I was watching a very angry conservative on TV the other day attempt to paint Trump as Satan's blonde-headed younger brother.
They also tried to make out anyone who claimed to be a conservative, that would ever remotely even consider voting for The Donald, to be the dumbest SOB on the planet... the bane of humanity.
This person was angry, peeps. It was scary, shark-eyed, weirdness. They were sold on Trump being evil incarnate.
The weird thing was, if my memory serves me correctly, I don't remember this talking head getting that irate about Romney in 2012. Matter of fact, I believe they stumped arduously for Mitt going into the general election.
Y'all help me here: aside from the color of their coifs, please thrill me with what's the big difference between the twain other than Trump's way more aggressive against Islam, for more stringent border security and way more anti-Obama/Hillary than Mitt ever was. Also, Iâm pretty certain said person also tried to sell us on McCain and they were very pro-George W. Bush. Go figure. Anyway …
The disturbing thing to moi was the rage combined with the unwavering conviction that they were right on every issue and, if you disagree with them, I guarantee they'd spew more f-bombs in your face than Gary Oldman would if he ran out of espresso and cigarettes.
This made me reminisce back to a group that existed a few years ago who "knew" they were "right" on every issue.
This group was extremely conservative, pro-life, and pro-Ten Commandments. Regarding their religious practices …holy moly…they were extremely devout. So devout that they make me look like a lush with my penchant for my amazing cigar line, dirty martinis and warrior movies.
This crew tithed a tenth of every thing they made, fasted once week out of every month, and memorized the Bible. Indeed, these people hated evil and had a zero tolerance policy for any religious or political leader who showed one scintilla of compromise with their âworldviewâ. They were right, dammit. And God help you if you every drew their ire.
One man, who was also earnest and pretty conservative, but approached things way differently than they did, decided to take them on, and not only did they verbally blast him but they ended up killing him. The man they killed was named Jesus and the conservative group that had him offed was the first-century Pharisees. Yep, JC could not live up to their standards as a leader.
Speaking of standards for leaders, I wonder if those conservatives who're currently crapping on Trump, whoâre looking for the perfect leader, would back the following leaders that God did? Check it out…
-- King David shagged Bathsheba (another man's wife) and then had her husband offed. Would conservatives vote for him?
-- What about Moses? Moses killed a man, married a black woman, and had massive anger issues. Can you say "deal breaker" for most conservatives?
-- What if Samson were on the ticket? Samson dated a hooker, killed Cecil The Lion, and had long hair. Can you imagine the melee that would ensue should some candidate have this Nazarite's track record? OMG. Scandal aplenty for the fastidious among us. But…he was God's choice and his Judge to lead an ancient Israel for a time.
-- What about Abraham? This old patriarch constantly lied about being married to his wife. Not. Very. Presidential.
Then you have Jesus' fab twelve whom he chose to change the planet that were an amalgam of rough-cussing fishermen who resembled the crew of Deadliest Catch. And don't even get me started on John The Baptist, who ate bugs and wore a camel skin.
And the list could go on and on regarding the massive and weird incongruities of eccentric men who were utilized to shake and shape nations for righteous purposes.
Bottom line: good luck finding Mr., Ms., Miss or Mrs. Perfect when voting for president. And by your standards you might as well start practicing saying President Hillary Rodham Clinton.
One more thing: I will vote for either Trump or Cruz depending upon who gets the nod. Also, and pardon my redundancy, but don't forget the wizards at the National Review told us Romney & Ryan were groovy. How'd that work out for them?
The National Review issue that attacks Trump will only inspire his supporters. In fact, it may wind up being the final boost in Iowa that gives Donald the nomination.
National Review just handed Donald Trump the Election

