had a great relationship with Harry Reid."

Trump said he thought he'd get along with "just about everybody," including Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), likely to be the next Senate Democratic leader, who Trump said he was "close to ... in many in ways."

as opposed to Cruz who can't even work with Republicans.

You got that right. Every day the "true Conservatives" sound more like the hoary old Communists who insist that had we ever actually had a pure implementation of Communism and we'd have seen "Real Communism" take over the world.

Just as Communism never got around to delivering what it promised but did make it easy for the elite few to make themselves ever more comfortable and more powerful, so have "Conservatives" in this country found it far easier to do the exact same things without ever bothering to deliver anything they promise. Hence, a huge percentage of the population cannot see the benefits of Conservative principles through the haze of elitist implemented "Crony Conservatism" that works hard to unencumber the upper crust and their toadies while increasingly encumbering average people.

For example, who in their right mind really believes Conservatives are in favor of "Free Trade" when every day they see another small business put out of business for not kowtowing to queers, not having foreseen that a President who is dedicated to eliminating a basic could eliminate that industry and related businesses along with it, or having profit margins too thin to pay a wage well above industry norms when local government dictates that wage be paid ?

That's the "Conservative" principle of free trade in practice within the US where social and economic regulations combine to create high tariffs whatever "Free Trade" may be in theory. There's no real free trade for small business within the United States but "Conservatives" will fight tooth and nail to ensure there's free trade for those who donate to the Congress of Nobles and offshore whole industries.

Given the fact that Conservative principles do not work in practice as they do in theory when society is ever more corrupt and amoral, it's no surprise that Cruz, from Texas where oil is King, is praised as a "true Conservative" and "man of principle" when he says he'll end the Ethanol mandate. Never mind that to even have a shot at a second term as Senator if he flops running for President Ted had damn well better call for an end to Ethanol subsidies. (Especially now that it's doubtful Palin will come to his rescue next time around.)

Everyone who makes it through the Ivy League machine is convinced of two and only two things, 1) The majority of Americans are "little people" who exist only to be of service to the elites who make it through the Ivy League, and 2) principles are for "little people", something to swing them one way or another with depending on the needs of the elite few.

And Newt Gingrich (self avowed rigid conservative that he professes to be and much ballyhooed here by some at FR) sat on a couch with Nancy Pelosi,\. Your point?

And he was absolutely excoriated for it.

You remember that. Don't you?

The most dishonest, too. We’ll have our own Clinton to defend as he lies so often that it will be great evidence that we don’t care about anything but power. We will be the Machiavellian party with New York values.

If Trump builds the wall, stops illegal immigration and kills h-1B and other visa scams ( including admitting muzzie rapefuges ) he can do whatever he wants with Pilosi.

Please try to keep this in perspective.

What is the number one complaint about Congress these days?

Isn’t it that nothing gets done?

Who do you think Trump is reaching out to here?

Could it be crossover voters?

He has released his agenda. It’s good.

Now every burp is dissected to see if it’s an evil omen indicating he doesn’t want his platform to be implemented.

Reagan had to deal with Tip O’Neal.

Did we trash him for it?

What are we willing to negotiate away to get what Trump is promising?

What's the alternative to negotiation? I doubt that reading Green Eggs and Ham aloud until he gets his way would really be all that effective.

The two biggest questions in my mind are:

1.) Will the Trump fans abandon him when he reveals his true colors and campaigns as a progressive in the general election?

2.) Will they admit they were wrong when scandal after scandal after scandal emerges during the general causing him to lose by a landslide?

I am man enough to admit that I was fooled by Bush. I actually thought he was a conservative. In my defense, I didn’t have the vast majority of conservative pundits shouting from the rooftops that they guy was a RINO.

What will the excuse be for the Trumpeters?

That honor goes to George W Bush, frankly. As a result of his excellent compassionate conservatism [i.e., closet liberal] so distracted against domestic evils that he created the DHS, the TSA and Prescription Medicare.

He’s done more damage to us than any recent President I can think of except Obama who he ushered into office through his own neglect of what really matters.

I have a feeling that there are lots of "conservatives" now who are okay with that as long as it's a Republican implementing Democrat policies. Have you seen these films?

31 million more EITC “earners”. Should work really well. 100 million Americans not paying a dime and soaking up the benefits. Trumps plan equals 31 million more Americans who will vote for bigger, “FREE” benefits from me. Sounds great and if he’s elected, please send me a private message for my address. Just want to make sure you send me a nice thank you note.

He wins, but do we? I means seriously you believe he believes in conservative values? I don't give two hoots in hell about winning if it's more statism, more big government, more crony capitalism, more of the things that Trump has championed during his public years.

Have you seen this? Do you care that he's lying to you?

So the job of someone in Congress is to “go along to get along”? We’ve had fifty years of that kind of pathetic thinking and our country is 20+ trillion in debt with a government that wants to control every facet of our lives. Senator Cruz’s biggest problem with the DC establishment is he decided to govern the same way he ran for office.
