Regrouping
JANUARY 22, 2016 ~ CONSISTENTCONSERVATIVES
This is an emergency means for us to keep in touch with our FRiends, who are real Conservatives, in case of purging. Or, if there is no purging, do we really want to continue our discussions in the forum where the owner despises us for not supporting his non-Conservative candidate?
My purpose is to figure out what to do to continue our discussions to advance Conservatism.
Thank you.
Yep. My gut feeling from the beginning was that it was organized. Now I know it is.
I’m sorry. What a pain in the neck.
Thank you for that (it’s hard to keep my list up to date)!
Good grief, seems there are some who are unable to control their emotions and themselves.
Thanks so much for your support.
It’s just not acceptable! Ever!
As someone who is normally reads what you post, I have seen the vitriol towards you, and it disgusts me. Stay strong, and keep up the great posts!
At least she’s not running off. She stands up for her guy. And that’s fine. But she attacks as good as she gets it back. She is not exactly a good example of a victim.
These guys are crazy.
They accuse Trump supporters of joining a cult of personality, when it is they who have done so.
Purge indeed.
I've been around here for a while and I know folks get zapped for a reason, usually tearing down the last conservative standing or a lack of support for life issues.
But I've not seen a zap for arguing the merits of candidates in the primaries and I'm not aware of it happening.
Most are just butt-hurt because their guy is not doing well and they spit out so much vitriol that they're generally glad to be zapped so they can save face.
Happens every 4 years.
I’ve never gotten the impression that that Mr. Robinson was hostile to Cruz. I’ve never once questioned his commitment to conservatism.
I DO, though, understand the sentiment conveyed in the email with respect to Trump supporters. Clearly, those of us - like myself - who have believed that whatever disagreements we may have, FReepers agree on basic principles, have been mistaken.
We’ve witnessed many here become followers of a man who is quite clearly a liberal. Not a moderate, as, for example, Romney and McStain were. But an unambiguous liberal who supports nationalized health care, a wealth tax, huge tariffs, abortion (unless you believe his very-late-in-life conversion on the subject), bank bailouts, abuse of eminent domain.....a complete laundry list of items that are utterly anathema to constitutionalists and conservatives.
Now THIS alone wouldn’t be so frustrating. What IS difficult to accept is that these same individuals have the unmitigated gall to adopt Trump’s talking points and question the credentials of a man who has given conservatives every reason to believe he is one of us.
Cruz’s Canadian birth? Paperwork errors on loans for his senatorial campaign? His WIFE’S employer?
Let’s assume every argument against Cruz is valid - aside from the insipid birther stuff. Mark those on Cruz’s debit side - but look at his demonstrated record of fighting for our values, not beginning at age 65, but beginning as a teenager! Balance it against a history of contributing to, and lauding leftist politicians.
We all loved what Trump said about immigration. I cheered myself. Hell, at one point after Cruz, Trump was my choice. But then the sliming began. That’s difficult to accept when it’s against not a RINO like John McCain, Bob Dole or Mitt Romney, but against a many who has fought for us and earned battle scars on our behalf....a man who has become a compete pariah amongst the establishment because he wouldn’t play their game.
Speaking for myself only, I’m here because I believe in things. “Winning” with someone who doesn’t believe those things isn’t winning to me.
Hank
That is key. I haven't been around here as long as you but I'll admit I had my "feelings" hurt once or twice when I first signed up......until you realize it's only WORDS for crying out loud!
Did those words kill you? Did they mortally wound you?
Heck no.
Let's just have fun and debate the candidates without getting into vulgar shouting matches!
Oh, yeah, and you're wrong for supporting Trump. :-)
Keep fighting the good fight, Jim. This happens every cycle sadly with someone deciding FR is no longer a site for ‘real conservatives’ when they are dead wrong.
Go Trump Go!
So?
The issue I see is that there are people on both sides of the aisle that spew. The attacks can be vicious and tend to aim at other FReepers. Discussing the differences in the candidates is one thing, but to take the politics of the election and attack another FReeper is completely something else. This is completely uncalled for from either side.
The 4 worst that I have personally seen are below:
1) Trump supporters/endorsees are not conservatives
2) Trump supports are part of a cult
3) Trump is not a real Christian
4) Trump supports are not real Christians because of the views held by Trump at one-point in time
I know that there have been personal attacks against Cruz supports, but I don’t recall seeing anything worse than being called delusional, stupid, or a hypocrites. There maybe ones that are worse, if so I haven’t seen them.
Most of us are guilty at one point in time of letting emotions drive our posting. We need to refrain from doing so.
In the end, there are many Trump supporters who have no qualms with supporting Cruz if he wins the nomination. But there are also a few that are put off from Cruz due to these attacks.
We as FReepers should be able to respect the reasons other Freepers support their Candidates. There are only two viable options as a nominee, Trump or Cruz, with Trump being more of a riskier choice. And when it comes down to the General Election, we as FReepers need to stand behind the nominee whether it be Trump or Cruz.
Well, Hank, the man DID say that you were going to get sick of winning...
I support Cruz -— but IF Trump prevails I would dance around the room IF Trump appointed such a young strict constructionist Constitutional Conservative to the Supreme Count.
Like many here, I lurked for years before joining. I read and bookmark threads to come back to when time permits and although I don’t post much....it’s because I am cautious of every word I write now while defending my property against 6 lawsuits ....the last 7 years.
I love this forum....not going anywhere! Much thanks Jim!
Shameless behavior toward a truly great American, Jim Robinson.
I don’t want to quibble but have to disagree with one point in your post. Romney was not a moderate. He was to the left of Ted Kennedy while running for governor and bragged about it. Proved it by not fighting against gay marriage in his state and then again by pushing RomneyCare. And he lied like hell during his primary for president when he claimed to be conservative. And proved he lied by going on the warpath against conservatives soon after losing to Obama. Screw Romney.
