"If you want a friend in Washington, get a dog." That's how Harry Truman downplayed the importance of friendships in politics. But at a certain point, do poor personal relations impede a president's ability to get things done?
On today's Morning Joe, after rolling a clip in which Donald Trump called Ted Cruz a disliked and "very nasty guy" who can't make deals, a discussion ensued as to whether Cruz's personality would be an impediment to his effectiveness as president. Joe Scarborough was particularly harsh in his assessement, saying "it's one thing being an outsider; it's another thing being a pariah."

Haha! Um, hello, Joe? Being an outcast of either party in D.C. these days is a good thing, Joe.
How do you advance your issue when you hold a Senate hearing (like Cruz did on Global Warming) and nobody shows up because they don’t like you? That’s not how you win. Cruz’s selfish and endless beltway theater campaigning for POTUS has alienated him from the entire Senate. Every. Single. Senator. That’s not how you build coalitions and win political battles.
I usually to not argue with the deranged, but I will point out that Ted Cruz cheer leaded Fast Track Authority on trade for Zero. TPA was what Goldman Sacks (GS) wanted and Ted Cruz made sure that GS got it.
Ted Cruz 16: Golden Sacks values.
Morning Joe said that Ted Cruz could not get a single senator go alone with him on calling for a floor vote. If that is true then Cruz has royally pissed of every senator in the US Senate. Even Mike Lee.
I think the “very nasty guy” remark pushed me back to Cruz. Anyone who has seen Cruz and his kids knows he isn’t nasty. Trump in the mirror.
Cruz 16: Golden Sachs values, eh.
Heidi is in hiding. Not a word from her since the Cruzman Sachs stories broke. LOL.

Exactly. How is Cruz going to build a coalition to save babies from PP butchery when everybody hates him? Not going to happen.
“eh” is is what a Cannuk puts at the end of every sentence correct?
And the conservative position was to vote to cut the crop insurance subsidy, which makes Cruz's flip that much more interesting.

“Trumpanzees.” “Trump leftists.” You suck at winning people over to your side.
Ted Cruz = Dead Man Walking.
Maybe, maybe not but I sure don’t get the personal attacks on supporters of either Trump or Cruz. I think most conservatives like them both and would vote for either one.
not my job, not my intent. My intention is to use the truth to embarrass the idiots.
rich, a trumpanzee complaining of insults. Really really rich. Does the irony escape you?
of course it does
Cruz doesn’t want to “make deals,” Joey. He wants to stand on principle. There’s a difference.
Also - even if he *wanted* to make deals, it’s pretty hard when your lying Republican leadership stands in your way the whole time.
Can you believe Donald Trump swindled all those people with that Trump University scam?
Cruz is not a Conservative. He is a Conservative Imposter. Conservatives don’t take and conceal loans from Goldman Sachs and Citibank. He is a Wall Street and Trial Lawyer Puppet.

Irony? BTW, shove it.
‘To be fair to Ted, no one likes Obama. Democrats even admit it. Still, BO gets things done.’
Two points. First, not even Dems like Obama, but they love his agenda. I.e.: he’s not in opposition to one thing the Reid/Pelosi wing of his party is pushing; he’s with them and they’re with him.
Second, the whole pen and a phone routine was Obama’s way of dealing with his isolation and unpopularity. He merely governs via a bazillion EOs.
