Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump says rival Ted Cruz is worried the election is slipping away from him.
"He's very concerned because his poll numbers are going down and he looks very, very nervous," Trump told CNN's Don Lemon on Wednesday evening.
The business mogul questioned whether Cruz would be able to perform as president after angering so many of his congressional colleagues.
"Everybody dislikes him. I mean, he's a nasty guy that everybody dislikes," Trump said.
"You're going to have to make deals, you're going to have to get these senators and congressmen and all of these people, you have to cajole them. ... You gotta make deals. We can't always sign executive orders, you can't do it. That wasn't the way our founders set up this country."
At times during the interview, Trump became worked up, raising his voice as he reiterated his attacks on Cruz's eligibility to become president.
"He was born in Canada and he was a citizen of Canada until 15 months ago, and he says he didn't know that," he said.
"He's got a very big problem because he was born in Canada," and there are experts who think that disqualifies him, Trump added.
"This is a huge problem. So how can the Republicans pick somebody with a very substantial chance that he's not allowed to run for president?"

This is the sort of campaign one wages when one REALLY wants to win. Trump is trying to close the deal.
I like that.
Republicans in Washington haven’t wanted to win anything in a long time
Safe to say a Trump/Cruz ticket is out at this point.
They aren’t playing nice anymore.
“You’re going to have to make deals, you’re going to have to get these senators and congressmen and all of these people, you have to cajole them. ... You gotta make deals. We can’t always sign executive orders, you can’t do it. That wasn’t the way our founders set up this country.”
Sell out alert. No wonder he’s making McConnell out to be the victim. You get what you pay for.....or here, what Trump has paid for.
I’m still hopeful. It’s just a couple of weeks of bad blood at nut cutting time. Time heals all wounds?
“Everybody dislikes him. I mean, he’s a nasty guy that everybody dislikes,” Trump said.
Ironic, considering Trump’s unfavorables are MUCH higher than Cruz’s unfavorables.
A breadth of polls shows that Cruz’s likability is MUCH higher than Trump’s likability.
Likability matters in the general election.
I submit for your viewing, as a concurrence of my IMHO:

Nope, doesn’t heal when it involves serious character flaws
Trump is WRONG! Cruz never had it to slip away in the 1st place:-)
The slimiest liar and most low info candidate to ever run. And you all trust him.
Sad times for our country.
You are right. But is it worth pissing off 10,000,000 conservatives to run the table?
“You’re going to have to make deals, you’re going to have to get these senators and congressmen and all of these people, you have to cajole them. ... You gotta make deals. We can’t always sign executive orders, you can’t do it. That wasn’t the way our founders set up this country.”
First, I am sure all of those in Congress love to hear that they have to be “cajoled”, yeah, like that’s really going to happen.
I don’t want a President who makes “deals”. I want one that will stop pork barrel runaway spending by veto, and will have the constitution as their guide when bills come across their desk.
I am in favor of gridlock.
The only bills I’d like Congress should pass are bills that repeal the damage they have already done in the past.
Lord, don’t give us more of the same, please.
No one likes Cruz? Well, I like him. I like Trump, too...but don’t think he will win Iowa. I also don’t think that is a big deal. Iowa is forgotten quickly.
We’re all nervous. The thought of a Trump presidency makes most rational minds nervous.
What if the RNC stripped Cruz of his delegates at the convention by not certifying eligibility? Trump’s going for first ballot.
