We get it. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.) is rattled. Heâs afraid of losing Iowa. He doesnât know how to deal with Donald Trump. But he sure isnât helping matters with embarrassing arguments. His latest: âRight now, the Washington establishment is abandoning [Sen.] Marco Rubio. They made the assessment that Marco canât win this race, and the Washington establishment is rushing over to support Donald Trump.â Thunk. Letâs consider the ways in which this is unhelpful.
First, after spending months genuflecting to Trump as a kindred spirit, how can Trump be a closet establishment figure? Maybe Cruz isnât a good judge of character. Maybe he was duped. In any event, it reminds us how cringe-worthy Cruzâs flattery of Trump was.
Second, no one cares. Voters are supposed to like Cruz more now because people he does not like (âthe establishmentâ) shift from one opponent to another? It defies logic.
Third, if the establishment is abandoning Rubio, maybe anti-establishment voters should like him more. Or something.
Fourth, it sounds desperate, in part because, no one thinks Trump is a Beltway insider. If anything, it makes Trump look powerful insofar as insiders have to come to him.

The are 9 reasons the author cites.
Yeah, I know it's Jennifer Rubin and WaPo.
Yeah. Moving on.
wouldnt it be nice if Jennifer Rubin and Chris Matthews would fall in love and elope (forever) to some atoll in the middle of the ocean, never to return to USA
Cruz hits must be effective for Trump’s establishment friends to want him to stop them.

WaPo. Enough said.
Which one gets to be the bride?
I think this is an organized response.
Surprisingly insightful piece from WaPo; whoda thunk it.
She looks just like a whole dead sea bass I saw at the market the other day.
This seems to be a recurring theme.
Awww...Morticia’s and Gomez’s little girl. All grown up!
This is the one where I have to wonder about Cruz's strategy. I don't think people are going to buy this one.
Sarah Palin dealt a lethal body slam to Ted CRuz....who was already incapacitated by his own self-neutering, performed at the last debate.
He’s lashing out, from the pain.
The sad thing is, she addresses things we’ve all been talking about here. I said some of that just today.
It’s one thing if a Leftist comes at you with Leftist tripe, but if they come at you with something Conservatives are saying, you might want to sit up and at least listen.
You can’t correct your problems, if you won’t even face them.
And here on this forum, the Cruz folks won’t even entertain the idea they may need some face-time with Ted’s shortcomings.
Face them. Deal with them. We’ve been urging this for seven months now in various ways, and everything is either a “non-event”, or simply something someone who can’t be a Conservative has said, if they can’t genuflect to Ted.
That may very well have cost Ted the White House.
I have to admit that after six months of the GOP-E calling Trump racist, xenophobic, and nativist, and bashing him as crude, crass, and a lot, and threatening to go third party (something George Will did as recently as YESTERDAY) if he wins the nomination, Ted Cruz’s new tactic of claiming that Trump is “the establishment favourite” is just a liiiiiitle unbelievable.
ha ha! great question...
but...
“...what the Hell difference does it make, anyway?” (Hillary R. Clinton)
I pictured something else when I see her name... I am shocked
