Mark Levin declares war on Donald Trump? Has The Great One had enough of The Donald?
American Thinker ^ | 01/14/2016 | Ed Straker

Mark Levin has been trying to stay out of the conflict between Donald Trump and Ted Cruz.  He says he likes both men and has both on his show.  But as Trump has escalated his birther attacks on Cruz, Levin has spent hours of airtime defending Cruz against these arguments...while studiously not mentioning who is making these arguments.

Well, it looks as though Levin has finally had enough, because ConservativeReview.com, of which he is editor in chief, has published a piece (that Levin has tweeted a link to) that exposes Donald Trump's political inconsistencies, point by point.

Entitled Trump's Questionable Political History, the article talks about how Trump met with illegal alien activists in 2013 and said he was "convinced" to support amnesty.  The article also quotes Trump saying he wanted to "expedite" the return of illegal aliens into the country and notes a quote that Trump simply had no opinion either way on the "Gang of 8" amnesty bill that Marco Rubio is being so criticized for.

The article also cites how on September 8 of last year, Trump was for bringing in Syrian refugees, but he changed his mind on the 9th.

Here's what author Daniel Horowitz also wrote:

Conservatives need to know if Donald Trump is really the man who will put Americans first and demolish the "dummies" in Washington or if his lack of a coherent philosophy will lead him to reflexively parrot the very politically correct talking points he so vehemently assails and yet has so often adopted.  Is Trump who we think he is on immigration or is he pragmatically trying to tap into a frustration to win the primary with a plan to revert to his original talking points

Fact is, if it were not for Trump, NO ONE, and I mean NO ONE, including the media, Hannity, Levin or Rush would be talking about immigration or trade fiasco’s like TPA/TPP.

Of the viable candidates Cruz has the best conservative record on immigration. Only Santorum is better. Trump has a similar rating, but since he's not a politician it's based on talk not votes.

I stopped listening to Levin a couple of years ago. When the NBC questions were aimed at Obama, Levin acknowledged he didn’t really know nor had he researched deeply the topic, but he was against anyone being questioned on their NBC status.

Levin warned his listeners and his Facebook and other online followers not to dare raise the topic or they’d be cut off. In other words, he didn’t want to engage in a topic he had a strong opinion on, but minimal knowledge. Somehow I just couldn’t respect that.

Also, I was irritated by his endless bragging about being part of the Reagan Administration, promoting his books, his father’s book, his daughter’s singing, his dogs, etc., etc. AND his promoting Hillsdale College for your kids and/or mine, but sending his kids elsewhere. In toto, just not worth listening to.

I fail to see how his changing his mind on an issue that is VAGUE and UNCERTAIN and is argued by strict constitutionalists of every stripe will, therefore make us conclude that he won’t appoint an originalist to the courts if he were to be President.

Cruz didn't change his mind. Tribe is saying that as an avowed constitutional originalist, his logic that natural born citizenship is settled law and that he is a natural born citizen does not comport with the logic of an originalist Justice who would find him ineligible.

The point is — the INTENT is NOT clear. Unless we have a time machine tog o back to ask the framers what they meant, it always will be.

If you really want to get into the weeds on intent and the history of natural born citizenship, read this

However, this I am certain of — Cruz will appoint justices of the caliber of Thomas and Scalia. Will Trump do so? Well he’s all over the place on this one. At times, he tells us that he admires Justice Thomas, on the other hand he calls his sister ( a Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit ) a great judge.

I have no doubt Cruz would appoint more conservative judges (although he was wrong about Roberts) than Trump. The problem is that you have to get elected to appoint them. Cruz will lose in the general election. He is unable to connect with the average voter like Trump or to go across party lines.

RE: If you really want to get into the weeds on intent and the history of natural born citizenship, read this

Thanks for the link, but then here is another argument FOR Ted Cruz, which also goes to the Originalist thinking:

Yes, Ted Cruz is a "natural-born" citizen -- even in an originalist reading of the clause

“Each day I recognize this site less & less...”

It’s getting harder and harder to tell the difference between about 90% of the Trumpsters and your typical Clintonite.

If this is true (headlines like this always doubtful) then may the Donald take Levin’s objections in stride and use them to improve himself, not as cannon fodder

“I love Mark Levin and his opinion of Trump will not change that. But I’m surprised that he thinks this will work against Trump. We know who Donald is, We know that he’s not a ‘movement’ conservative.”

Thank you for having a reasoned and intellectual post. It is appreciated and it gives me an opportunity to make a couple of points.

Mark’s point is not meant as an attack against Trump, it is a response to Trump actually derailing the conservative cause with this non-issue. Mark has been positive about Trump, while acknowledging that there is a lot that he doesn’t agree with. However, he does appreciate Trump’s approach and response to the PC culture.

Now Trump is carrying on with a position of the left, simply to attack a true conservative. His supporters should be worried that they are aligned with Alan Grayson on this issue....but they won’t care...

RE: Cruz will lose in the general election. He is unable to connect with the average voter like Trump or to go across party lines.

THAT of course, remains to be seen. The latest polls show him LEADING Hillary Clinton and doing better against her than Trump.

See here:

So, I am not sure if your assertion is accurate at this point in time...

Mark Levin told us about Casper mattresses...

And Rush is now selling sheets and pillowcases. Is there a connection?

And another one that does not:

Op-Ed Is Ted Cruz a 'natural born Citizen'? Not if you're a constitutional originalist.

The issue has never been litigated in the courts. It needs to be with 300,000 children being born to illegal aliens annually. Or thousands more to tourists who come here under the birth tourism scam.

I don’t think so. Mark was not sponsored by Casper. He just got the mattress. He liked it so much that he bought four of them, and talked about them on the air. He was right!

keep on with the slash and burn campaign you will lose to the RINOs in the end!

You should heed your own words- or at least the words of your fellow Cruz supporters.

It isn’t BS. It’s the truth. I’m not sure why it is, but y’all can’t accept it, no matter how clear cut it is or how well reasoned or (previously) credible the source.

If you are signed on with the same agenda; rather than being merely duped, be careful what you wish for and you presume too much.

“When Trump came out loud and strong about Mexico sending their rapists and criminals, that registered with millions and bingo - LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT!”

I am in agreement with your point, but I think a quick reminder is due on this one. Remember, Trump’s original utterance of the illegal immigration issue was a “throw away” line in his speech. He did not come out loud and strong on the issue. The MEDIA grabbed the line as a gotcha and they started their repetitive reporting in an effort to demonize him.

His response was to fight back and many of us like that approach. However, the reality is that this issue was originally a “throw away” line for him.

No sir (or m’am). On March 23, last year, NY Daily News published a story that Trump had said that Cruz’s Canadian birth might be/ was going to be a ‘hurdle’ for him.

Trump didn’t declare until June or July 16 (I forget which) & IIRC, he said at the time that he was deciding whether or not to run right up to the last minute.

That is very close to being the most inane statement I have ever read on this forum.
Oh right, like you've never seen Cruz supporters post Trump/Cruz?
Cruz for VP so he can step right in and take over after Trump's Presidency?
Or that Trump was in this to give it to Cruz... They had secret meetings you know, some of the Cruz supporters can cite the dates, maybe even the time.
