While on the scene at the Sundance Film Festival this weekend, Danny DeVito took a moment to comment on the tinderbox subject diversity in the entertainment industry, and the actor-producer didn't mince words at all. Bluntly attributing the lack of diversity in Hollywood and subsequently in awards-recognized films to systemic racism, he said that "it's unfortunate that the entire country is a racist country."

Years ago MAD magazine did a spoof on the movie THE PROFESSIONALS with Lee Marvin, in which Woodie Strode complains of being the Token Black in the movie, and they better not ask him to tap dance or anything!
Meanwhile everyone is laughing at the Robert Ryan character who complains “Don’t hurt the Horses!” One of the characters in the spoof busts a fly with the butt of his rifle and Ryan “DON’T HURT THE HORSES!”
The killer of the fly says.. “It was only a fly!”
Ryan yells It was a “HORSE FLY!”
Odd how much one can enjoy an actor as long as they confine their speech to the silver screen. But once they open their yappers without a cue card to reflect what is going on in the attic of their mind, they are thoroughly unappealing.I guess that is why I enjoy hearing from Louie the taxi cab dispatcher but not Danny Devito.
From they guy who has to stand on TWO soapboxes to say it.
Get Shorty!
Thank you Danny for clearing this all up.
Did the people nominated deserve to get nominated?
Was there someone black that deserves to get nominated that did not?
Tokenism and Patronization is also racist
“How many blacks are on his show?”
It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, let me see here...checking IMBd.com....and the number of ANY KIND of minority Actors would be NONE. But we all know Philadelphia is a lily white town way out in the suburbs.
Then again the butt ugly little munchkin did say HE WAS a racist.
Ahem! He's "vertically challenged".
There fixed it for that despicable little turd
We might be racist, but at least we are not midgets.
cranking out the token nominations just benefits mediocrity
Everyone who participates in the film industry MUST receive an Oscar..
Anything less is total racism.
Oscar Statues will be handed out like diplomas at a College graduations: A person's name is called out, they walk on stage and are handed an Oscar. Simple. Fair.
Hollywood Oscar Parties MUST be handled the same way with invitations going out to ALL members of the film community in a random fashion. That way NO ONE'S FEELINGS are hurt.
To show favoritism is racist, xenophobic, and anti-gay. It also insults transgeners and liberal elites who want to appear 'above it all' - - more liberal than thou types.
Oh Danny...if we are all a bunch of racists then nobody is racist.
Balderdash.......I AM becoming a heightist though the more the little fellow speaks.
Poor little Danny. Besides the character he did in Taxi, nothing else he ever did has amounting to anything. Maybe he too is just feeling “like a victim”. What does he want, Oscars allocated by race”?
I’m not Racist. I love The Indy 500.
This guy is high on my list of actors I once loved whom I will never voluntarily watch again.
