A painting hangs in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York called The Adoration of the Christ Child. Created in the 16th century by a Flemish artist, what stands out in this sublime presentation of the Nativity is the detail of the characters standing around the crib. Two of them, an angel and a shepherd, appear to have Downâs Syndrome. This suggests that the condition has been around for a very long time, and it helps illuminate the early modern approach to disability. Religious art normally conformed to classical standards of beauty. By implication, the artist regarded people with Downâs as angelic. As, indeed, they are.

And with this in mind, perhaps someone can explain to me why western civilization is worthy of survival? Whether it’s Muslims invading Europe or illegals in the United States makes no difference. Western Civilization has made its choice and there is nothing Trump or Cruz can do to change that. As for the rest, it’s nothing more than the politics of saving one’s own a$$.
What profession performs euthanasia?
What profession practices eugenics?
Yet you listen to them and obey them when they want to radiate you or pump deadly poisons into you?
I rarely see kids with Downs anymore... When I was a kid, I saw kids with Downs on a regular basis. I understand the health issues with the kids, but the world is a poorer place.
Yeah, I mean it's not like chemo and radiation therapy have forced anyone's cancer into remission.
Oh... wait.
Come to think of it, I rarely see kids with Downs either...I can’t remember the last time I did.
Atheistic rationalism and materialism now rule our society. People have come to believe that it is the technocrat who is superior to the philosopher or the theologian. It naturally follows that this society cannot countenance the flourishing of useless eaters in their meat sacks whose contribution to the new order is less than optimal.
It’s ultimately why I will not vote for Trump even if he is the nominee. He said it all when he said that his reversal on abortion is based on his appraisal of an individual’s contribution:
“Friends of mine years ago were going to have a child, and it was going to be aborted. And it wasn’t aborted. And that child today is a total superstar, a great, great child. And I saw that. And I saw other instances,” ~ Trump
Downs Syndrome people will never face “extinction” for it is a gene abnormality that occurs with non Downs parents.
They will be slaughtered, that is not extinction of a trait, it is the killing to make them not exist. Downs has persisted throughout history and were not, until recently, able to reproduce.
Gobbledy-gook
They have a blood test now that has can predict Downs very early in pregnancy..had my test at 11 weeks.
They say it’s 99% effective in predicting the gene. Used to be only amniocentesis could predict but that was way later in pregnancy & comes with miscarriage risks. I bet a lot of women said no to the Amnio.
There is so much help for them today than there was 4 decades ago. Stem Cell being one. Most Down’s are born to older first time mothers.
Have your tissues ready as this one is a very sad story. Joey Feek the female singer or Joey+Rory Feek. Has a 22 month old Down’s daughter. Who she may not live to see turn 2. Joey developed cervical cancer after Indiana’s birth, had surgery, chemo, radiation, cancer returned as a 9 MM Sigmoid Tumor, more surgery, more treatments, when they did a CT before totally clearing her, they found the cancer had returned. She is now doing Hospice at her family’s home in Indian. The Christian couple live on a big farm in Pottsville, TN where they did concerts in addition to TV and other concerts. She is in God’s hands now as only He can heal her.
Indy is a beautiful happy baby and you can tell the love that has been put into seeing she gets the best of care both medical and family. Explore the photo links Rory has done.

My mother had colon cancer, and was at Stage IIIB when she was diagnosed. Without any treatment, she’d almost certainly have been dead within a year. Instead, she made the rational choice of listening to her Oncologist. The doctor removed the tumor, and followed with chemotherapy for about 9 months. 2 1/2 years later, she is alive and well with no sign in her blood or via colonoscopy that it has returned. She has some mild neuropathy in the soles of her feet, but that beats the ever-living crap out of being buried in a box.
Most doctors do the right thing, at least insofar as “the right thing” is deemed the correct treatment at that point in time. The docs that do abortions, etc. are not in that category - and you need to learn to differentiate between the two, because if you don’t you are just an ignorant fool.
I had a Down Syndrome baby over 40 yrs. ago - before all
the “tests” to insure “perfection”. He had blockages in his
digestive system and died after surgery at 6 weeks in the
recovery room. I had no hereditary reason to my knowledge
that should have caused it. I *was* run down from having
had a late term miscarriage the year before.
Husband stuck by me through that, but tried to throw me
on the trash heap for a gold-digger girlfriend later when
our son (genius IQ) was just 8 yrs. old. The gold-digger
ditched him in favor of trying to snag the president of the
company away from his wife & family. I don’t know if she had
any luck. Relevant parties are all pretty much dead by now.
Husband “stayed” with me, but reminded me of just how
FABULOUS he was until now, after 51 yrs. he can go pound
sand. (I offered him a divorce on more than one occasion
after that; but I reckon he liked my home cooking more than
he did her cold t.v. dinners and “ripe melon” breasts. I’m
to the place where he can just kiss my grits! I’m old and
tired of his crap, as well as his brother’s & German SIL’s
crap. Only reason I asked him to stick with me when the
boy was 8 yrs. old was that I did not feel really well
enough to raise a child by myself at that time.)
bull shit. You are lying thru your teeth, I don’t believe you even for one minute. you are a monsanto/ dupont shill.
A Legal Right found in the "Emanations and Penumbras" of the Constitution by a Man in Black where no other man had ever been able to find it before.
It’s Down Syndrome, not Downs...
Supposedly there are less than 200,000 little people living in the US today. I’ve seen places claim the abortion rate for a positive genetic marker is around 90%.

I think that is a British spelling. The British NHS uses the word Down’s.
You are an asswipe.
1) My mother had Stage IIIB colorectal cancer, diagnosed in November of 2012. FYI, this involved a spread of the cancer to several lymph nodes.
2) She had surgery to remove the tumorous area of her colon the next month (NOT, I will add, the lymph nodes that had cancer), and after about 2 weeks of recovery time, started on chemotherapy.
3) She finished her chemo in July of 2013. So, excuse me, she only had it for about 7 months, not 9.
4) She’s alive and well right now.
5) She has gone for repeated blood tests and colonoscopies since she stopped her chemo, and there is NO indication that she has ANY cancer in her body.
6) I don’t work for Monsanto, DuPont or any company connected with the medical industry, nor does anyone I know, and I own not stock in any of those companies. I have no axe to grind (unlike you), I’m just reporting facts.
I repeat, you are an asswipe.
He made it to 69 years....extremely rare longevity for that condition.
There is a DS man who lives in our neighborhood and works at the local grocery store. He has worked there for decades. The last time I asked about his age, I think he was in his mid-40's. When I think about it, he really is the only Down Syndrome person that I ever see around our town.
