Glenn Frey, a founding member and guitarist of the Eagles, has died ... TMZ has learned. Frey had been battling intestinal issues for months and had surgery in November. We're told in the last few days his condition took a turn for the worse. Glenn co-wrote and sang most of the Eagles hits, including "Take It Easy," "Tequila Sunrise," "Lyin' Eyes," and "Heartache Tonight," to name a few. He also co-wrote "Hotel California" and "Desperado" with Don Henley and took home 6 Grammys with the band. After the Eagles' 1980 breakup, Glenn launched a successful solo career, recording numerous hits ... most notably "The Heat Is On" and "You Belong to the City." Glenn also got into acting, snagging a recurring role on "Miami Vice." He reunited with the Eagles in '94 for their monster Hell Freezes Over tour and recorded music till the end, releasing what would be his fifth and final solo LP, "After Hours," in 2012. The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer had been fighting intestinal issues for awhile but his condition relapsed before the holidays, forcing the Eagles to pull out of their Kennedy Center Honors appearance in December. At the time, the band said he needed major surgery that would require a lengthy recovery, but it appears he was never able to bounce back. Glenn was 67. RIP.
Wow, I’m stunned and sorry. RIP and thank you for all that wonderful music.
What about ‘Paradise’ - that was an anti-capitalist rant too, as I recall.
The tapes would have been baked to stop shedding due to their age. This has nothing to do with the performance of the tape when originally recorded
Sounds like a very impaired immune system, body wracked with inflammation. Sad.
Linda is still very much alive, for now - although she is battling Parkinson’s .... She can no longer sing b/c of the disease.
Well the Eagles were the direct descendants musically of Gram Parsons.
I know, sucks but we have to realize our own mortality.
I was watching “Genesis : The Sum of the Parts” documentary, and thought how all of the Genesis members were still with us. But Phil, didn’t look really that good for a guy in his early 60s.
Hotel California is clearly written about the Beverly Hills Hotel.
I still have my LPs and 8 tracks...
no!!!!!!!!!!!!!
... warm smell of colitis, rising up through the air..
Worst Post of the Day?
yes it was a breath of fresh air when the Eagles started....sort of country, but not...All American I would say...something you can listen to and sing along with....
Hey, even I didn't go there, that says something.
I am speechless with grief
Well they were basically a carbon copy of Gram Parsons and The Flying Burrito Brothers (which IIRC Bernie Leadon was a member)
And I should have bought tickets to them reopening the Forum in Inglewood last year. They played several nights. Damn.
Yep. That’s a name I haven’t thought of in a while, though.
Buck Owens’ influence on music cannot be understated.
The Beatles, didn’t Ringo sing Yellow Submarine?
