"The Texas senator can best move to flip the conversation of the race by adding a new angle to a theme already present in his longtime messaging. The media is the enemy of conservatives, and of populists, and the ally of Trump, who plays the media like a fiddle. Cruz can tie the Trump birther attack to the frenzied media that have sustained it, and draw the connection for Republican primary voters that the media works for the Democrats â and the Democrats want the media to crush Cruz and raise Trump.
In this championship game, Cruz must call out Trump for what many conservatives can be convinced to see as an unholy alliance with the liberal, mainstream media. An alliance Cruz can claim now aims to kill him off, in order to protect Hillary from facing him in the fall."

I think that ship sailed and then sunk. With the stuff that is coming out about Cruz, he will have his hands full just fighting off Rubio and Jeb. Cruz is done.

Time to put the Trump stalking horse out to pasture.

And still, are burro-backing that stupidity.

This is bad advice. Cruz’s best lane of attack is to hit Trump from the right, like he’s been doing, not from the ‘media’ angle.
I get the ‘blood in the water’ vibe with Cruz... too many sharks are circling. I actually think this is a bad thing for Trump. With Cruz down Rubio may suck up Cruz’s soft support. This soft support were former Carson supporters who HATE Donald Trump, and could be enough to put Rubio and the GOPe back in the divers seat...

Ted Cruz was born AFTER the Apollo moon landing. Those of you that watched the Apollo moon landing in July 1969, Ted Cruz wasn’t born for another 1 1/2 years. Do we really need a inexperienced kid in the White House?

There isn’t anything either of them can do, say or be accused of falsely that could disuade me from supporting either one. These are the only two people I trust to deal with the problems facing our nation. They may not be perfect but they are light years ahead of the riff raff running against them.

Or ... Cruz could respond by signalling that he is continuing his campaign "in good faith" that he eligible for POTUS based on contemporary events and that his bonds to citizenship are equally strong, if not stronger, than Obama's. But that he will also pursue judicial review from the Supreme Court on the matter once seated as POTUS such that clarity to the term "natural born citizen" can be documented once and for all. Should he be found ineligible, then Chester Arthur will have been the first ineligible POTUS, Barack Obama the second, and he Ted Cruz would be the last.
A little intellectual honesty with the public is all it would take. This would appease the birthers. It would point the damaging spotlight on Obama to assuage democrat attacks. It would set the Supreme Court at ease knowing they have cover to continue ducking the issue for the next election cycle. It's easy and winnable all the way around. Cruz can be seated as POTUS if he plays his cards right.
Longer term thinking, however, I want Cruz at some point to "retire" to a Supreme Court appointment. It's going to be challenging to get him ratified if he doesn't get in front of this eight-ball now. He does not want to be remembered as the guy who lacks Constitutional understand of citizenship. He has to own his status and signal his intentions and keep it all 100% above board and Constitutional.
