Rafael only gave up his Canadian citizenship once he decided to run for president. He is also eligible for Cuban citizenship via his Cuban (illegal alien) father. As such his true beliefs on immigration will be a disaster for the USA.
Just what we need, another “fundamental transformation” of the US.

ummm. there’s a wonderful invention called Adblocker you can attach to your browser that’s been around for close for a decade..just sayin’
Those guys opinions mean no more than mine or yours. It can’t be settled other than in court. I was pretty sure that Cruz was eligible, but I’m becoming less so as I hear more about it. But anyone who claims certainty either way is lying, if only to themselves.
My brother was born in Istanbul. My parents were born in the USA as were their great grandparents. My father was stationed in Istanbul as a US NAVY adviser to the Turkish Naval Academy. It was the commonly accepted wisdom then that my brother was not eligible to be president. Nobody thought differently. That opinion did not change until the questions about the current president’s birth came up and the Congress made a big noise about declaring McCain to be eligible by Resolution in order to quell the noise about Hussein and his questionable origins. We are rapidly making the transition to the point that anyone on earth is eligible to be the US President if he lives in the USA for a few years before being elected. Even that stricture is sure to fall.
Mark Levin studiously avoids the term Natural Born Citizen and spends a lot of energy proving that Cruz is a Citizen therefore he is eligible. That is the first time I have ever heard Levin sounding weaselly and has disconcerted me to no end. There was a very skillful argument made by an FR poster yesterday that did not convince me because it did not refer to original intent as expressed outside of the Constitution itself that Levin could have made and, with his expertise on things Constitutional, might well have pointed out things I have not known but he did not do that. Instead he erected a straw man which he destroyed. It will be hard to listen to Levin uncritically again.
Trump has started to evoke some reservations in my mind also. I still believe he is the only one who would be able to do the things necessary to reclaim the Republic. I never gave him more than an even chance that he would actually do these things but a good possibility is better than a bad inevitibility. He is rapidly reducing what I see are the odds he would do the right thing. The way I have put it is that the Republic needs someone with Napoleanic abilities and force of character to do what must be done but that in voting for Napoleon we just might get Napoleon. I believe the chances of this possible Napoleon being Napoleon are rising rapidly. I also believe the cliff edge we are all trying to avoid was passed in 2008 and the parachute failed to open in 2012.
Free republic has become nearly as bad.
Its what always happens in an echo chamber.
So, what you are saying is every soldier who’s been overseas and had a baby on that base, that baby is not a citizen? Or a tourist who’s pregnant and goes into labor in say, Italy, comes home with a non citizen child? Or an ambassador to a foreign country or an employee sent to a foreign country for a few years. Their children are not citizens?
Give me a break.
Mark Levin, Sean Hannity, and Rush Limbaugh, who aren’t Supreme Court Justices, can’t settle the question of Ted Cruz’s eligibility. They can provide their opinions, with Levin’s holding more weight on the topic as he is a Constitutional scholar. But again, their opinions do not in anyway settle this issue.
“Some folks have that tin foil birther cap nailed to their pointy heads.”
Anyone who thinks a Canadian citizen, past or present, is eligible to become President of the United States has to have a screw loose and failed their civics lessons. Ted Cruz is a naturalized at birth U.S. citizen, which disqualifies from being a natural born citizen as required by the Constitution. If you want to claim otherwise, then you can begin by explaining how he can be a natural born citizen in 2016 when he was not remotely eligible to become a U.S. citizen at birth in 1916.
All the news sites are starting to do this. But all theyre doing is digging their own graves like LGF did. One of the best things about online news articles is the comments. When I used to read the newspaper, thats the first thing I would read.
There is no such thing as Naturalized At Birth. You are either natural born or naturalized later in life.
Statutory US law defines citizenship not your personal opinions.
It’s been posted here ad infinitum.
You think you have a special insight to grace us all with?
Thank you.

Yes, and it also appears the great Constitutional lawyer, Cruz, conveniently changed his definition of “natural born citizen.” Just asking why old recordings of Trump are fair game but not those of Cruz?

Great statement. I couldn’t agree more.
A citizen yes, but maybe not a Natural Born citizen.
Nobody is saying that he's not a citizen. The question is whether he fits the definition of a "natural born citizen", and if being born a citizen is always the same thing. And I'm not saying either side is right, only that there are arguments on both sides, and it hasn't ever been defined by a court. That is a fact. How a court may rule is anyone's guess.
BTW, children of foreign diplomats are explicitly exempted from being citizens in that clause of the constitution. So clearly they didn't consider them as being "subject to the jurisdiction" of the US.
