GLENN FREY EAGLES GUITARIST DEAD AT 67
TMZ ^ | 1/17/2016

Posted on 01/18/2016 2:01:14 PM PST by Borges

Glenn Frey, a founding member and guitarist of the Eagles, has died ... TMZ has learned. Frey had been battling intestinal issues for months and had surgery in November. We're told in the last few days his condition took a turn for the worse. Glenn co-wrote and sang most of the Eagles hits, including "Take It Easy," "Tequila Sunrise," "Lyin' Eyes," and "Heartache Tonight," to name a few. He also co-wrote "Hotel California" and "Desperado" with Don Henley and took home 6 Grammys with the band. After the Eagles' 1980 breakup, Glenn launched a successful solo career, recording numerous hits ... most notably "The Heat Is On" and "You Belong to the City." Glenn also got into acting, snagging a recurring role on "Miami Vice." He reunited with the Eagles in '94 for their monster Hell Freezes Over tour and recorded music till the end, releasing what would be his fifth and final solo LP, "After Hours," in 2012. The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer had been fighting intestinal issues for awhile but his condition relapsed before the holidays, forcing the Eagles to pull out of their Kennedy Center Honors appearance in December. At the time, the band said he needed major surgery that would require a lengthy recovery, but it appears he was never able to bounce back. Glenn was 67. RIP.

It looks like this month alone is going to tie or break the record of 1977 for celebrity deaths.

Why?

Play ‘em or sell ‘em.

You could buy a nice plat-formed fishing rig, or a couple of great small cc bikes.

Actually, in the 70’s the tape formulation was changed to an “improved” formula. This new formulation simply could not withstand time and now require baking for new masterings.

Ironically, the tapes used in the 50’s and 60’s remain well preserved - assuming proper care has been implemented.

My remastering engineer friend has remastered albums from Nat King Cole, Sinatra, Peggy Lee, Beach Boys, Beatles solo albums, all the classic jazz albums from the 50’s & 60’s without needing to bake the tapes.

You could make the case that due to television and the media, there were a lot more celebrities in the 70s, than we had previously, so it stands to reason that yes, there will be a lot more celebrity deaths in the future.

Most amazing is that only one Rolling Stone has died, and that was back in 1969.

That is an amazing fact.

Ok. I do have a bone to pick with Miami Vice.

The University of Florida NEVER had a live gator as a mascot. I justed wanted to clear that up.

RIP Glenn.

For those who haven't seen it yet, I highly recommend the Eagles documentary on Netflix (History of the Eagles). It's about 3 hours in total length, but is broken into 2 parts to where it is actually 2 distinct documentaries (pre-1980 & post). Very well done and worth a watch.

Ulcerative colitis is devastating and the “cure” is getting a colostomy...but nowadays people try anti-inflammatory drugs like Remicaid ...however, the danger with those kinds of drugs is that your immune system is shot and opens you up for all kinds of diseases that normally you wouldn’t’ get....and eventually, kills you.
