Never heard of that law. I understand protecting a potential nominee for president, his protection detail has a vital responsibility. Is there really such a law?

Did the Secret Service agents have their prostitutes there somewhere?

I guess this is the time for Trump to retire from the race /s

Is it possible an assassin could show up with a stolen uniform and a gun? I can understand why he might be turned away.

It’s well past time for Trump to ditch his Secret Service “protection” and bring in members of the Patriotic Militia movement. He would be much, much safer if he did that.

DT will harm the US in so many ways. I do not understand the blind trust. There is absolutely nothing factual to base it on. But DT makes them “feel”.
When DT’s supreme court accelerates to lefties favor, when our rights are further stripped, when gun rights are being overturned it will be too late.

Whats to stop Assassins from putting on a police uniform to get up close with weapons? See history...

Please note, he could have stayed and retrieved the gun later.

It was not a cop issue, it was an uncleared armed person wearing a police uniform issue.

He didn't want to cause a scene...so he goes whimpering to the press?

Grow up or shut up. Or at least have brains enough to obtain clearance beforehand.

At the Trump rally in Raleigh, there were metal detectors at the door. Something seems a little off here. He would have been stopped at the door, not after taking seats.

Why would they let him in, only to tell him later he could not have his gun. If true, doesn’t sound like someone did their job correctly. Did he pretend to be part of the detail?

With all the nuts out there who have threatened Trump, seems like he would check this out before he brought in his gun. Not very bright. I think anyone with sense would ask the rules before trying to enter someplace that is protected by the Secret Service, private security, and the local police.

I would certainly trust Police Chief McDaniel before I would trust the “Secret Service”.

Something smells fishy about this.

“Chief Tim McDaniel was there with his family”

So he wasn’t on duty? What are the rules about just anyone bringing a weapon to an event like this. He could have complied and stayed for the event. He chose not to.

The SS has rules and the police chief should know them, or at least not be disappointed when asked to leave. SS did their job. How did he get to his seat wearing a weapon?

“They tell me its federal law and policy that a full time state certified Police officer cannot be in the audience of a presidential candidate making a speech.”

That guy is lying. There is no such law and Trumps security/SS are armed, so it is not just a lie, but a bad lie.

That is the purpose of the Secret Service. They were doing their job because they do not know if that person is who he looks like he is.

Another stupid nothingburger thread.

Seems odd but let’s don’t blame Trump for this. He likely had no clue.

I'd have asked exactly which law it was that required this. I suspect the SS was bluffing.

The SS has no sense of humor. When W was elected I was the Network Admin at a small rural hospital near Crawford that was designated as an alternate facility for emergencies. Our rep came back from a meeting and told me if they got alerted that anyone under SS protection was inbound I had to leave or be detained.

This was due to an incident in '94 where I was (wrongly) accused of threatening Clintoon.

I’m glad the Secret Service is acting with such caution. Trump and those who protect him cannot be too careful, considering who his opposition is.