National Review’s publication of the collective anti-Donald Trump missives from 22 self-appointed conservative potentates has caused quite a stir in Republican circles.
The nationwide responses range from, “Wait, I thought National Review went out of business years ago,” to “Ed Meese? Seriously?”
The Gang of 22 have officially become parodies of themselves. One would have to reach back to the days of Richard Nixon and Spiro Agnew to lift an adequate quote to describe them.
“Nattering nabobs of negativism,” “vicars of vacillation,” “pusillanimous pussyfooters,” “the decadent few,” “ideological eunuchs,” “the effete corps of impudent snobs,” or “the hopeless, hysterical hypochondriacs of history” - take your pick, because they all apply about equally well to each and every one of them.
So clueless is the Gang of 22 they can’t even see how they’ve stumbled right into the narrative Trump’s been communicating so successfully for months. Just like the elected officials from both parties, the Gang of 22 has been GREAT at complaining about stuff, year, after year, after year.
But getting anything accomplished? Not so much.
Many of the Gang of 22 have been hanging around and chattering for decades, and some are active cogs in the Conservative Entertainment Complex, deriving their income by pandering to conservative anger while offering no real solutions.
Donald Trump represents a threat to these ineffectual poohbahs in the same way he represents a threat to do-nothing public officials.
Jealousy is also seriously at work here. Trump is inspiring and exciting a broad spectrum of the country like no member of the Gang of 22 ever has, or ever will.
In just seven months of campaigning, Trump already has more Americans listening to a Republican message than the entire Gang of 22 could muster over decades.
Trump understands that before you can advance the ball, you have to convince people to take time from their busy lives to listen. No one on the GOP side since Ronald Reagan has accomplished that like Trump.
No one else has come close, and certainly no one from that “effete corps of impudent snobs” to which the National Review thinks we should defer.
The Gang of 22 had their chance. They’ve done a lot of bitching over the years, and it paid well for some.
But Americans care about results. They can plainly see that all of the empty talk from the Gang of 22 got us eight years of Barack Obama, and a loss in pretty much every conservative battle there was to lose.
At the same time when Americans look at Donald Trump’s life they get a lot of assurance that here is finally a man who shares their focus on actually getting results. And Trump returns the respect by recognizing regular hard-working Americans are a lot smarter than any of the “ideological eunuchs” in all of their pontificating glory.
The “pusillanimous pussyfooters” love to nitpick Trump’s words, but what voters are looking for this year is competence and accomplishment. Donald Trump has an actual record of delivering both in spades.
The Gang of 22 is right to be terrified. A President who could get things done would expose them as the irrelevant creatures they truly are.
It can’t happen fast enough.

May HIS name be blessed and sanctified.
I completely agree.
Rudy Giuliani was hated by liberals too, but he wasn't conservative enough. Now the same people tell us that Trump being hated by liberals is sufficient!
Trump has tapped into ethno-cultural identitarianism; nothing more, nothing less.
It's also his first principles that blow off the charge that he's a lib.
1. His stance on illegals and the wall.
2. His stance on bringing back a strong economy, a great America with financial strength.
3. Building a strong military and taking care of our vets.
4. Fighting the war against radical Islam to overwhelmingly win. We win, they lose.
5. His intent to stop any immigration from muzzie areas "until we figure it out".
Those stances are why he is winning, and will likely go all the way. Anyone disagreeing with those here ought to be ashamed.
Trump is exactly what we need. He’s American versus a narrow minded group of “conservative” people focused on a misplaced comma or period instead of reading the whole sentence.
I refuse to be lumped with “conservatives” any longer.
Whether Romney would be better as president is irrelevant. The Trumpkins say that NR is not conservative because they endorsed Romney in 2012, yet their Demigod did, something that his promise of wall has blinded them of this fact. That is point. Like they fact that a good deal of the Trump supporters wanted McConnell to lose to Grimes in 2014 yet they cannot explain that Trump gave money to McConnell.
Exactly!
BOL! Thanks Keep up the Trump Hate. It just makes us stronger!
In 2016, we need somebody who is likely to do something effective about immigration, and get the underclass of the Third World out of the US.
So, for the 2016 election, the ONLY thing I care about is immigration.
And he’s the one who had the guts to bring them up.
And I’ll BET
That we can go through threads since June and find every detractor giving him a high five at least once and probably a lot more than that
I’ve been an active conservative virtually all my life. A Hillsdale grad, knew Russell Kirk, an NJC person, knew M. Stanton Evans. Grew up in a house with parents who were involved (in a small way) in starting the Conservative Party. I spent many years in Young Americans for Freedom, served on the state board and on Platform Committee for 3 YAF conventions. I hve worked for a number of conservative organizations and written for conservative publications.
Don’t you dare challenge my conservatism, nor attempt to lecture me on conservatism.
I don’t believe you’d know conservatism if it introduced itself. Not if you think Trump, given his ideological wanderings, is a conservative.
The folks at National Review are dyed-in-the-wool conservatives who have been in the trenches, as most of us here have. Trump is an Establishment progressive who has changed his party registration 6 times and who has advocated liberal positions on almost every issue at fairly recent points.
you are correct
Donald Trump is not that guy. His immigration plan is merely touchback amnesty dressed up to look good.,
Abraham’s father was an idol worshiper. And then there was Paul.
blond? a little more orange than blond. maybe a mix

Exactly
Absolutely. He also took major heat for it, battled the media, coming out a winner, virtually unscathed.
The man's a fighter.
Look what he did to the Clinton camp's war on women with just a couple of comments. He embarrassed them, eviscerated their hypocrisy, and got the media to tell enough of the story to turn off major portions of the women's vote to her.
