So if Donald Trump proved the political universe wrong and won the Republican presidential nomination, he would be creamed by Hillary Clinton, correct?
A new survey of likely voters might at least raise momentary dyspepsia for Democrats since it suggests why it wouldn't be a cakewalk.
The survey by Washington-based Mercury Analytics is a combination online questionnaire and "dial-test" of Trump's first big campaign ad among 916 self-proclaimed "likely voters" (this video shows the ad and the dial test results). It took place primarily Wednesday and Thursday and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.5 percent.
Nearly 20 percent of likely Democratic voters say they'd cross sides and vote for Trump, while a small number, or 14 percent, of Republicans claim they'd vote for Clinton. When those groups were further broken down, a far higher percentage of the crossover Democrats contend they are "100 percent sure" of switching than the Republicans.
When the firmed showed respondents the Trump ad, and assessed their responses to each moment of it, it found "the primary messages of Trump's ad resonated more than Democratic elites would hope."
About 25 percent of Democrats "agree completely" that it raises some good point, with an additional 19 percent agreeing at least "somewhat."
Mercury CEO Ron Howard, a Democrat whose firm works for candidates in both parties and corporate clients, concedes, "We expected Trump's first campaign spot to strongly appeal to Republican Trump supporters, with little impact - or in fact negative impact - on Democratic or independent voters."

My sister made some oblique questions last time we visited in December regarding Don Trump. She’s Democrat, from a family of unionist Democrats (me being the white sheep). My impression was that she was leaning toward a Trump vote and mind you she is a Bay Area California police connected unionist. If she’s leaning Trump in California, you can bet your adz there are many thousands more just like her ready to go to the polls and punch a ballot for the Donald.
Another poll that will not be mentioned on FOX.
Pray America wakes
I don’t believe 14% of republicans would switch to Clinton. There is nothing about Clinton to like if your are a republican.
My brother brings this up...he works around average-working-class Dem’s, and they’ve pretty much bought onto the Trump theme and want to reset the balance of things. I think in some ways....this worries the leadership of the Democratic Party because people like this would normally vote a straight-ticket, and it might trigger them into voting for other Republicans down through state lines.
Also, I noticed this week that Karl Rove went out and made a number of predictions on 2016. One of them was that if Trump was the candidate in November....Hillary would win. I couldn’t help but laugh over the prediction.
The few Dems I know, who I thought would be all in for Hellary....are supporting Trump.
Doubtful -
Trump lacks Hillary’s infectious campaign pitcher-catcher dance sloganeering.
Hillary in the House...

Clinton won’t be running. The more she loses ground the more likely she’s going to be indicted and if not indicted, she won’t be able campaign with her health condition. Proxy campaigning is going to quickly wear thin.
Next weeks headlines will be about Chelsea being asked about her fathers infidelities.
Been saying this from the start, Trump will win the blue dogs big time, he will while the floor with Hillary and crack the EC map wide open. No other republican running can do this.
Anyone else gets the nomination, and election night is about a handful of states and which party has the better GOTV in them... Regardless of who wins, nothing structurally changes and the money and power brokers just keep on selling America down the toilet.
Anyone claiming to be a republican but would vote for Hillary? Yes, gotta believe they are lying about being a republican in the first place.
Pepsi,
Rovian philosophy is super-glued to the GOPe. When you’ve spent as much time as he has in spinning, it’s hard to reposition. In Rove’s case, the centrifuge bearings are overloaded and the motor is staring to smell funny.

I had a similar experience the day before Christmas when I had lunch with two guys who used to work for me (in Palo Alto). One of them is African American. He arrived at lunch last and sat down next to me. His very first question to me was “who are you going to vote for?” I looked at him and said Donald Trump! He reached over, put his arms around me and said “you’re a good man, me too!”
People are figuring out just how poorly served we have been by both political parties, and Trump has energized and informed millions of people. I am betting that the general election isn’t going to be close, even if Hillary manages to stay out of jail and runs on the RAT side!
Biden-Warren will be the ticket.
"It's about that three letter word --- J O B S!" --- Joe Biden.
Yep. It’s all coming together. BTW, the crew of illegals was here today cutting lawns at the ole apartment homestead and as usual blowing fallen leaves back onto the patio. Like clockwork. You ought to see the looks on their faces when I address them in my best California educated Spanish. You’d think I was La Migra. It’s hilarious.
Well as a White Female USAF NCOIC-—DUH!
Most women have fathers, brothers, sons and neighbors just as most men have mothers, sisters, daughters and neighbors.
Hillary’s primary problem is that none of the majority of the above groups think she is worth a damn.
Even with the D after her name.
One day, there will be a first woman elected as POTUS.
It will not be Hillary Clinton.
Yes they do.
Wow. I hope you are right!
