resident Obama's inspiring message of hope and change seven years ago is lacking in the "hope" part - especially when it comes to the issue of racial tension. If the latest Rasmussen Reports survey is any indication, it seems that when Obama stepped into office, race in America took about 10 steps back.
A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 50% of American Adults now think race relations in this country are getting worse, up from 44% a year ago and 30% as recently as January 2014. Only 20% believe race relations are getting better, a new low that compares to 38% five years ago. Twenty-six percent (26%) say race relations are staying about the same. (To see survey question wording, click here.)
In case you missed that little tidbit in the middle, only 20 percent of those polled think race relations are improving - a new low.
Baltimore, Ferguson and New York are just a few cities that bring to mind the unnerving images of violent looting and protesting in the aftermath of cop shootings involving the deaths of young African-American males. While Obama obviously isn't to blame for the broken doors and the bloodshed, he has not exactly helped to quell the hateful rhetoric nor the violence. At the International Association of Chiefs of Police in Chicago last year, he noted the heroism of police, yet also insisted there was racial bias in the system.
Our communities need healing. Citizens of any color should not be fearful when they see a uniformed officer on their street - and vice versa. Divisive rhetoric, the above poll proves, is not going to fix the strained relationship.
I never heard anything inspiring coming from 0bama’s teleprompter, just lies, and blather.
Anyone with half a brain would know that 0bama was a racial warrior, and that things would go from bad to worse with him in office.
Obama. Eric Holder. “Just like Trayvon.”
Donald Trump will fix it. At the heart of the matter is jobs and opportunity with safe communities.
Everybody wants that.
Obama is a traitor reprobate muslim commie mole twink.
Obama’s attempt to hand the keys of America to our enemies will become the #1 Headline of the 21st century.
Obama has given community organizer a bad name. Rather than building bridges, he has systematically destroyed the ones hard built in the past.
His legacy of hate and decisiveness should automatically disqualify him from being secretary of the UN. In these times, that may be a prerequisite.
He was always a Communist street agitator.
It isn’t race relations. It is uncivilized Africans versus all civilized races and it has nothing to do with skin color.
“Obamaâs attempt to hand the keys of America to our enemies will become the #1 Headline of the 21st century.”
Agreed, along with his theft of taxes and spreading his venomous hatred for white US citizens around the globe.
“Citizens of any color should not be fearful when they see a uniformed officer on their street - and vice versa”
By the same token, white people shouldn’t have to fear being assaulted in some manner every time a black person is in the general vicinity.
to make the heart sick.
I could not have said it any better.
very well said
I’m not even sure what “race relations” means nowadays. The federal government has mandated the end to discrimination in housing and in the work place, most people accept other races as equals, and white Caucasians are becoming the minority.
So that’s the problem? Well, except for the huge culture of dependency and laziness that the same government has encouraged and nurtured, and the political correctness that makes it impossible to even make a public comment involving race without checking with your lawyer first to see if you’ve crossed any new lines in the sand.
I think for 99% of America race is not an issue.
For those 1%, there will never be a resolution (from either side.)
The Ferguson fiasco started it for me and it was completed with the march in NYC and their dead cop” chants.
I am NOT the same person I was 2 years ago——and it saddens me.
.
As just another bitter clinger my opinion on the subject clearly means nothing.
I'm not the same person I was before the OJ trial verdict in 1995, when 50% of my co-workers stood up at their desks and cheered.
Wow,are *you* off the mark! About half of the country votes Rat and there is absolutely no doubt that the Rat Party is *all* about race and has been for the last 40+ years.
Its funny but until Obama and his minions showed up, I never thought about race.
