Cruz: ‘We Need Quite A Few Constitutional Amendments’
Daily Caller ^ | 01/09/2016 | Kerry Picket

Posted on 01/09/2016 8:17:09 AM PST by Isara

MASON CITY, Iowa–Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz wants to add a number of amendments to the U.S. Constitution. He told reporters Friday at the Praise Community Church he would like to see amendments added pertaining to a balanced budget, term limits, and restoring power to state legislatures.

“We need quite quite a few constitutional amendments,”Cruz said. "I will fight hard for a balanced budget amendment including also a term limits amendment. I think a term limits amendment is absolutely critical. If you look at the abuses of power we're seeing in Washington-term limits for members of Congress and the Supreme court."

He added, "Beyond that, I've introduced a Constitutional amendment restoring state legislators to define marriage as one man and one woman. And there are many more amendments we need, in part because the federal government and the courts have gotten so far away from the original text and our original understanding of the Constitution."

Cruz first wrote about amending the Constitution back in July when the Supreme Court ruled for same sex marriage to be recognized in each state.

The Texas senator’s remarks come as Texas Governor Greg Abbot called for a Constitutional Convention to take back states rights.

"If we are going to fight for, protect and hand on to the next generation, the freedom that [President] Reagan spoke of ... then we have to take the lead to restore the rule of law in America," Abbott said during a speech at the Texas Public Policy Foundation's Policy Orientation.

The Dallas Morning News reports Abbot will ask lawmakers to pass a bill allowing Texas to join other states calling for a Convention of States.

The Convention of States (COS) Project is organized in each states with almost one million volunteers, supporters and advocates, their website says. Alaska, Florida, Georgia, and Alabama passed the organization’s Article V resolution, which proposes amendments to the U.S. Constitution on issues pertaining to limiting the power of the federal government and establishing term limits for federal officials, since the project launched in 2013. In 2015, the COS Project filed their resolutions in 37 states.

:-) agree. lawyers, as you can tell, are not my cup of tea. They practice only to place themselves above God. A law is only as good as those who enforce it and people abide by it. Just like our Constitution...this can change or be ignored in a manner of minutes or lifetimes...but those who wish to change it will eventually or convince others that change has, indeed, happened. It is how they interpret it to be, therefore it is.
This was my feelings regarding our Constitutional Republic and studying US Civics back in the 60’s. It was felt then, that which is seen happening now. LOL knowing this is not logical, only a personal insight -felt it then and seeing it now.

TRUMP/CRUZ the two to make AMERICA GREAT for GREAT AMERICANS

When we look at the $inate and the senile/vile senior members of both parties, we seeing living proof of the need of term limits.

My state, the land of PC, Californicator Land and its two geriatric left wing $inators are among the worse.

Ask the two ex-wives and mothers of his children...that he cheated on. Even though I don’t like the man, i can recognize what he has brought to the debate....but I absolutely cannot trust a man who would do that. And not only do it once...but then do it a second time. Ask yourself this...if he would do that to the people he allegedly loves the most, why should we believe anything he says?

Article V ping. This article hints that Sen. Cruz and Gov. Abbott may be coordinating on Abbott’s proposal that Texas join the other 4 states that have generated applications for a Convention of the States using Georgia’s language generated from Mark Levin’s book.

And before you ask, it was on two separate documentaries about the man. One very recent, since he announced his run, and one a few years old. And before you ask, like another freeper did....yes it was in the New York newspapers, the documentary showed the front pages of the post.

Both of Trump’s former wives and all of his children from those marriages highly and enthusiastically endorse Trump for President. Those children and grandchildren are testimony to what an excellent father and grandfather he is.

I thought the nasty divorce stuff was quickly dismissed by Ivana herself, as what goes on in divorce situations. There has been no indication that Trump has been anything less than the perfect father and grandfather, and provider for his former wives.

Not my point. First because 95% of all kids are gonna say that...I mean c’mon he’s their father. But more importantly I’d like for you to ponder the level of scumbag that it takes to cheat on the mother of his children...knowing that it will tear his children’s lives and homes apart. And then he did it again. I am a man and I look at my children and the the thought of doing that to my children is utterly and completely reprehensible to me.

The fact that his wives and his children may have forgiven him is really irrelevant. The character flaw and utter untrustworthiness were still there.

No, we don’t need Constitutional Amendments. We need the government to follow the Constitution.

He already said he doesn’t! lumping us in with “all stripes of ideologues.” He’s openly confessed that he’s part of the “squishy middle.” Frankly, I don’t under why this person is even at Free Republic. We are a CONSERVATIVE, CONSTITUTIINALIST site for CONSERVATIVES, not for folks in the squishy middle. He really should go to squishymiddle.com.

Cruz or lose. America.

I wonder how long it took you to think up that response, silly as it is. The issue is how your boy Cruz voted, get it. A cloture vote never goes to any President's desk.

Basically, you are running around with a bucket trying to catch the raindrops from falling on Cruz's head. Cruz voted to give Obama fast track authority. That's it. Cruz's corporate masters want one sided trade and could care less about this country.

Consider also the Corker bill that Cruz voted for - to hell with the 2/3rds Constitutional vote, to hell with Israel, lets just vote to open Iran to our corporate buddies.

To continue...

If nothing else we need to have the public debate so that half of our countrymen can get educated about how damn stupid they are.

Again, the bill that Cruz voted for cloture on did not pass. Of course cloture votes don’t go to the President’s desk. Who said they do? The point is, the bill that Cruz voted for cloture on did not pass. The bill he voted no on (cloture and final vote) WAS the final TPA bill and THAT is what gave the President fast track authority.

BTW, no one has given Obama TPP yet because TPP has not been voted on.

I was speaking ore to bringing impeachment proceedings against a lawless president instead of giving him everything he wants and ‘just waiting till he’s out of office’ till they decide they can do something about it

If you are on welfare, you can’t vote.

Simple but good thinking. For a year after you last took welfare in all forms except for disability or illness or age, you may not vote.

I would include that you need to show valid ID to vote.

I’d also make it so that citizenship is based on your mother being legally in the country if you are born here.

Cruz voted for Cloture on TPA Fast track trade authority removing the hurdle and concern of further amendments and clearing the way for passage. Again, like unanimous consent, cloture votes are not recorded roll call votes. Thereby Ted Cruz could obfuscate his support. He figured to hide, see how that works?

Later, Cruz voted NAY. Directly saying he did not want congress to be consulted before other countries, namely CHINA, could join TPP. But his initial vote was the important one get it!

Cruz is slippery on concealing his globalist intents. He deceives you and gets away with it. You are so easily deceived because he cloaks himself in religiosity.
