Trump: Kim Jong Un deserves 'credit' for taking out rivals
The Hill ^ | January 9, 2016 | Bradford Richardson

Posted on 01/09/2016 10:09:03 PM PST by Cincinatus' Wife

Republican primary front-runner Donald Trump says North Korean communist dictator Kim Jong-un deserves "credit" for the cutthroat efficiency with which he disposes of his political foes.

"If you look at North Korea, this guy, he's like a maniac, OK?" Trump said at a rally in Ottumwa, Iowa, on Saturday.

"And you've got to give him credit: How many young guys - he was like 26 or 25 when his father died - take over these tough generals and all of a sudden, you know, it's pretty amazing when you think of it. How does he do that?" he added.

“Even though it is a culture, and it’s a culture thing, he goes in, he takes over, he's the boss. It's incredible."

After North Korea's government said it successfully tested a hydrogen bomb earlier this week, Trump called the authoritarian leader a "madman playing around with nukes" and a "total nut job."

But he also insinuated that Kim had some admirable qualities.

"I mean, it's amazing that a young guy would go over and take over," Trump said Thursday on Fox News' "On the Record." "You know, you would have thought that these tough generals would have said no way this is gonna happen when the father died.

"So he's gotta have something going for him, because he kept control, which is amazing for a young person to do," he added.

Trump has previously praised other world leaders with less-than-stellar human rights records.

He called Russian President Vladimir Putin a "highly respected" man in global affairs, after the Russian strongman called Trump "bright and talented."

The public has right to make mistakes. As much as I detest Obama, he was legitimately elected by my fellow citizens.

The system needs to be updated. I would suggest voters pass an IQ and basic knowledge test prior to entering the booth. Half the people voting today would probably have trouble telling you who the VP is.

Yeah, I hear ya. Well I try to read what folks say, and understand what they mean, but it isn’t always easy.

I’m not sure they even know at times. What poster wants to admit they’ll read what the other person says, and if the other person makes sense, they know they won’t give in.

There variations that make sense. For instance I know Trump’s history. I know what he has said and done. Telling me that doesn’t convince me that he is lying now, or that he will never follow through.

So in a way, I admit that folks can tell me truth, but it won’t sway me.

With all candidates there has to be some faith.

I’m taking my chances with Trump. He has never claimed to be something he isn’t.

If he felt like saying something he did. He didn’t come to me later and say he didn’t say it, or he didn’t mean it. He is what is is. He’s honest about it.

Some other folks actually aren’t. That bothers me more than Trump’s past antics.

I agree with your comments to a point, but it is clear he is drawing some Democrats in. Independents are favoring him too.

The Democrats have some serious problems.

Who do they run as? They can’t run as Obama. They can’t flee their base.

Trump will win in this environment.

That is why I am hopeful Trump gets in and attacks the Welfare estate.

Get those folks into the real world, and their IQs will jump 20% in six months.

Haven’t you thought or said that every day since earlier last year?

I wasn’t referring only to the welfare population. Most people haven’t the foggiest idea about international politics. Ask the average schmo on the street about Russia or China, they most likely wouldn’t be able to tell you anything about the most glaring of concerns.

I agree with that, but what has changed there.

Back in the 50s and 60s our populace knew broad strokes, but they weren’t privy to all the information we have today.

They did have the lessons of WWII behind them. Still there was the Korean and Vietnam wars.

The has always been a segment of the populace that went uninformed.

Back in the 50s and 60s our populace knew broad strokes, but they weren't privy to all the information we have today.

That it what makes the situation especially absurd. People today have relatively easy access to a tremendous amount of information on the internet and elsewhere. Yet they STILL basically know squat and/or care about what's going on. I blame this mainly on screwed up personal values, lack of imagination/creative intelligence/awareness (stupidity), and a totally biased left-wing dominated snooze media, plus the many other influences of our liberal/leftist-dominated culture: "education" (indoctrination), TV, film, music, magazines, newspapers, etc, etc.

“I’m taking my chances with Trump”

What if he wins and those of us who warned others about him turn out to be right?

I don’t necessarily disagree with your comments.

Some folks just aren’t attracted to politics.

We have let the Left control the media and our education systems.

Those things need to be addressed.

The media should be somewhere near parity. Ownership should be something no worse than 55/45 as it relates to Leftist vs a Rightist belief system.

We had laws to control ownership of stations for the purpose of diversity of thought and the dissemination of information that wasn’t narrowly focused. We surrendered that. It was a mistake.

Our universities and K-12th grade schools should not be wholly owned by the Left and Teacher’s Unions.

It is also important that school be required to teach our founding principles and the important tenets of our society.

We allowed the Left to do this to us.

The Republican party has not done it’s job defending our values.

That’s why it must go.

I hope Trump addresses these things. He may.

What the TDS folk are missing is they jump on and criticize any single instance of what they believe puts Mr. Trump in such a light that he is somehow unqualified or a risky choice for POTUS, thus Cruz is the superior choice.

This haze of anger prevents them from seeing that Trump does not say anything without a purpose, almost everyday these “damning” instances get examined by the MSM and what happens? They give Trump fresh ammunition to fire back and make them out liars and hypocrits that they are.

Trump is a masterful chess-player. You self-satisfied prigs that deride him have not seen his end plays yet.

Your boy, Cruzenberg and his Goldbalz Sac wife is doomed, you’ll see!

What argument?
Are you arguing that Trump didn’t say what he did?

We’ve been through this already. I’m arguing that it doesn’t mean what people are implying it means. But okay, let’s back up for a minute. You seem to think what he said was horrible and somehow unforgivable. Why is that? I’ve already told you might thoughts on the subject. Why don’t you tell me what you think he meant, what it implies, and why it’s so unforgivable?

It's not a matter of it being unforgivable or not. It's the kind of statement I'd expect from Trump.

The point is if BHO or Hillary said the exact same thing, word for word, those who are excusing Trump would be shouting how unfit for office they are for even having such a thought. But when Trump says it, “he didn't mean what he said” is the excuse. Too many people are willing to over look past statements and positions taken by Trump and just take his word for it what he's telling them now when he needs their vote to win a primary. When it comes to his past support of Hillary, gun control, ect. the most common excuse is “can't people change their minds?” Of course they can. But has he really braced conservatism or is he, like the good salesman he is, telling you what you want to hear in order to sell himself.

I believe, at this point, he will be the nominee. I believe if he is the nominee, he will win the WH. And I also believe it will be supporters such as yourself who will be the first to turn on him when you find out you've been duped

I just choose to be a consistent conservative, I guess And I stand by, 100%, my statement that if anyone else said what Trump said about Kim Jong Un, the same people defending Trump and excusing him would be outraged
