Ailes is mad at Lowry because this move means, in the ongoing war between Fox News and Trump, Fox News has now "given up the moral high ground." Essentially, Ailes understands, that means his network looks like the unfair aggressor that Trump has accused it of being -rather than a neutral arbiter of the news - all while Trump continues soaring in the 2016 GOP primary polls.
But on Wednesday evening, Lowry appearing on Kelly's program compromised Fox's position in the war by veering down a vulgar path in his attack on Trump. Even Kelly, who also dislikes Trump, clearly was shocked at what Lowry said live on air, reacting "What did you just say? You can't say that!"
Fox has not officially announced that they have reprimanded Lowry, and there are no media reports of that at this time.

With all the big GOPe donor money flowing into channels to try to bring down Trump over the last few months, I wonder just how much the NRO Foundation coffers have swelled around this unprecedented attack on the biggest GOP primary frontrunner ever.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see a few million tossed in, which for them is massive.
THANK YOU!
I got sick to my almost death of Fox News, too!
Megyn Kelly’s horrid performance during that first debate did it for me. Her sorry show was the first I stopped watching and once I did that, the others were easy to drop, save for O’Reilly which I sill watch along with an occasional Hannity and Cavuto.
THAT’S IT.
IONTV and WGN play reruns of Blue Bloods and L&O whenever I want daytime - evening - late night TV distractions.
ROFLMAO!
Did she sleep her way to her own show on Fox?
“Dude, this was like four months ago!”
Same here. Seeing pictures of her on FR, I cannot help but think of a her as a stripper ready to do a pole dance.
>>>Like a salmon, fighting against the current, you will finally get there, achieve your goal and destination...then die.
Brilliantly-worded bullseye response. Best Post of the Day.
Fox News never had the moral high ground.
I think the guy on the right is Jack Dorsey, CEO of Twitter.
Lowry's an opinion-writer. Why would his opinion cause such an uproar -- vulgarly-expressed or not?
"Breitbart" has become loonier than "WND".
Well, she still has some time to catch up with Trump who has had 3 wives and cheats on them. That’s what we need in the presidency a man who cheats on his wives. Oh wait....
What does that make Trump, who cheats on his wives?
It matters today because it is part of the backstory as to why National Review, of which Lowry is the editor, would have attempted to commit editorial suicide last week. To read the issue, you'd think Trump was an axe murderer, and everyone who supports him is ritually unclean.
LOL!!
Conservative? Not since last summer:
Fox News Lurches Left as Murdoch's Sons Take Control of Media Dynasty
Or go over to OAN and PUMP... it UP!
Just one glance at that cover shows you everything that's wrong with NR's editorial vision. That graphic looks like a Boy Scout recruiting poster from the 1950s. Their version of "conservatism" is "things should be like they used to be!" instead of "we charge ahead confidently because knowing history is firm ground."
And I appreciate it! I was behind schedule with last night's Make America Great Again ping!
If so, they are both "fat pigs and slobs", as the saying goes; but I don't know and I don't care.
I do care, however, about the low level to which American "journalism" has sunk. They don't even pretend to be serious researchers or impartial conduits any more. It's a grave disrespect to the American people, especially as regards the importance of electing a government. But, wait, "We the People" -- that's so, like, 19th century...
Megyn Kelly Affair, Fox News's "Research Division" and The Loving The Party Problem
And yet, you guys don’t seem to have a problem supporting a serial adulterer. I stand amazed.
