Real-estate mogul Donald Trump got some great news Thursday afternoon in the form of a new CNN/ORC poll showing him pulling ahead in Iowa.
That survey showed him leading his top rival, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), 37% to 26%, among likely Iowa caucus-goers.
But the CNN poll was apparently too recent for Trump to tout at a Thursday rally in Las Vegas, Nevada. Instead, Trump boasted about his results in another recent Iowa poll, from Emerson College, that found him beating Cruz 33% to 23%.

I hope not, Sam!
I hope not, Sam!
Do you really care if Mitch, Pelosi and Shumer can work with Cruz?
My guy did not support Shumer and Rotten. Victory lap for progressivism, and a shredding of the Constitution. Congrats!!!!!
That's a GREAT way of putting that!! I think I'll steal it! Or at least borrow it!
Feel free. I stole it from someone else.
All this Trump love/Cruz hate has me wondering what this forum would have looked like in 1980.
It’s truly surreal to me how any purportedly conservative forum could be so excited about a candidate whose marginal conservatism is even more dubiously marginal than Dubya’s ever was and we haven’t even gotten through the Iowa caucus.
It’s weird, I tell ya.
The depth of hatred Trump engenders from the open borders crowd is proof enough for me.
From +13 to +11 is within the margin of error.
“Do you really care if Mitch, Pelosi and Shumer can work with Cruz?”
Only if they stay in office.
A president can only do so much by decree.
Reagan made deals. It is what politics is.
Ryan made a budget deal. He sucked at it.
I believe Trump would make better deals than Cruz. I’ve not seen a Cruz deal yet. There have been hundreds if not thousands of Trump deals made with people in many culture and political parties.
2 polls that came out today are bumped from the front page. One has Cruz up by 2, its no longer on front page, and the one that has Trump up by 1 that also only came out today are both bumped so FR can only show the best for Trump???
Whats that about
Simple question and you won’t touch it. I guess you weren’t really looking for anything challenging.
The Rafael Eduardo Cruz CFR connected crowd are making their rounds on Fox and others screaming about principled conservatism and its virtues. Have the Nat. Review crowd screaming and squirming about Trump, too. Trump’s got âem by the cojones and is close to closing this thing out. Kitchen table folks don’t give a hoot about non effective conservative principles. Trump will run the table.
Why don’t you just ask if I’ve stopped beating my wife?
Go and commit a singular vice to the point of expiration, o feminine hygiene product.
Trump will take Iowa after that it will be a sweep all the way to WH.
I'm glad the internet wasn't around in 1980.
A bunch of useful idiots on this board would have been nitpicking Reagan's record as California governor to death and posting stuff like "Senile ol' RINO Ronnie passed one of the MOST LIBERAL abortion laws in the country and now he says he's the 'true conservative' in the race??!?!? HAHAHAHA!!!"
They'd also constantly dredge up the fact that Reagan named liberal Republican Richard Schweiker as a running mate in 1976, and that he endorsed Gerald Ford in the general election, as "proof" that Reagan has "sold out to the GOPE!!!" and anyone who supports Reagan "is helping the GOPE!!"
Numerous threads would be started pointed out that "Reagan had his chance to be President in both '68 AND '76 and he blew it" and "the man had two terms as Governor is pushing 70 years old and he wants MORE time in office? How many terms does RINO Ronnie think he is entitled to?! Jimmy Carter is a professional politician too. How's that workin' out for us?"
They'd quickly throw him overboard in favor of Ben Fernandez, a self-made millionaire private sector businessman with no record in office who told them what they wanted to hear. In spite of the fact that Fernandez's parents were illegal aliens, they'd insist Fernandez "is the only candidate who takes border security seriously". They'd empathize the fact that "Fernandez created thousands of jobs in the private sector while Ronnie sat behind a government desk". Anyone who cited Fernandez's less-than-conservative positions in the past would be met with sneers and arguments that "People change. Obviously, Ben grew up and has now embraced constitutional conservatism. Ben loves America and that's good enough for me"
No it's not. We're not lefties and Trump isn't Obama. Btw, with all the destruction "Hope and Change" has wrought it has to be considered a smashing success in the eyes of the enemy. Let's work to Make America Great again in our eyes.
You say “everyone” knows something.
I’m looking outside FR, and what “everyone” knows is that Cruz was slamming all New Yorkers.
Did you not read my whole post? I’m saying that no matter what Cruz meant in reality, the perception is that he was being nasty to people.
