HOUSTON, Texas -The Cruz for President campaign today announced a new TV ad, "New York Values", showing Donald Trump's assertion that New York “views” and “attitudes” are different than views and attitudes in Iowa. Trump explained New York Values in his own words and how they shaped his views on gay marriage and abortion. He then admits that if he were president he would not even ban partial-birth abortions.

The ad will run statewide in Iowa beginning January 26.

TV Ad: New York Values (Video)

"New York Values"
TV: 30

Trump: I mean, hey I lived in New York City and Manhattan all my life, so my views are a little bit different than if I lived in Iowa.

Voiceover: They are different, like on Abortion.

Russert: Would President Trump ban partial birth abortion?

Trump: Look, I am pro-choice in every respect.

Voiceover: What does Trump think about Iowa?

Trump: How stupid are the people of Iowa?

Voiceover: Donald Trump, New York values, not ours.

Trump: My views are a little bit different than if I lived in Iowa.

Cruz: I'm Ted Cruz and I approve this message.

So now Cruz is trying to “emulate” Little Yebbie! That dog won’t hunt.

I’m not even sure what the ad is trying to accomplish.

Trump says “Make America Great Again”.

Cruz says “Only some parts of the nation I will give a damn about”?

I believe Cruz waited too late to attack Trump. He was friendly when he should have been hitting. He gave Trump time to define himself. I could be wrong. We will know soon enough, but I feel Cruz should have started earlier.

Tactically, yes. Trump’s rise was him branding himself right out of the gate.

Republicans have never known how or when to fight. Take that back. They started losing when they were unable to get Bork on SCOTUS. Unprepared then through now. Will Trump teach them? I do not know.

What impressed me and energized me about Trump was when he got pushback on the Wall and illegals and he doubled down. Doing so hurts his business brand - calls for boycotts etc. At that point I realized Trump fights. If he fights then I fight for him.

That is a leader. A leader makes you want to fight for his cause.

Tomorrow’s debate should be interesting. I have a feeling that the Trump complaint about Megyn Kelly is a set up. She hates Cruz more than Trump.

” If he fights then I fight for him.
That is a leader. A leader makes you want to fight for his cause.”

Frankly, I find that statement a bit scary.

Fight for your country, okay.

Fight for an leader, no.

I haven’t seen it but I hope it includes going to a gay couple’s home for cash — oh wait that was “Formally Surging Ted” who did that ... never mind.

Yep, the New York Values dust up is going to be a HUGE net positive for Ted Cruz as the primaries move south and west!!!

Thanks.

No offense to Cruz fans but all his remarks remind me of lawyer talk. Trump's remarks are to the point broadsides loaded for bear.

Please.

Fight as in fight for a cause - we are not in a shooting war with Democrats for Pete's sake.

Trump is the king of soundbites, but that's about it. It's just snippets constantly repeated over and over again. My fear though is that at the end of day, I think Trump is still going to be a big government type.
